Pong®World for Negative User Reviews

RobberyGood game ruined by the fact that you have to buy coins or spend about a month stuck on the same level.Version: 1.0

Custom MusicInability to play own music in game as it keeps pausing my music when I go to play the game. That alone ruins it..Version: 1.0

Fun, but missing thingsWhere's the classic Atari pong? I like the game, but it needs the classic Atari version I downloaded it for..Version: 1.0

Low fun, high $$$Free for about 2 minutes. And not enjoyable enough to pay for. Try again in 49 years.Version: 1.0

Too toughThe thing is about most iPhone and iPad games is that they tempt in the non gamers like me by making the first few rounds nice and easy. Not so with this game, it's right into the deep end! The game and graphics are nice but gameplay is difficult on the iPhone because your finger covers over the paddle. It would have been easy for the developer to give some finger space beneath it. Also whilst I appreciate that the developer only makes money out of the in app purchases, this app really has the hard sell..Version: 1.0

ZdTotally frustrating. We'll give you a free game that's almost unplayable, then encourage you spend money to try to make it better. I wanted to select less than 1 star..Version: 1.0

Awful...It is terrible.., try for your self it is brutal.Version: 1.0

The coins ruin the game.Had fun during the first level but all the coin nonsense ruins this game. I uninstalled. If the coin system is removed, maybe it would be a good 99 cent game.Version: 1.0

FunThis is a fun enhancement on the original but you get punished in coin total if you do anything other than replay the current stage you just finished. Makes me not want to play if I'm gonna lose coins just for going somewhere else in the game. Change that & it would be more worthwhile to continue playing other & future stages..Version: 1.0

Not too shabby.Pretty fun game..Version: 1.0

Pong worldThe Idea of the remake seems gd, but there's not enough coin rewards 4 winning game, which u need 2 open the next level. Seem like this game is trying 2 draw u in2 spending own real cash 2 buy coins, but its not worth it. Wud b better if u were rewarded more.Version: 1.0

Good but somewhat frustratingI'm on the iPhone 5. While I know the screens need to be a standard size why not make use of the blank spot below. Right now I cover the page with my thumb when I should be able to slide along the blank space. Also, things are too expensive not to buy coin packs..Version: 1.0

Frustrating gameplay on an iPhone 5This game fills in the extra space on an iPhone 5 with a generic graphic. This isn't a problem, the problem is that when trying to control the game, this region is unresponsive. It makes the game a frustrating challenge of trying to keep your finger low enough that you can see the paddle, but high enough that it doesn't drift into the dead zone. In game Ads are frustrating, and the in App purchases seem a little too essential to augment the gameplay. A good idea, but frustratingly unplayable..Version: 1.0

Shame the mechanics don't match the graphicsThere is no point in having a PONG game if it is written so the ball bounces down and out if it hits the edges of the paddles. It is also almost impossible to both see and move the paddle at the same time. Also, the popup ads are obnoxious and far too frequent. They make it clear that the developers think revenue is king and gameplay is a footnote at most. It is a pity. There are some outstanding ideas here. They are just well hidden in a hot mess of a game. If this is what Atari and its developers are going to extrude, then maybe the next time the company goes down, it should stay down. Be glad there is no rating lower than one star in the App Store..Version: 1.0

Not worth it!Do not download. Can't even remember if i paid money for this but its asking me to pay more money for golden coins. On screen pointers guiding me through to BUY MORE COINS. Stick of it. The menu is not user friendly it's just confusing. Don't buy..Version: 1.0

No pause/restart, too many adsNice game but no pause button when you're playing. Would like it if we can restart the game and not wait ti finish. LOTS OF ADS, which is annoying, not optimised for iphone 5.Version: 1.0

Good and bad!Addictive game, well laid out and exciting. However, takes again if you don't want to buy anything and the constant asking for reviews is annoying!.Version: 1.0

