MusicStreamer for Positive User Reviews

Works greatThese guys are awesome, they really make a quality product that works. It quickly scans your network and finds your shared drive just like FileBrowser. No need to manually map network drives. I haven’t had access to my music for years, now I do and it is great. Easily create playlists, copy paste album art if you want. Everything streams off your network drive/share freeing up tons of space on your mobile device..Version: 5.6

Excellent replacement for the “Remote” appI bought this to take the place of the remote app which is now defunct with the latest iteration of Apple Music. A bit fiddly to set up but the app support was excellent at helping me get round my Mac’s security and now it works great. I especially like that I can play all my music files - not just those acceptable to Apple Music. No complaints..Version: 5.6

Looking goodI like what I see so far. The app finds my SMB shares and creates a nice interface to browse my music. I wish it would let me select multiple sub-folders within a share's tree though ... I'm finding the limitation of one folder per share somewhat annoying. Otherwise, I'm happy with the browsing and streaming functionality. Hoping for continued development on this very promising app..Version: 2.0

Absolutely indispensable!Version 5... MusicStreamer just keeps getting better and better. A company that listens to what you say and doesn’t simply fix bugs but improves the user’s experience with new features. I still find this app—like its cousin FileBrowser—absolutely indispensable. It works beautifully for all my music requirements. I use it every day. I tried a number of players before discovering that Stratopherix had built one. Without their FileBrowser I would have packed in my iPad long ago. So I was delighted to find they had this product and I am not disappointed. Only version one so far but still by far the best thing out there. And if FB is anything to go by this is going to be a great product. And just as Apple decide to drop the home sharing link to iTunes this is more than an adequate replacement. You don't need iTunes anymore! Worth ten times the price too, any day..Version: 5.0

Bringing The Future One Step NearerA no-brainer five stars for this because I cannot do six. This has revolutionised how I listen to music and that is a big deal. No longer am I shackled to iTunes and endless iPod syncs in order to play music with the majority of tracks stuck on a hard disc patiently waiting their turn. Now I have direct access to the external hard disc on the laptop on my iPad… Get started instructions are very comprehensive for connecting to your outside source and once done, connect and as if by magic the music becomes available on your iPad. Bluetooth to your Alexa or amplifier and you are golden. The interface is ITunesesque but presentable and not over burdened. There are the familiar visuals, playlists and searching… Certainly this is well worth the price and I defy anyone to be disappointed..Version: 6.5

Cloud StorageCan you add the ability to connect to and sync from cloud storage such as Onedrive and Sharepoint Online? I would like to store my music in an online document library..Version: 5.5

Good app, ugly theme, but works well. Also it doesn’t handle compilations nicely, other than that it is a solid app..Version: 5.0

Brilliant App!This is exactly the app I was looking for. I am amazed there aren’t more similar apps out there in this age of digital music collections. Eventually, I will get a Sonos or network audio player, but for now Music Streamer does what I want..Version: 5.0

Good got better.Had this app on my iPad Air for some time now and it’s proved its worth. Really simple to set up with my Time Capsule which I use as a network drive. No problem with the latest update however, and here’s the rub - I spent a load of time searching for the eq control with no luck. Was there one pre this upgrade. With the upgrade, I still can’t find the elusive eq presets. It’s going to send me nuts, Update: First class customer support from Stratospherix, works like a dream. Thanks guys!!!.Version: 6.0

ExcellentHighly recommended. Allows me to easily stream my music collection to my iPhone whilst at home or at work. Mark.Version: 4.1

Updating My Review again... Excellent App... Period! This is a great app for streaming music. I have not found anything close for streaming from a NAS especially if you want to stream high bitrate/bitdepth files to an external USB DAC. As of the latest update the devs have recently addressed all of my gripes. I can now say that this is a solid five star app. Great job! The great news: 1. They fixed the issue with high resolution Flac files not being sent to an external DAC in the correct format. The app used to downsampling these, now works great. Thanks! 2. Fixed my tiny UI quibble... the UI has now been updated to scale nicely on a large iPad Pro. Thanks! 3. Fixed Flac bit rate issue. Thank you! Wish list: 1. Apple TV app. Would love something similar for Apple TV. It would be great to have access to SMB music files with the similar experience on home theater. Obviously wouldn’t get the same external DAC support but would still be nice. I’d even pay more for a premium..Version: 5.0

