✓ Great classic , a bit too hardI have not played with the original , but this is a great game . Well-thought storyline , entertaining characters and lots of quirks. While is it not super flashy , i like the graphic too. However , the puzzles are often too hard . I ended up checking walkthroughs quite a few times. Many occasion the solution was something I tried often multiple times, but did not work for me . Often things required perfectly precise timing or clicking on a the precise location, which is fine if you play on a PC. But playing on a phone screen using your finger doesn’t give you that kind of precision. Also watching the character walking between location is annoyance . There should be a skip cutscene options.Version: 1.0.4

✓ AmazingWell worth the money. Grim Fandango was a favourite of mine along with the original Broken Sword and Monkey Island so to be able to play it on the go is fantastic. The world is as captivating and immersive as I remember it. Such a fantastic game. Fans of classic films (Casablanca, Citizen Kane) will also love the little nods the game makes to certain settings and characters. ✓ Compelling, atmospheric, laugh out loud funny...I've just finished my first play-through of this iOS version of Grim Fandango, and I felt compelled to come and write this review. In my opinion, Grim Fandango is quite simply one of the best video games ever made. It's hard to put your finger on what makes it so great, I think it must be just a perfect combination of a brilliant storyline, super talented voice actors, and a musical score worthy of an Academy Award if it had been written for a movie. These three things come together flawlessly, and the result is a video game with such an incredible atmosphere that you won't want to leave the Grim Fandango universe and return to reality. Some of the puzzles are fiendishly hard, and yes, you will get stuck occasionally. But my advice is, put the game down for a while, get some sleep, then look at it again the next day with a fresh mind. You'll usually find the solution was staring you right in the face! Congratulations to the team who did this conversion for iOS, you've done a fantastic job, and thank you for enabling me to relive my memories of when I first played this sublime game on a Windows PC. It looks beautiful on my iPad Air. The only crashes I experienced were when I tried to view a transcript of dialogue, but I suspect this may have been because my iPad was low on storage space. ✓ Pure Classic and many memoriesIt's been 25 years since the first release in 1998! TIME FLIES! WOW! I was 11 years old and literally obsessed with LucasArts' adventure games. They literally impregnated my imagination forever. This first 3D take on the genre was also groundbreaking! I'm so lucky to have grown up with such inspirational pieces of art. The game still holds up pretty well, and this remastered version is great for introducing this adventure to a new generation of gamers, or anyone up for an unforgettable story. These dialogues are timeless. The language and conversations in this story have endured beautifully, still resonating with contemporary audiences. ✓ A classic which has aged wellSeeing Grim again was like meeting and embracing an old friend. It looks, sounds and plays surprisingly well given its age. I have nothing but love for this game. ✓ So far, so GrimGrew up in the 80s but never played this one. Saw my bro play Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle. After reading glowing reviews wanted to try this. First the story is humorous. Secondly I did not encounter any freezes on the mini iPad 4. Inventory worked, no bugs and I'm in year 4 and almost done. I found out double clicking makes you run. And if you hold your finger on the screen and drag- a circle cursor appears whenever there is an actionable item. Very helpful in knowing what you can do. And yes a walk through is essential and required. Going to be sad when I finish this game- it's been that interesting. Overall worth the $1 sale, feels like a steal really. Cheaper than a snickers bar. When this came out I use to buys snickers 5 for $1. How I miss those days....Version: 1.0.4

