✓ A good grab if you love sonnyOtherwise, don't bother. I love sonny and even I'm disappointed in this. Difficulty curve is too high and it gets very complicated. There are bugs, endless screens to tap through if you need to do anything, poor skills, etc. This just wasn't any fun to play after trying every skill, class, build and level..Version: 1.0.4

✓ Updated reviewOkay, so first of all, I'm a huge fan of sonny 2. So I was really excited to play this. I was having fun in the first 2 or so zones it got more frustrating, but doable. I'm at Blackhall Keep now I think. I'm not saying I want this to be a mindless phone game, but it's nearly impossible. What's the point of having a skill tree where you can choose your path when only one path works? Come to think of it, I don't even know if one of them will work to get me through this game (I see the respec button, but I shouldn't have to use it between every zone or every battle). I'm up for a challenge, but! If one of my party members dies (and others are critically low) before we even get to our turn, it's broken. It just is. At least maybe have different difficulty settings or something. I don't want to uninstall because the gameplay is fun, but the challenge is too unrealistic. Plus there's a glitch with sound- if you turn off sound and music, then end a battle, it'll come back on, but that's the LEAST of my problems. I have faith in this game still, but I am just not going to play it further or improve my review until I can feel like it's actually possible..Version: 2.0.20
✓ GearOne thing I absolutely loved about the original games is that when you equipped gear to your character, that gear would be visible during combat. I would replay fights over and over again just to get matching sets of gear because it just looked so cool. I downloaded this game in the hopes that it would have the same function, but was sorely disappointed to find that equipping gear doesn’t change your appearance whatsoever. Apart from that, the gameplay is similar and still enjoyable, and the game itself isn’t bad. I was just sad to see that my favorite part of the Sonny games was removed. Is it possible that in future updates equipped gear could actually be seen on your character?.Version: 2.0.20

✓ Team DifIt was fun for a bit, but eventually the game breaking CPU having your teammates use the absolute worst move possible for their turn over and over gets incessantly annoying. So much so that it limits what skills you can bring because Veradux will always open with the only other dispel ability for some reason and the doctor will always weaken the weakest enemy. I lost count how many times the two healers on my team completely ignore me while on critical health to either heal the other teammate or just attack a full health enemy when the enemy carry is at critical health which almost always results in my death. I can’t switch to a healer myself either because the two damage dealers on the team have the same exact problem. There is no way to reliably direct your teammates abilities in any way that matters and some traits have absolutely no way to do this. The game is way too reliant on luck..Version: 2.0.20
✓ Fix This Game!!!You think Blackhall Keep is bad wait until you fight in ZCPI Stronghold. I get the bosses health down very low for him to heal his entire bar back up with one heal for 50,000 or more hp. I don’t mind having to change my build and be strategic but this one is ridiculous, his speed is already insane then most of his moves either slow you or deplete focus making it hard to get a turn to hit him. Why make them that difficult and able to heal up that much?.... Newww!!!! No matter how many times I change my class setup he adjusts to it. This games is garbage. ✓ EhhhHuge fan of sonny 1 & 2. This is my first impression (concerns) here on this one. A lot of the cutscenes are silent with no ambiance music and it makes viewing them a bit awkward. So far I'm not able to see equipped loot on my character? This is a big bummer! Kinda takes away a lot of the excitement to get good items. (Also equipped weapons can't be seen and are also not animated) So far I've only noticed the one skill tree on sonny? I imagine you unlock more trees possibly as you go on with the game though. If this isn't the case then that's v disappointing! Takes away any replay ability for the game. (Sonny 2 had 3 different skill trees I believe and this added a few more playthroughs of the game) These are the concerns I have with the new game and I hope the feedback is useful to the devs!.Version: 1.0.4
✓ Fun game, but prepare to get stuck a lotSo the game is great in premise, with a few things that make it super frustrating: Gear: you have to constantly try different gear for different battles. The rarity of the gear has very little importance compared to the stat each piece is providing. It's annoying to have to switch out builds within one character...and gear is just one of a mandatory two ways you have to constantly adjust...often times post battle because you didn't know what to expect. Skills: You have to respec, and respec often. Super annoying to develop a bond with the type of character you are trying to play. A few other little things that make this game lame, but I do enjoy the story and what it could be. I'm on World Map 6, and I'm dreading the battle I'm currently "stuck" on because it means another respec, gear swap, and xp/gear grind..Version: 1.4.2