Definite buy for mp3 owners! After sifting through many, many, music apps, this is the one. If you want to be able to stream and local sync, for offline playback, your own mp3s from your own PC or Mac, this is the app. Do yourself a favour, support the developer and buy the full version (with local sync function)..Version: 5.6

Very good appI used to use FileBrowser to listen to my music remotely and experienced several problems. MusicStreamer solved them all. You should add the functionality to play randomly music pieces from a playlist..Version: 1.5

Great ProductI am an iPhone user, but I have 9000 songs I ripped from CDs I purchased over 20 years on a hard drive that I can’t listen to on iTunes. This app lets me have access. Easy to do. Easy controls. Thanks..Version: 5.6

Keeps getting better! 😍Fast, easy to use music app. More apps, and their companies should be like this. Well done..Version: 7.4

Superb App - So Glad I Found It!To start with, I’m just going to quote from the developer’s own description since it’s better worded than anything I was going to write: “Do you have a music collection with thousands of files on your PC, Mac, Network Drive or Time Capsule? Now you can play that music directly on your iPad / iPhone without syncing. MusicStreamer will scan your music, display beautiful album artwork and is a joy to use.” I couldn’t agree more! The app elegantly solves the problem of getting my several thousand song files located on a NAS drive over to my iPad, where i can then connect to Bluetooth speaker or headphone. You can filter by artist, album, genre, set up playlists, and play tracks sequentially or randomly. The app connect to my drive with no problem and is a breeze to us. Also, I had one question and received a detailed personal response with all the answers I was looking for. I can go into my back room wood shop and have all my music coming in on my nice headphones. It’s a beautiful thing!.Version: 6.2

One of the best!Well worth the few quid they charge for this app. Works perfectly and connects to my routers usb drive very quickly, the album/artist/track hierarchy layout is simply the tidiest I’ve seen! Just a few minor niggles I have, nothing that would stop me from recommending it to friends, but it’s not got the UI look that we are used to nowadays(hint! layout update), having to move back and forth between [See Album] and [See Playlist] to use the scrubber or volume etc is a bit of a pain, maybe a little musical note on the apps icon so it looks more like a music app. Keep up the good work.Version: 5.0

Love this app! It's the best.Well designed functions and effective user interface - Streamer is the best music player by far. Not only does Streamer allow easy and effective tools for programming a seamless music stream, it connects easily, and reliably stays connected to my dlink router media server, and sends to a choice of discovered output adapters like AppleTV , Bluetooth, linksys extender, chrome cast. The filtering, selection and searching functions in Streamer make loading and managing the play cue effortless. And creating, editing and using playlists is a snap. After ripping all my CDs to my hard drive years ago, I finally have an effective tool to keep my music flowing, controlled from wherever my wifi reaches. I love it!.Version: 2.8

Superb AppA really outstanding feature rich music streaming app with a first rate user interface. I particularly like the ability to scan several distinct music libraries and save them with individual user defined names. Whilst the scanning process can take an hour or so for very large libraries, once complete all the information is stored within the app and is available to view both off/online without requiring any time-consuming re-scanning (unless requested by the user)..Version: 6.4

Just the job, great app!Have been trying to find a simple app to stream from a NAS where all my music is backed up. This app does this perfectly and easily. Very simple to set up, point to your music folder and off you go. Stream from the NAS to my phone then to a Bluetooth speaker, play any of my music anywhere in the house without the main PC being on, perfect!.Version: 5.0

ThanksWorks perfectly with my NAS! Excellent product, look forward to future updates!.Version: 3.0