Free with stringsYes the app is free but not only do they feed you ads but everything in-game costs "coins" which they constantly try to sell you more of in-game. Each paddle has its own upgrades and none carry over. So if you buy the wider paddle upgrade it only works on the paddle you bought it for and you have to buy it again if you want it on another paddle and the upgrades are not cheap compared to how many you win from playing. Even changing from one type of game to another costs you coins. You can barely earn enough coins by playing to advance. Its basically required that you buy coins to get enough to advance. This game is practically a scam so if you think you're getting a free game, think again..Version: 1.0

Another one...Yes ladies and gentlemen, another "free" game where you can either play for milleniums the same boring level OR pay real cash for turbo speed. This is becoming a serious cancer. Dont waste your time with this app!.Version: 1.0

NiceBien fait..Version: 1.0

Another poorly implemented freemium gameWhy not just give people the option to buy the game and not have to put up with advertisements all the time..Version: 1.0

BadCool game but much too hard and too many ads its stupid that once you've conquered a place you shouldn't have to buy the next place.Version: 1.0

Why?Without in app purchase you have to play a lot.Version: 1.0

Not too badThis is actually kinda fun. A good time waster when I need it in the office. Only problem I have is it takes too long to earn enough coins to open the next level, even when you beat the prior one..Version: 1.0

AnnoyingOnly pong game I've played where the ball can curve back on you after you hit it and go in your own goal. It's also hard to see your paddle, so sometimes you think you're going to hit the ball but you don't. AND the game sometimes spawns a chest in front of your ball when you're going to score, reflecting it back to you instead. Your coins often disappear right after you earn them. However, the "daily spin" can be done about 3 times a day. Getting coins is more important than winning, so you need a paddle with magnetic ball, like Chomper. It's not a game for kids or feminists; the only female character is a prostitute..Version: 1.0

Overly complicated reimaginingI've nothing inherently against an imaginative reinvention per se, but this game is so insincere to its namesake's legacy it's an insult. The complexity is so unnecessary, distracting, and even laughable—yet another "game" where the play becomes secondary, at best, to a pitifully sad pursuit of nickel and diming the "player". One star for stability and another for decent style, but nothing more..Version: 1.0

It's a fun game but...There is a bug that needs to be fixed. Half my coins keep disappearing. N it takes a long time to earn them as it is. Wouldn't recommend spending money to save time to get better upgrades if half of its gonna disappear..Version: 1.0

SatisfactoryThe game is more frustrating than fun and challenging. Like what the majority have said, it takes a long time to earn coins. Your finger pretty much covers the paddle and the ball spins way too much that you usually lose by scoring yourself. MAYBE this will grow on me but I have no problem moving on to another game..Version: 1.0

PongA good challenging game worth the free download. However paying for coins is just a ridiculous scam to try and get you to purchase further upgrades etc..Version: 1.0

Poor executionI liked the last version of Pong and I found this version extremely poor version. I like the fact that I can play anytime I want without having to wait (Which is why this is not a single star). Unfortunately the gaining of money in the game to level up or progress is terrible. The game get so annoying trying to level up that I don't normally play it until my phone screams "Mommy!" and scares the crap out of my spouse. Otherwise I am thinking of deleting the game to make more space on my phone for that paint drying app that is more interesting..Version: 1.0

Irritating controlsThe game itself is good however the paddle controls need to be fixed. To control the paddle properly means u need to obstruct your view of the paddle with your finger which is very annoying. Hard to collect enough coins to unlock things with such terrible controls. Game does have good potential..Version: 1.0

Atari...what have you become? This should've been great. Released to celebrate the anniversary of Pong, this was a chance for Atari to live up to their own legend and prove themselves relevant. Instead they've sold out. Only install this if you have no respect for retro games, find pleasure in looking at full screen adverts and enjoy games with poor controls and bizarre physics. I hope the cash this game generates randomly disappears...like the in-game coins do..Version: 1.0