✓ Disappointed with equipmentI played Sonny years ago back when it was only on armour games and one of my favourite parts of the game were that the equipment I have equipped actually show on Sonny. Watching him half naked like that for 20 minutes like that is so boring let alone the whole game. Other than that, gameplay is still the same, story is the same from what I remember so that's good. ✓ Amazing potentialLove the game just one flaw. I’ve loved the sonny series since I was a kid when the first one came out and have been in anticipation for krina 3rd in the series. But ya.... I lost faith in that years ago haha, then I saw this and lost my ****. My only wish is that you guys would update it more. Sonny is CLEARLY one of if not THE biggest armor game fan base let’s be honest. PLEASE. Add more classes. Please. It makes for more play throughs and combinations for us to have fun and experiment with. Be creative or ask us for ideas maybe? And make the game LONGER. Just add levels every now and then kinda like an “after game” type thing. This franchise could be so much bigger than your making it. ✓ Incredible concept, poor executionThe original Sonny game will always remain one of my favourite browser RPG games of all time, however, this reimagining for IOS is fundamentally lacking aspects of Sonny that made it such a good game. Not being able to see the equips you give your characters seriously makes me question if this really is an RPG (I don't remember the last time I played an RPG where you couldn't SEE your equipment) with the combat system being as drab as it is, the screen really is lacking in some much needed aesthetics, as a player I want to see Endgame Sonny totally decked out in crazy gear that I spent my blood, sweat and tears earning, instead I'm seeing the same topless green zombie perform the same action over and over again. Overall, I think the developers of this game seriously misjudged what IOS gamers want from their games, aesthetics and customisation should be the priority and even though you may have wanted to stay true to Sonny's magnificent storyline, in my opinion, I believe the game would be significantly better if the factors listed above were taken into consideration..Version: 1.0.4

Difficulty, controls, music, disk space, familiar names but no character in common and a level subdivision worth of a C64 (element themed worlds ? In 2017? ✓ Needs workI love the series, and have beaten all the computer versions, but this is very buggy. A lot of the abilities just stop working in later stages. Past the fire stage, a lot of my abilities won’t do their entire ability. One of my shadow moves that heals, applied haste, and refreshes the last used move, won’t refresh anymore, it just doesn’t. As well, occasionally if I try to use a move after just evolving it, it simply won’t do anything. My character will just stand there and my turn will pass. When it becomes my turn again the move is on cool down even though nothing happened. Another buggy move is when I attempt to silence my enemies abilities. The move will hit and the silence will apply, but then they will use the move I silenced again right away, as if I never silenced them at all. The game can be really hard in some areas but I still find the game enjoyable, after all, is it really fun if you can beat it so soon? But it gets to the point where it can be really grindy. ✓ Stuck in an impossible loopI love the pc of sonny and sonny 2 and even the iOS version because it is reminiscent of my childhood. That being said they need to rebalance Blackhall keep. It’s gotten to the point where it’s impossible to win. They have a bunch of broken abilities like every time you attack you get just as much damage, one shot killing,increased defense, making all shots missed and unlimited healing with no cool down. I’m not saying make it easy, but it’s literally impossible. I’m leveled up all my characters 5 levels each since entering blackhall and switched up my abilities, and even with the revive with the ad i can’t win..Version: 2.0.20

✓ Good game but mechanics are brokenThe app store will probably wipe my review cuz it’s not 100% positive. But it’s a really great game except for the focus system even if you max out speed and focus gain the enmities will always be better than you and you will never get to go first. Leaving the shadow builds near unplayable due to the fact that all enemies target you in the beginning you will most likely die in the beginning of combat before even getting to take your turn. ✓ Ad pushing shameThe match against Inquisitor Leon is bs and you now it. If the game is allowed to go to round, like what.. 5(?), he one hits everyone. And even if you watch the ads, which this game pushes to the extreme, you’ll still come back and get one hit. Sorry but there’s no character build nor team that can overcome that. The only way is to excessively grind and watch ads. And this game pushes ads as a part of progression all the way up until this point. This is like area 4 of something like 8 or 9 so I dare not want to see the grind or ad watching required to go further. The game is shamelessly pushing the player to watch ads to progress otherwise just presenting the player with a great big wall of “nope, you watch that ad if you want a chance of passing this battle”. It’s obvious the devs have loaded the enemies to push for ad watches. Could’ve been a semi good game but as it is now it’s just an ad ridden grind..Version: 2.0.20