ExcellentFor those who want to be outside the iTunes universe. This is an excellent player..Version: 4.1

This is exactly what I neededI was looking for a way to stream music from my Brennan B2 cd ripper/NAS box so that my wife can listing when working in the backyard. I found this app somehow, and wow. This is an amazing app. It takes a bit of time to learn, but being able to stream high quality FLAC files is a real treat. This is easily the best 4 dollars I’ve ever spent..Version: 5.6

Feature requestAn excellent app, as all other reviews will attest. I’m thinking about the upcoming iPad Pro with two terabytes of storage ... I could copy the bulk of my music collection to the new device ... it would be nice to use Musicstreamer on my device to listen to music on my device ....Version: 6.4

Flexible digital audio streamingSeamlessly streams my collection of digitized music. Most are stored on local NAT drive. Nice interface and reliable streaming. Works as desired..Version: 5.2

Superlative, amazing, wow...I discovered this app a month ago, and it does everything I want, reliably, simply and smoothly, all for the price of a sack of peanuts... It's a no-brainer..Version: 6.3

Perfect! It's a fantastic app for playing your music collectionI have been using this app for about two years. I love it! Nothing else comes even close to the ease of use and the quality streaming to my Apple TV and Chromecast. Thank you writing such a fantastic app. I think this app is fantastic. It is very reliable for playing music and has great playlist functionality. I love how you can tap on the album cover at the top of the app and a large cover will be displayed. Thanks so much for adding a search and playback through Apple TV and Chromecast! The random selections for playing are excellent especially the dice mode! Adding the ability to download my music in this app is an excellent idea, now I can take my music with me when I go out!.Version: 4.0

M3U import bugEdit: UTF-8 encoding issue. Converting my playlists to M3U8 did the trick. 5/5 again. This app is great, and worth the money purchase, BUT there seems to be a bug with importing M3U playlists via FileBrowser when the file path contains umlaut characters. It will cause the whole playlist to fail to import. Hoping a dev sees this and looks into it so I can bump my review up to the 5 stars it otherwise deserves..Version: 5.0

Fantastic appI spent ages looking for a way to stream 5000 albums from a NAS to AirPlay and Chromecast via a mobile device. This app met all the requirement with elegant simplicity and reliability. Scanning the library was amazingly fast. All this for a reasonable price. Well done..Version: 6.2

Fantastic music streamerThis flat out the best solution for all your music streaming needs. I would add the request for an Apple TV version, and certainly would pay to support the devs. The support from these guys is also top notch. Thank you for a terrific music solution!.Version: 7.1

Das ist fantastische!Great app, intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. Would be worth 5 stars if I could use on Apple Watch..Version: 6.8

Perfect app!I use to stream music off my PC while sitting out on the deck. It’s great!!!.Version: 6.8

Almost perfect, some flawsWorks most of the time. I am using it with a NAS drive and it managed to browse to all the folders on it and not just the default music library folders and pulled album art etc. Speed is good when changing tracks despite my slow wifi and outdate DNS320 NAS. There are some issues when used with chromecast audio. Sometimes it refuses to re-connect to the chromecast if music is interrupted by another app. Not sure if the chromecast disconnects or it is something to do with the app. But the connection to the chromecast has to be manually restored. Sometimes the ipad has to be restarted before it would reconnect to the chromecast. Most of the time music resumes once any other interrupting app is closed which is a good feature. Playback style is a bit odd as any track you select is automatically added to the playlist even if you only want to play it. Replay gain is not supported which is rather inconvenient..Version: 5.0

AmazingThank you, so good I deleted the Apple Music app from my phone. My music how I want it, so easy to just download the music I want to my phone for offline playing while I’m out at work. You don’t know just how happy this app has made me, well worth every penny paid. Now we need an Apple TV version to play movies and tv shows too…Please🙏.Version: 6.8