✓ WOW, I LOVE THIS GAME EVEN MORE!!!This game has to be my most favourite game of all time, and to me it has just got better. Game play is just like the old game I started to play many years ago, only a lot more smoother and the graphics are also so much smoother. Haven't had a single lock up at all, and have just finished it. I can't speak for how others may feel about the price, but I consider this game to be a bargain, as this is a game I used to play at least every fortnight on my PC, and never gets boring, and I will probably play it as regular as I did then. I have just upgraded my iPad from a 4 to an Air 2 just for this game and have no regrets. Already knowing the game, I had no doubt in paying £7.99 for it as I knew I was going to love it, but maybe they should have released it as an unlock full game from within it to allow others to try it first. ✓ I loved it!I played this game on PC several years ago, so when I saw it had been remastered I downloaded it and played again. Thankfully I didn’t remember the solution so it was like playing it all over again. If you like puzzles and have the patience to solve them, this game will keep you entertained for hours. Some puzzles are really hard to solve and you will be few days stuck trying everything and still no able to solve them and it could be frustrating, but that’s part of the fun of playing these kind of games. The puzzles don’t need to be solved in order as someone stated in one of the comment, but in some cases you do need to complete something in order to move forward. If you like games that you advance quickly, this game is not for you. But if you enjoy using your brain, don’t get discouraged if it takes you 1 or 2 days to solve a puzzle, have patience to walk around, talk to everyone and try everything on each part, you will enjoy it. I read someone wrote you don’t have a cursor to check what you can click on, that’s not true. Just hold your finger on the screen and move it around and you will ‘activate’ the cursor and you will be able to see what things are interactive. I didn’t have any problems with sound or saving/loading the game. Hope Lucas Arts remasters other classic games like Monkey Island Saga, Sam & Max, Maniac Mansión, etc. Big fan of Lucas Arts old Adventure games here :).Version: 1.0.4

✓ Takes you backIf you loved the original PC classic, get this. If you didn't, get this. The glitches I remember seem to have been fixed – also, in one of the recent app reviews someone lists something re: Chepito as a glitch that's just a feature of the game. Sometimes they don't want to access your items! It means there's a different way round it. In any case, just save regularly and you'll be fine, e.g. with the axe. That happened to me and I got round it. Had no other issues. It's also super easy to play on a phone with only a few minor exceptions. Awesome, detailed, compelling stuff..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Unique and very playableA fantastic story that's like nothing else I can think of. The music is also brilliant. A few minor quibbles: I found it difficult sometimes to work out what I could and couldn't pick up; clicking around the screen to try picking up things moves the character around which you don't always want to do. In Monkey Island it seemed more obvious what you could interact with. This meant I had to resort to hints sometimes only to find the answer was what I had thought only I hadn't realised I could pick that object up. Similarly, it wasn't always obvious that you could walk off screen and find more to interact with. Walking around generally was a little bit clunky. Overall though, fantastic game. Having forgotten most of the puzzles, I found it fun to re-engage with the plot. The artwork and character development are first class. ✓ Great FandangoHad to rewrite my review. After an initial crash and failure to reload I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I had to start from the beginning but then no trouble. I had one glitch in the escape room with the axe where I dropped it at edge of screen and couldnt pick it back up but as I’d recently saved it I just went back and ensured I didn’t drop it in the same place! Love this game. Wonderful soundtrack, beautiful design, characters and scripts are really funny, witty and entertaining. A must if you’ve never played it before. ✓ 10 out of 10!For a game from 1997, this is fantastic even for today’s standards! I assume it’s been reworked a bunch to work on iOS, but I was still blown away by the quality of this game. The graphics were excellent, the story was very creative, the music was very cool, and the voice acting was top-notch. A lot of humor as well, and with a film-noir vibe. I will admit, it was a bit tricky to solve, but I feel that’s what also made it good. It wasn’t too easy. And if I got stuck, I just went to a walkthrough. There were no glitches, and it would auto-save whenever you accomplished anything significant. Thank you to LucasArts for producing the game to begin with, and thank you to Apple for putting it out again. ✓ Interesting and well-madeThis game is very interesting as it has a great storyline from the start with the voice overs and not just that, but changing in the scenes being a game and having actions in Manny, the character you play. The interesting music is also played at moments which either puts suspense or matches the scene. There is an adventure you have to go through and some parts may be confusing as you actually have to figure out what to do next and the cut scenes are well-made. It also offers a fantastic experience and playability for the touchscreen and transportable interface. After 17 years!This is an old school game and will require some reading and thinking, if you like the kind of game that requires crazy tapping on the screen, you won't like it.