✓ ExpHey I love the game and all. I mean I’ve played this a long time ago when I was a kid and loved it but playing this again. Why do I gain low amount of exp when beating a boss? I’ve beated the 2nd boss and some other mini bosses and levels and yet I’ve gain low amount of Exp like I’ve gain just about 234exp from the mini bosses and 2nd boss and I didn’t even gain a single exp. I kid you not I beated a level and I see that I’ve gain 0 Exp. And my characters are no where near to max level. Can you fix that?.Version: 2.0.20
✓ ConflictedI was a huge fan of the original Sonny games. Honestly, they were some of the best flash games of my life. This game is nice, but I feel that it doesn’t live up to the quality of its predecessors. Gone are the flavor texts that gave so much personality to the characters and story. I miss the original Veradux. The lack of depth is what makes this reboot feel... cheap. The gameplay itself is very enjoyable and I love the additions of elemental abilities. The revive feature is one of the game’s saving graces. Unfortunately, the issue I’m running into is that the game is too balanced. There is no way to grind in the training grounds because the enemies get stronger based on the level of your party. I’m sure this was intended to help players focus on the strategy aspect of the game, but it only serves to frustrate the player. It’s pretty smart design, actually, since the gameplay is addictive. I probably watched 80 ads before I realized what was happening. It could have been a nice slow progression, but the developers got greedy to the point of making the game actively hostile toward the players. ✓ BugsFirst time playing the first battle and I can't tap anything because the dialogue is still there and can't be dismissed either. Restarting the game fixed this. Can't adjust any settings in the main menu, during a fight, or until getting past the first two fights. Only in between fights. Background music won't stay muted, it turns back on at the beginning of every fight, and when loading a save. Equipment slots getting overwritten by other items. The original item is lost and the slot becomes unusable. Can't remove the item or replace them. Not sure how to replicate this, but it stays after restarting..Version: 2.0.20
✓ The first Sonny was betterHonestly, this game is really fun to play. I really enjoyed playing the first game when I was very little and I got super hyped when I saw that Sonny 3 had just been released. But there are so many features that are missing. There are no battle animations, items don't show when equipped, conversations are too short and can be very boring, lack of voice acting, and there are less skills to choose from compared to the first game. There is also a glitch where when you train, the cut scene replays and it can get very annoying. Also, the game is way too easy. The beginning of the first game was way more challenging than this. And how come the guy's name is now Louis and no longer Louis the Blind? This confused me. The death of Louis was very plain and Sonny's reaction to his death was also very dull. Overall, Sonny 3 is quite disappointing since we have been waiting all this time for it and not a lot has come out of it. It's really just a dumbed down version of the first Sonny. I really don't like the character redesign and it just lacks all of the fantastic features that the original game provided. ✓ Balancing issuesI think this version ok but could be better, for one aspect, theres a huge difficulty spike when you get to zone 3. I understand if its pretty hard and you have to come up with a strategy but the enemies just become hulking bullet sponges. Balancing comes to play here you should make them hard but not hard enough to where you either have to spend a lot of time trying to get high enough to where you can somewhat defeat one enemy or one wave..Version: 2.0.20

✓ Auto attacks.I really am not liking that your allies auto attack. I miss the rpg setting of being able to control your teammates and the abilities they use. An enemy could be one hit away from dying and all my teammates do is heal themselves. Or both teammates use and waste both of their turns healing one another when we should attack instead. ✓ Re-review?Can’t remember if I reviewed this before, but the combat is addicting and has beautiful artwork. One maaaaajor problem is that you can’t control the other members of your team. This would go through the entire Sonny series including the pc versions. What’s the point in having members of a team you can’t interact with. I at least can equip them with better armor and etc. but It can be crucial whenever I’m fighting horrifically hard opponents, and I’d love to use my heals and special talents much more creatively. ✓ Really tough! And then suddenly... not.Too easy. Ok so the first few levels weren't, but let me explain. Would have rated 5/5 if I hadn't done the last two stages yet. first few stages I was