AmazingThis is my new favourite thing to listen to music it has got so many things to do but you need to use it right people think it’s bad you just need to use it right.Version: 6.9

Love This AppNeeded a music player that would free me from iTunes and allow me to stream from my music library on a NAS and this app does the job perfectly and plays flac files! Allows you to download specific tracks or albums to the iPad for offline listening. Easy set up. Playlists, queuing, search, filter, everything I need with complete control. Also works well with CarPlay. Just great..Version: 6.4

Great app but recent problemI’ve been using the paid version for a couple of years now and am happy with how it works although I find the interface a little cluttered. Just recently it has stopped connecting to my WD My Cloud Home NAS drive so I can’t use it. This could be to do with the changes to SMB that came in with macOS Big Sur which cause me to have to drop SMB and use AFP instead to connect from my MacBook. That’s not an option on IOS which can connect only through SMB. Please can you tell me if others have reported this problem and it there is a fix available?.Version: 6.4

Well doneI'm using MusicStreamer to play music (flac) being streamed from a Raspberry pi using Samba. Connecting was simple and the app GUI is really nice..Version: 7.9

It just works!Streams hi-res music files to iPad without having to pre-convert to lo-res. Rapidly re-scans music source on my network. Great interface, uses album art alongside album details. Tried Onkyo, Foobar2000, VLC, Plex, NuPrime Audio, MonkeyMote, and MusicStreamer is the best of the lot..Version: 4.1

Best Music Streaming AppIf your music is stored on a NAS, this app is definitely the one to have. Easy to setup. Supports the iPad Pro and iPhone 6S perfectly. Gapless playback works well. Imports playlists easily using another excellent Stratospherix app, FileBrowser. Works perfectly with all my Bluetooth devices. Reads MP3 tags flawlessly and quickly as it sets up your music library. I recommend this app highly. I use Kodi for music playback on my home theater and MusicStreamer easily shares the same folders for my IOS devices. The technical support is also excellent..Version: 2.5

Where is the guide? The guide to connect is not working since the last update..Version: 5.4

Great appDoes what you expect and more. Very responsive and helpful support as well..Version: 5.0

Love this App so farThis is the App I was looking for. Supports me accessling my server-based music collection without having to load on my phone but provides the option to download for on-the-go when required. Great format support such as FLAC. My two wishes are: - add DSD support so I don't have to convert (or alternately direct ISO support for SACD) - display the encoding, bitrate, sample rate, sample size, etc for the currently playing track (see Vox for a good example).Version: 6.2

Excellent app but with one flawMy only criticism is that I have my music in multiple locations. This would be a perfect app if I was able to merge those together so I could select from my full collection in one go without having to switch servers..Version: 5.6

Perfect15 minutes after tapping install, all my albums stored on my PC were available to play from my iPad..Version: 7.3

Fantastic App!!!So nice to have easy access to my full music collection whether the files are FLAC, AAC, MP3 or others. Two suggestions, please, 1) offer ability to sort by track # instead of file name and 2) add a Genre selector similar to the current Album and Artist selectors..Version: 4.2

OutstandingThe only criticism I can make about this app is that it lacks a ‘Rate 5 stars’ option, forcing you to head to the App Store to give it the inevitable excellent review. The intuitive interface offers everything you need and every feature works as you expect, which is no simple achievement. I bought it to play Apple Lossless files from a NAS and it works beautifully..Version: 6.0

Great with Chromecast AudioGreat app to control stream local music from my NAS tosingle or mutiple Chromcast Audio devices. Nice interface for your music library. Easy to set up. Very good and responsive customer support when there was an update (automatic over the air) to the Chromecast Audio and this caused issues. Issue was ackwnoledged when I e-mailed customer support and update was done to fix the issue within a couple of days. All is now again working great. The best app for this application that i have found..Version: 3.0