Woeful interpretation of pongCluttered screen means at times can't see ball, sometimes it randomly turns once hit causing you to lose. Overall nothing like pong was suppost to be, complicated nonsense..Version: 1.0

Destroy a classic...I understand this is not classic pong...but you are taking a clean and simple game and making it too complicated...I get the power ups and choosing of the paddle monsters but it is too much like breakout. Also the curving of the ball is way to extreme...not to mention the color of the ball and anemia tin of all the powerups and then them flying to the paddle is confusing to follow. Now maybe because I am colorblind, but not blue color blind...in level 2 the ball and spinning pegs make it too hard to see the ball with all the coins and powerups being the strongest colors... Why is there no setting to limit the color or trails or animation? Over all this game is not worth it. I can't mess with settings to adjust for different playing abilities or visual preferences and the gameplay is way to away from the original or at times difficult to play at all... It would be great to have preferences to drop the curve..I mean if you mention Atari and Pong, I expect something that is like the original, not overly modern and just could be another game made by a company trying to rip off the pong experience with over done effects...give me the pong i Know and love... Needs a lot of work....Version: 1.0

Points disappear all the timePoints disappear when trying to get upgrades.Version: 1.0

Is fun but1 problem it needs to be updated because is works with iOS 4.3 update it to make it work with iOS 10 or later immediately because I want to play it on my iPod Touch.Version: 1.0

Crappy gameMicro transactions, ads, bad controls and too much other stuff that make for a terrible game..Version: 1.0

Good idea but poor control schemeCould be fun...if I could actually control the paddle. Too many times I try sliding the paddle one way and it goes no where. Also way too many ads and its all about getting you to buy coins for upgrades. Fix the terrible controls and its an ok game though..Version: 1.0

Didn't put any thought into controlsVery difficult to control with your finger over the panel. Would be great if you could control the panel AND see the screen..Version: 1.0

So much potential, but wastedIf you're going to release a game for free, and want to monetize it, you can choose to allow in-app purchases to help users expedite their progression, or you can litter the app with invasive ads. NOT both! Also, the control is far too flaky (your finger covers the paddle, and movement sometimes doesn't register at all), and ball movement seems to be completely random (straight incoming + straight hit = wild spin which loops back at me and costs me a point ... what the???). Graphics and sounds are wonderful, but the game itself is simply unplayable. Deleted..Version: 1.0

Mr D.R-CPlayability is easy, simple controls , layout makes it easy to navigate. Graphics are good, no difficulties following the ball. This game is an nice 30 minute a day game..Version: 1.0

Great game... Needs some improvementsThis is an awesome game, however, the only thing I have grief with is that it's sometimes difficult to know where the paddle is with my thumb or finger over it. If you were able to control the movement of the paddle on the bottom of the screen rather than on the paddle itself it would make for a better gaming experience..Version: 1.0

OkGood addictive game however it costs a lot to proceed to the next level the inapp purchases are expensive but good game none the less.Version: 1.0

How is this Atari?I understand Atari wanted to make something new here, but I think it just make things worse; the controls and mechanics are way too confusing, and the lack of a (in-game) tutorial makes it worse. In fact, I can't tell if this is actually Pong at this rate. What happened to even an option to have classic, no-frills pong?.Version: 1.0

CoinsDoes a horrible job tracking your coins. One screen will say 500, the next is 460, the next says 470, and then back to 460. Absolutely ridiculous, a two year old can create a variable that actually store the value across screens. Also, as is likely to happen in these sorts of games, the bounces off boxes can be ridiculous, especially when there is curve on the ball..Version: 1.0

FrustratingGood game, coins are a bit of a waste of time but please stop asking me to write a review!.Version: 1.0

Fun but paddle is hard to controlI keep slipping off the paddle, but finally passed the first stage. Haha!.Version: 1.0