in love. Doing it challenge mode with no training, it took me hours praying for the right RNG to beat some of the bosses, and I loved how I had to change abilities and reskill from fight to fight, and learn new strategies. Couldn't imagine how difficult the last two stages could be! Oh... they're not. Breezed through it all with the same abilities, if I lost, I bought some speed items from the shop and then proceeded to steam roll again. I perma stunlocked the last two bosses. I don't even know how challenging they could be, because I never saw their abilities. They were stunned 100% of the fight. Frost/lightning strain OP? I also found an exploit where if you wanted to, the right ability with the right Evo means you literally can't lose a fight. I wrote in a bug report and didn't use it in my run, but... clearly demonstrates there is still more balance work to be done! Oh well, I got my legend star..Version: 1.0.4
✓ Fix the balance of the gameIf you going to give someone 62k hp and let them do 4K dmg while I only 3.5k hp its impossible to beat the boss of the hidden first arcanis since he has his ultimate every 3 turn and you can't even heal your self back up to defend the closest I got him down to was 10k them boom annihilated my team in 2 hits. So fix this since it is not possible to even pass right now unless his orbs thingy actually help other than just heal you since he is way to fast as well does way to much dmg on top of that he has surpass. ✓ A TravestyAnyone that has played the original on Newgrounds will be met with extreme disappointment upon playing this. From a somewhat rough but unique art style we now have something that looks like a generic Korean anime. The animations present in the original are non-existant- characters now “move” and attack as if they were cardboard cutouts. Equipment no longer changes your character’s appearance, which is baffling to me considering a flash game from the early 2000s could do it yet the modern mobile version can’t. So this must mean that the team’s efforts went mainly into the gameplay? You’d be surprised how un-fun the game is - battles with even the weakest enemies feel like an ordeal, which could be great if the game wasn’t so stubborn about the way it wants you to play. The dev goes on about how much they focused on balancing, but that sounds ridiculous to me, since, after grinding for hours and being over leveled for my current area, enemies still take big chunks of your HP as if you never leveled up at all. Again, this could be fun if not for the mind-boggling decision to limit the number of specializations your character can have to two. For the supposed focus on tactics, this decision seems to almost have been made by mistake, as it severely limits the player’s flexibility in changing their play style if stuck on a difficult part of the game. Players who want to experience all the specializations the game has to offer have to make a new game and go through the first two chapters just to pick a different pair. This, combined with the HEAVY use of RNG used in combat made me quit the game on the undead-themed chapter, where the enemies are so strong I couldn’t even get past the first stage, even after several hours of grinding the previous area. It is sad to see such a great series in such a pitiful state. Had this been a remastered version of the original, or even the original and its sequel combined in one game, it undoubtedly would have been a huge success due to the fans the game still has after so many years. As it is now, this game is almost unplayable, and the team’s sorry attempts at damage control online do little but pour salt on the wound..Version: 2.0.20
✓ Nothing Like the OriginalI don’t understand how such an influential game in 2007 can be so poorly remade. When you wear armour it doesn’t even appear on your character. ✓ I want to like thisSonny was a game I remember playing when I was pretty young, procrastinating during and between classes and generally doing something I could enjoy. When I tried playing it more in depth, though, I started to realize how heavily it relied on grinding to extend the gameplay to a significant length. Plus, the original games had the issue of being horrendously unbalanced as certain play styles were complete garbage. When I saw this game was coming out I was kind of excited. I figured after so much time there would have been so much room to fix what made the game a slog years ago. Unfortunately, all I can say that improved were the graphics. I found that just about every major issue the old games had is present in this. The game will start fun, but abruptly hit a wall where everything is far stronger than your characters can handle, forcing you to actively grind for a very long time just to beat a boring level with waves of repeated damage sponges. I really wanted to give the game a chance to shine and prove my expectations wrong, but they turned out to be completely accurate. ✓ DisappointedWas super excited to find this gem after so many years since playing the original. Gameplay is great but it’s not without its issues. Super disappointing to see that the character’s appearance stay the same as you progress. A large part of the fun with most games like this is collecting new cool gear and getting to see the change in your character’s appearance. Was very sad to see that this version didn’t carry that part over from the original. Also have noticed a few small errors such as when you turn the music or sound effects off in the settings it works on that main screen but the music and sound effects fire right back up as soon as you start a match. Quite an annoying bug. Really hope these problems get addressed. With the right team working on it this would easily be a 5 star game like the original..Version: 2.0.20