Essential App from Essential PublisherThis app was essential years ago. The fact it is still getting updated is incredible. The ability to save 3 different 10-band EQ settings plus still having the multiple presets just made it better when I didn’t think it was possible. The real star of this app though is the ability to connect directly to my NAS and stream without taking up phone storage. If you want to play offline, a simple click will download tracks, albums, playlists and it’s just as easy to remove to free storage. I could go on and on but I will say the only app that’s more useful is also by this publisher. FileBrowser is the easiest way to move files across everywhere. It’s easier than using a desktop computer. If you don’t have FileBrowser and ever have to move files around, you’re living in the dark ages. Stratospherix makes 2 of the most powerful apps on my phone and I will never be without them. Nice job and thank you!.Version: 7.6

Works really well with QNAPI have looked and tried many apps to stream my NAS FLAC music collection of some 50k tracks to my iPad Pro then I finally found this it was easy to set up and after week of use all going well ..Version: 5.2

ExcellentAnother quality app from this company. Very stable and works as claimed. Company was quick to reply for advice for my circumstance. Very happy to recomend. Thank you.Version: 2.9

Great!Been using this for a couple years now primarily for my flac collection. Love the improvements and regular updates..Version: 6.2

Great player - all functions actually workHope they continue development on this - it’s a great music player, but could use a few improvements to let users: 1. Add more than one directory for music sources 2. Sync playlists to iCloud or a NAS. 3. Create a playlist from search results 4. Search with a full ASCII character set (can search on “80s”, but not “80’s”) Still, great - super handy for playing my folder of podcasts..Version: 5.3

Best possible app for streaming musicThis app is easy to use, fast, and works flawlessly. I use it to stream music from a Synology NAS, and it’s far superior for that purpose than any NAS-resident solution (Flex, iTunes, etc.)..Version: 5.6

Where are my playlists?Great player, but needs a few more tweaks to be the best. Why can’t it see my playlists? Every other player picks them up… or am I missing something??.Version: 6.8

Best I’ve seenI’ve tried lots of music streamers on my ipad but none really cut it. This is simply the best and great value for money. It is really quick to scan my home server and plays great. I love the random tracks/albums feature. RECOMMENDED!.Version: 6.6

Best music streaming appHello, I am loving this app. It helps me to play all of the files stored on my NAS. But there is a issue I want to mention. This app failed to extract tag data (like Album art) from opus file. Can you look into the issue? Thank you so much..Version: 6.8

Brilliant - Functionality we actually need!At last, a way to play & store your music on a device without using up expensive iPhone memory. I have all of my music files stored on a NAS server & can now access via iPhone, Mac, TV etc without multiple copies. Also great to take a local copy with me on holiday & delete when back home. Good Job guys:-) Could you please consider GUI or text zooming to improve accessibility..Version: 4.2

Light years aheadMusicStreamer is that rare app which is better than anything else available, and yet continues to improve. It handles collections in the tens of thousands with ease, and is rock solid. One can stream from a NAS drive or attached SSD, wirelessly to any Bluetooth/ AirPlay input such an an AV controller or enabled amp. Adding/ removing/ searching on the fly works like a dream. Support, although rarely needed, is also top quality and fast. BTW, if you have a Bluesound node of any variety, the BluOS app is only good for shaping sound and volume. THIS app is light years ahead for playlists, stability, changing track order or content on the fly, etc..Version: 7.8

Keeps getting better!Stream from NAS - check Set different NAS locations (my music/family music) - check Auto find music on network - check Save tracks for offline play - check Stream to airplay or chromecast - check Playlists - check Random playlist creation - check Alt screen with big button controls for driving - check This baby does it all, pay the couple bucks and enjoy! I do..Version: 4.1

The best DNLA client appI have tried most of the UPnP/DNLA apps on the App Store and MusicStreamer is by far the best. It is simple to use, whilst being both responsive and reliable. It copes with large music collections by building a local index of your library. Updates to the library is handled well by a quick rescan which looks for any changes. Gapless playback work perfectly which is great for live albums. There is still room for improvement though. The filter allows you to browse by genre, but it is not possible to filter by year of release (which would be very useful to filter to albums released this/last year). The UI is nicely designed, but it would be great to have a few different colour themes to choose from..Version: 5.0