Needs improvementsFind that the paddle when swiping left and right could be more responsive. Also the coins are way to expensive considering how much you earn playing the games, clearly trying to encourage you to make in app purchase. Which is NOT gonna happen!.Version: 1.0

Fun, but needs improvementsIt's a good game with good concepts, the only complaint is from the hard scoring system. You won't be able to unlock much stuff in the game because the coins are much too hard to earn. I've been playing the second level for a while now. Oh, and please update it to fit the iPhone 5!.Version: 1.0

Fun Gameplay, Lame Upgrade SystemThis game is fun for a little while, but it takes a ridiculously long time to earn enough coins for paddle upgrades and level unlocks. The moon level is 6250, which is at least 50 games worth of Pong World (less your "Daily Spin"). On top of that, I constantly lose coins for no good reason after earning them in a game - it appears to be a bug related to your menu choice after playing a game. Extremely annoying. This game is basically all about buying coins as in-app purchases. Don't bite! There are only four levels and the gameplay doesn't evolve much - at least not enough to justify $5 worth of coins. Finally, the thing is larded with ads and has no ad-free version. Definitely worth a spin, but not much more than that..Version: 1.0

AwfulNot actually optimised for iPhone 5, they just put a texture in the extra space to fill the screen. Annoying ads and in app purchases. Save your time and download a game that wasn't designed to 'steal your money'.Version: 1.0

They set u up to fail and to get ur moneyThis game could easily be a 5 star game but they make it SOO difficult to get coins n u need boosts n upgrades to be able to beat these guys but it takes u days to earn enough coins to get a boost or upgrade n on top of it u need coins to unlock levels n that will take days n days to earn that many coins it's ridiculous. They need to lower coin prices on everything or they need to make it where u can earn more coins per game..Version: 1.0

Game play is fun, but...Game is fun to play, but why do I lose coins when changing characters or going back to the menu (up to 90). Upgrades are to expensive, for the amount of coins that you can earn during game play. And the ball u-turning back to your own goal is frustrating for younger kids who are playing. Make these changes and the game could earn a higher review..Version: 1.0

PoorPoor game and once again it is all about buying coins. Fed up with this now. Avoid. I don't mind in app purchases normally but not for this money draining rubbish..Version: 1.0

Good concept, thumb covers paddleA great concept to create single player pong and multiplayer as well. Biggest drawback is that when using your thumb move the paddle back and forth it covers the paddle so you can't see the edges. Just a little more room below the paddle would make it five stars. Right now just endlessly irritating that UI takes away from a solid game.Version: 1.0

Uninstalling now. It's free but after about 20 seconds of playing it's apparent that the "paddle" is located too close to the bottom of the iPhone's screen. Therefore your thumb must cover the paddle to ensure you can move it. At which point you can no longer see the paddle. One has to wonder why people bother. Time to uninstall..Version: 1.0

Good for 5 minutesThis is all about in-app purchases. Download, play for 5 minutes and then delete..Version: 1.0

Wow, this is poorThe fact that the control scheme is poor? The fact the ball swings wildly without conforming to any kind of known physics? The fact it's impossible to really play without in app purchase? The fact that there's as many ad's as there are minutes of play? All of that, and more, make this incredibly poor. A bad game, whose control and physics means the game comes down to almost pure luck..Version: 1.0

Poor ControlsI love Pong as a game but this version does not live up. The biggest complaint I have is that in order to control the paddle you have to completely cover it with you finder which makes it hard to see exactly where the tiny ball will hit. I've already uninstalled..Version: 1.0

So much potentialJust doesn't work for me on a touch screen. Need to be able to see the paddle at all times which isn't possible with your finger covering the screen 😫.Version: 1.0

Great implementation, pity about IAP.Really, just release a free limited and full paid for version so people know up front how much it's going to cost. Great game that I would have bought otherwise..Version: 1.0

Pong playerGame cannot be played effectively as your thumb covers the screen resulting in the ball not being seen..Version: 1.0