✓ Only good for nostalgia, nothing elseFirst off, I loved how there were new enemies added in addition to more allies to choose from (in total 4) but I can say with absolute certainty that this game is impossible to beat without reviving your team every now and then whenever boss fights come around. I have beaten the game from start to finish abusing as much armour-ignoring attacks I could muster since the developers of this game loved creating enemies with huge amounts. I still remember fighting the cancerous trio: Warlock, spartan and naga. Absolutely disgusting. Warlock’s speed is 2000, attack is 1300 and defence is 3000. Good one developers. Final boss fight versus Carbon was impossible for me to beat without reviving my team and I played the fight perfectly. Went fire & ice strain, magma strike for constant 50% armour reduction every 2 turns, flash freeze whenever he uses the attack that enraged himself plus the fire strain buff removal whenever he used the 80% reduction buff to himself. Had regenerate, the restore 100 focus, heal and remove 5 seconds on last ability move, the ice strain armour-ignoring attack and drill strike. Was hitting around 7k damage constantly with those armour ignoring attacks whilst Veradux and the science dude was healing everyone to keep me dishing out heavy damage. Without the healing my team would’ve been wiped out insanely quickly. After a few evolutions for the physical strain and ice strain armour ignoring moves I was doing around about 15-28k damage per crit but thanks to his overpowered “power-up” passive that you can’t do anything about I was forced to revive via watching an ad. Had to do this with Leon as well. Finally, I’d like to say that I was disappointed I was never given the option to team up with Carbon in wiping out the remains of the ZCPI & InfectAid in addition to recreating human civilisation as biologically augmented super-zombies. The ending was so perfect in summarising how bad this game’s storyline is that I deleted the game off my phone and will not play it ever again to test out the other strains..Version: 2.0.20

✓ Slow pacePlease add an option to make battle animations quicker... A full settings page would be so helpful. Sitting through long animations makes grinding really irritating and in a way boring. I wanna play battles in like 2x or 4x speed please. Especially because theres no option to view a character's buffs/debuffs while the animations are going! Makes it harder to think of strategies in the downtime while sitting through npc's turns!! This could be a fun game to re-live nostalgia, and I really wanna like it.Version: 2.0.20

✓ Way too hardI'm guessing all the reviews saying this game is easy stopped playing after the 3rd world... Remember playing sonny when I was younger. Was my favourite game. I'm giving this 1 star because for some reason after I beat the 3rd world, about half way through the 4th world, I die pretty much straight away. The computer is way too over powered this early in the game. I think this may be a glitch though, as I tried training, and die straight away too, even going back to the third world to train, I cannot win, and had no problem beating third stage training before.. So it's like all of a sudden the games nearly unplayable for me. I can train in world 2, for 150ish experience at a time... But who the has time for that? Poor effort.Version: 1.0.4
✓ Nostalgia hitI bought this game purely based on the nostalgia of playing sonny as a child. And whilst it is a beautiful, reimagined version of sonny, it's lacking compared to the original. The original sonny was a hard RPG lite, with a focus on tactics, abilities and teamwork. There are no battle animations which I can live with. Equipping gear is purely for stats, therefore all of the different items just become faceless, generic stats which is borderline bearable. The story follows the same vein but is vastly different in so many aspects to the point where I stopped comparing it to the original sonny and just went with it, but again, I can live with and enjoy this. They also lost a lot of the special things that made this game feel alive and full of character, like the flavour text for items or the atmosphere. What I cannot forgive is that your team members are controlled by AI and whilst the AI is by no means stupid. It really limits this game to a linear experience. But there are good things too, the original music and voice acting (or convincingly similar voice acting) is really great. Sadly, this game just feel like a dumbed down version of sonny and whilst it's not a bad game, will leave a sour taste in your mouth if you came expecting a remastered version of sonny. Nice try armored games, you still have my love and support for making my childhood great :).Version: 1.0.4