ITunes AlternativeMusicStreamer was just what the doctor ordered. Although I use a PC, iTunes is designed for iOS systems. With MusicStreamer, one can just about disregard iTunes altogether. I can play all of my music through my iPhone or my iPad without iTunes. Such a relief!! I can really only think of one thing for improvement. That would be the inclusion of an equalizer. The product support was great when I needed it. Those guys were right there providing the help I needed. Oh yeah; if your concerned about the cost, just toss that notion out. You really can’t find anything better for streaming your music at home or work (as the case may be). If I could, I’d only give 4 1/2 stars for the lack of an equalizer. So 5 will have to do..Version: 5.0

Great Great AppI have been researching a way to play PC and NAS stored music to our 8 Chromecast Audio speaker setup. Google searches had us jumping through hoops to do it. This Amazing app scanned and found all our streaming sources in 60 seconds and showed then showed Chromecast devices icon when playing music from my PC. No iTunes or any PC software required! Just share you top level music folder and enable Media Sharing in Network Sharing Center. Absolutely worth the 3.99!!!!.Version: 5.0

Almost PerfectNice work Dev, this is what Apple’s Music app should have been - let people play music that they own without having to jump through hoops or pay an ongoing subscription. One small request - if it is possible to sync playlist between devices via iCloud, it would be perfect..Version: 6.8

Just what I neededI grabbed this app because I wanted to stream music from my Nas to my Apple HomePod it has worked flawlessly and I cannot find any faults at this stage, I have been using it for 3 months so fingers crossed.Version: 5.5

An actual offline music player that doesn’t suckWorks really well for my needs. Picks up the music perfectly fine and indexing was very quick..Version: 8.0

Keeps getting betterVersion 6 is awesome. It seems to scan large collections much faster now. I like the play history option. While it would be nice to have a “back” option to play a previous track in the normal play queue, this queue assists with that. The EQ option is a plus though I have not had an opportunity to try it outside of using a soundbar. And.... color themes!!! Thank you. I always look forward to the the updates; they are worth waiting for..Version: 6.0

Excellent NAS PlayerBeing an “oldie” I always buy CD’s and then save them on my WD NAS Drive, then give them away - just in case. This is by far the best solution I have found for playback of the albums, with a fully inclusive player and search solution. I love the search facility for finding the album artwork, which maybe could be improved by allowing them to duplicate when you use the app on other devices, apart from that I can’t criticise this app in any way..Version: 5.2

Excellent but one serious issueIn general this is a brilliant app to use for streaming music from my NAS (Brennan B2) to my phone/iPad around the house. UX wise it is as good, if not better than the baked in IPhone music player. Fast searches, good to use. Two small issues and one serious issue, though: Serious issue: - occasionally a song will start but no sound comes out. When you restart the track, the sound is fine. This happens maybe 1 in 10 times, which is common enough to be really annoying. Please fix! Small issues: - using id3 tags you can search by artist, but it won’t actually show you the name of the artist (if song is on a compilation, for example). So browsing compilations, you won’t know who the artist is on any songs. - there is a gap between songs on the same album. I appreciate it is streaming songs from a source, but it should cue the next song sufficiently to not have a gap. When playing a dj mix album, or an audiobook, this is especially noticeable. If these issues were fixed this would be 5-Stars for sure..Version: 5.0

Top app, excellent support.Five stars from me. I use it for sleep learning. Negligible power drain, works online and offline, switching automatically during power outages, speed function is great. Highly recommend for a well throughout product that has timely, comprehensive support. Well done guys. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍😊.Version: 7.3