Difficult and quite frankly not funI know i'm in the stone age playing the game on an iPhone4 but to control your mouth thingy you have to use a finger which impairs the ability to see some of the screen. Motion control would have been a better option for this game. For free it's fine but I played for 10 minutes and deleted it..Version: 1.0

AnnoyingKinda lame, wish it was more like original pong. Really annoying how the game starts after each goal by just firing the ball at you without warning. I dont know how many goals i let in because of this. Obstacles, spin on the ball, furry little paddles, upgrades... Too much bling, not enough substance. Played for about 5 minutes, time to delete..Version: 1.0

It should be fun, but the controls ruin it.The graphics are charming and the idea is solid, but good god those controls make it nigh impossible to play. I don't know how it's even possible to screw up the controls this badly for a game as simple as Pong, so props to Atari for figuring out how I guess. You can't hold your finger below the paddle to move it, even though it seems like that's supposed to be the case given the empty space at the bottom of the screen. So instead you have to hold your finger directly over the paddle. That's bad enough already because you can't see the paddle, but it's made even worse by the fact that the area where you can actually touch is so small that if you move your finger up or down even slightly, chances are you'll lose control of the paddle. It's also common to move too fast for the paddle and end up running out of space to move it. These issues make it impossible for me to even complete the first level. I spent some time looking for a tilt control option, but that doesn't exist, so until these awful controls are addressed this game is just a frustrating nightmare to play..Version: 1.0

Takes timeYou have to wait a long time to get ahead in this game or pay to do so! It's a good game spoilt by this. But money has to be made?.Version: 1.0

A let downAt first it looked like an interesting twist to an original classic and could have gone far but once I started playing the game is far too complicated in the very beginning of the game it doesn't even build up to it. And it takes forever to earn the coins needed to advance to the next level and on top of that there is a glitch in the game that sometimes after completing a match it doesn't save the coins that you earned during the match when you go back to the main menu you look at your coins and it's sometimes the same as when you started the previous match you just completed. This game was a big let down from the beginning..Version: 1.0

Quite difficult to play on iPhoneUsing you finger works great for an iPad but the iPhone's screen's way too small for it so it's hard to see where the ball is when it's in the lower corners. Please add a gyroscope control option..Version: 1.0

Just ok, barelyThis game is OK but, as others have mentioned, it really is just a tease to get you to make in game purchases. After you win the second level it "opens" level 3 but you need 2500 coins to play it. You might win 25 to 75 coins in a game so if you do no other upgrades you might have enough coins to open the third level after 50 games or so. Using the headline about doing this for a 40th anniversary kind of gives the impression it was put out as a gift but in truth it's only object is to earn capital. That's fine but just say so. I would much rather pay up front than get squeezed. Never have liked a tease so in the trash it goes..Version: 1.0

CoinsWhy don't you just charge for the app and then let me enjoy the game without having to purchase coins. I quite enjoyed the game but advert and plus in game purchases is too much for me. Bye!!!.Version: 1.0

Atari...Make em good and we'll pay for emGood update on the classic. I would rate this app higher if it didn't consistently "lose" the coins you have earned. I understand that in-app purchase, and ads are the revenue strategy here...but stealing coins is dirty ... Err missed it in debugging??? This would be a fun game as a one time purchase. Advise to Atari, make good games and people will buy them..Version: 1.0

Another crappy game forcing you to buy credits in appAnother crappy game forcing you to buy credits in app in order to progress. The game is fun but then if you want to do ANYTHING you are stuck as you collect literally a few coins per game and to unlock a new place or feature you have to pay up! Otherwise you will spend ages doing it 'the right way' which makes for a very frustrating experience.. But the again this lately becomes a trend so perhaps I shouldn't complain.. In any case this kills the mood for me and makes me want to delete a title like this straight away..Version: 1.0

BuggyAfter playing first game, win or lose you cannot return back to main menu just get a spinning wheel and forced a To restart app on ipad mini..Version: 1.0