Great app. Could you randomise libraryTo the developers: when I open the list, i would love to be able to show the list of albums and tracks or artists in a random order which changed each time you open the app. That would be a bit more like when we have all the albums on the shelf and we go to find something and bump into something else!! Otherwise I just see Abba every time I open the app and I never see ZZ top. Would have emailed this suggestion to you but can't find an email address on your website. To anyone else looking for a review. It's a great app. It works very well and looks quite cool. it is the only app I have found that can connect from a WD Mycloud home NAS and cast to a Google Chromecaste audio. Which is what I needed..Version: 5.0

Great for streaming large NAS libraryFinally found an excellent app for streaming from my NAS drive. App catalogues/indexes file info for quick loading and playback. Impressed so far..Version: 7.0

Everything I needWhen I found this app, I almost couldn’t believe it. It solved so many of my current issues. I’m a user of pc on desktop, but iPhone for mobile, so I’m always looking for programs that are friendly cross-platform. MusicStreamer provides a robust music manager and player that casts easily from my PC home server to my Chromecast Audio units, which was the main reason I got the app. Flawless solution to this problem. I was also looking for a way to transfer files from my pc to my phone without iTunes, which I did not want to install on my pc. MS allows easy downloading and removal of music files, which can then be played using the regular manager while you’re on the go. I have a large library of hi-res music files- mostly FLAC. MS supports these formats when casting or listening on your phone. It’s compatible with tags used in MediaMonkey (which I use) so my files were already structured correctly, and accessing them required no work. Finally, playlist building is fast and easy. I have no complaints. This is a lightweight, solidly featured program that’s makes it easy to access your whole library from your phone.Version: 5.4

Handy and HelpfulAllows me to play my iTunes library through the Chromecast. Nathan from the support team was very prompt and helped me troubleshoot the setup..Version: 6.8

Excellent AppStable, well designed app. Does everything I want it to do and does it well..Version: 6.8

The best music player on the App Store.I’ve used this for many years and it’s one of those apps that just works no matter what you throw at it. It never misbehaves, never freezes and plays everything. My music library is on a NAS and is a mixture of every format available. MS plays everything without a hiccup!.Version: 6.9

Serviceable way to access music on NASThis app is fast, responsive, and minimalist, though its UI is pretty seriously outdated. Everything is crammed onto one screen, making it a little annoying to browse or search your library. Your play queue is hidden in the playlist tab, for some reason, though it works great once you find it. Those gripes aside, I can finally listen to my mp3 collection on a flash drive plugged into my router's usb port. Pretty nifty!.Version: 6.2

Awesome app for NAS drives!I have been looking for an app that does all this! Stream off my NAS drive, and queue up songs. What a great app..Version: 4.2

Perfect!Exactly what I was looking for! I have a mobile router with a USB drive in the car and this lets me scan the shared folder for all of my songs. A+ and thank you! 😊.Version: 7.5

StoppedLoved this app but it stopped connecting to my win10 desktop. It turned out to be a Win10 update problem. Now solved. Still love this app. I can play my music collection in my garden..Version: 5.0

Great new updateAs a longtime user, I definitely appreciate the continued support for this app! It would be nice to have an option to make the album art larger. EDIT: Thanks for the tip, it works beautifully :).Version: 6.0

Excellent app. Missing supportGreat app, three things missing 1- Reach support team (share contact please) 2- Change the User Interface Text Size 3- Lookup songs metadata and retrieve missing info and album cover.Version: 5.0

Musicstreamer ReviewI have been using Musicstreamer for that last month or so. Finally, I have found the app I was looking for that does music right. I use mostly high resolution 24 bit files for which the app does an excellent job playing. Although my particular DAC does not show the input resolution, the quality of sound is superior to other apps I have tried. Creating playlist is not something I often do. I usually just pick one album at a time. But the ease of which this app provides this function is hard to overlook, so now I find myself making playlists and selecting a variety of sorts. The app setup is superb. Like magic, it finds the music folder from your network. Amazing! It couldn't be easier. Earlier I made contact with the app designers at Stratospherix as I was experiencing problems staying connected to my server. They were excellent to deal with and promptly provided the answers I needed to sort out problems at my end. A must have app for serious music listeners! Ben.Version: 2.8