GoodGood game.Version: 1.0

Why?This is the winner? Stupid furry paddles, the coin thing is stupid and having to buy coins is a rip off. Crap, crap and crap!.Version: 1.0

FixPlease fix the fact that when you play on an iPhone 5 there is a giant dead zone on the bottom because the play screen will not expand.Version: 1.0

Pretty, but frustratingI want to like this game, but I can't get over the controls. The ball moves very erratically, curving as if there was a gravity well that changed on every bounce. I think it might be trying to be modeling spin or something, but the effect on the ball's path is absurdly large. The controls feel a little unresponsive and the paddle is a bit smaller than I keep expecting it to be. Most of the time I feel like I'm losing due to a random bounce or the paddle not being where I thought I told it to be rather than because I think I messed up. I don't really like the coin system either (too slow to get coins vs. prices), though maybe that's just a result of not thinking the game is very playable..Version: 1.0

Coins, coins coinsI have found my game play dedicated to coin collecting rather than winning. As has been stated you purchase coins in app, which I always refuse to do, and if building up a supply of coins isn't slow enough I find I'm loosing coins as I navigate between menus. Hiding the paddle with your finger is a must on the iPhone, not so bad on the pad. Love pong, hate this new take on it..Version: 1.0

RubbishThis game is dull, control not that great, can't play for more than five mins without the need to buy coins and difficulty level is ridiculous to encourage upgrading thus buying coins. Dev can keep the coins and i'll take back the space I wasted on installing this junk..Version: 1.0

Pay pay payIt's GARBAGE!! Don't know why morons insist on giving good reviews to these garbage "buy coins buy coins buy more coins" apps and legitimising the rip off con artists behind them. If it's worth us paying for your garbage, tell us what you're charging us up front. Don't hide it away because you know no one in their right mind would pay that amount for your garbage if they knew what it was going to cost. Atari, do everyone a favour and go out of business. These are hard times. No one would think less of you for it..Version: 1.0

Absolute rubbish!Only able to play it for more 5 minutes before it kept asking me to buy more coins! Also very slow in selecting menu options and completely locked up my iPhone in that I had to reboot my device! I can't understand the 5* reviews..Version: 1.0

Bad cash grabThey ruined the gamed with micro transactions.Version: 1.0

"Free" ripoffTerrible ripoff. You either play the same level over and over again in the hope of amassing enough coins to get out of your misery, or you spend the equivalent of 3 decent paid apps in order to turn this to an actually enjoyable game. This "freemium" model needs to stop!.Version: 1.0

Doesn't even have iphone 5 supportNot as good as you would think. If it was a potato it would be a very bad potato. Indeed..Version: 1.0

Rip-offFreemium games are the norm now and I personally welcome the development, allowing users to pay what they think a game is worth to them. This game gets it all wrong though. The game itself is good, simplistic and fun - an upgraded original, but it looses its hold when you realise any coins you 'earn' for yourself have problems registering or sometimes even arriving. On occasion I have come out of the app to use another and returned to find previously won coins missing from the totals screen? I hope this is a bug and not a deliberate attempt to make you pay more and more... Considering the target audience I am very disappointed with Atari for such an oversight and hope its looked into fast..Version: 1.0

Needs developmentBeing old enough to have played the original Pong when it came out 40 yrs ago, I was looking forward to playing this "renewed" treatment. However, I was ultimately disappointed. I have never been a fan of in-app purchases, but that seems to be the direction apps are going. I also don't mind too much the extra pinball-type bumpers in each level. But playing this game on the iPhone is a matter of extreme frustration since your finger covers the paddle. The sensitivity of the paddles is also mediocre at best, even on the iPad. With a little more effort this could have been a fun time-waster, but as it is, I believe that I will pass on it..Version: 1.0

Simply a Terrible appDon't believe me? Download it and try it yourself.Version: 1.0