Why no folder sort?!I found this searching for an app that; 1) isn’t tied to iTunes, 2) doesn’t collect data, 3) is simple to connect to nas sources. This app checked all these boxes and I use it constantly. The only thing that I didn’t include in my search is the ability to see music sources listed in a folder view. This is important to me because I have a lot of teaching material that I use on a daily basis that have weekly meditation modules that are within sub folders. Without a folder view, I have no way of associating the weekly meditations with the root teaching’s folder. A folder view would be a huge time saver and make this app be perfect for me!.Version: 7.9

At last a practical effective alternative to Home SharingHome Sharing on iOs has always been buggy and very slow to connect for me. Now I can choose tracks on my iPhone quickly. My only real criticism was the interface,I didn’t like the dark mode only but that has been fixed in the latest release. Well done for listening to feedback..Version: 7.6

Excellent music player overallThe app does exactly what I want it to do; stream music (only mp3s) from my NAS to my phone. My only complaint is that the random isn't that random; from a list of over 7000 songs I can hear the same song more than once in less than an hour of play. It'd be nice if the random number generator could be tweaked a bit to be a little more random. Other than that, it's easy to use and works great!.Version: 4.1

F~€£ing FinallyMy music files are stored on a drive shared by OSX server. I’ve been looking for an iOS app that can find and connect to a shared drive and stream files - forever. I’ve also been using Stratospherix’s brilliant File Browser forever. Which does just that but is not a music player. I recall thinking if File Browser can find and stay connected to shared drives, why is it so tough for other apps? Still a good question but it turns out Stratospherix made the perfect solution the whole time. This is one case when I wish an app had advertised related products. Music Streamer connects to all kinds of shared drives effortlessly and does a beautiful job of indexing all types of audio files. On top of all that it is one of the nicest audio players I’ve used. Now we can leave the ipad laying around and folks can browse and que up music which is cast to an airport receiver to play music through our stereo..Version: 5.2

Fine job! This is just what I wanted. Not as intuitive as I would like for my wife but she’ll get it soon..Version: 6.8

The best app for music streamingAfter looking at many similar apps for music streaming I have found MusicStreamer to be not only the most comprehensive but also the easiest to set up and use. More than worth the one off charge. Another excellent app from this company..Version: 6.5

Very good streamerFunctionality is basic but it does what I want very efficiently. It has indexed all my thousands of music files by album and artist from my basic Western Digital NAS onto the app interface. I can stream using my iPhone the music to my WiiM devices. Nice! Very Nice! Thanks to the developers this is a simple interface which is easy to use..Version: 7.9

Needs a little workWhen I add the network location, it adds it as album. No good. Also the filters which are based on iTunes genres or id3 genres tags don't work, they just highlight certain songs that belong to the filter..Version: 6.5

Love this free app for local streamingI’m unable to use the file app to connect to the share on the network, but MS has no problem..Version: 7.9

Cracker App!This is a great local library streaming app. Excellent interface and very quick response to search and play over network. Best streaming app out there hands down..Version: 2.8

Excellent SupportHad an issue and received first class support - App seems to do just what I need and I’m very pleased with it - 50,000 files took a while so be patient !.Version: 6.5

Drains battery very quicklyInitial review: Very nice app from a functionality point of view, but my iPhone SE battery is emptied in minutes while streaming FLAC, so unusable. Updated: the next update fixed the battery drain problem, so four stars for a useful app. Would get five stars if it had a “composer” filter. Lack of this limits ease of use if you have a big classical collection..Version: 6.3

Would be really great if supported UPnP and DNLA streamingApp works great but would really be something if it supported network streaming via DNLA/UPnP directly to my network attached stereo. Bluetooth is not nearly as good for lossless files like FLAC. Bluetooth speakers don’t perform any where near as well as my wired stereo towers. Maybe in a next revision?.Version: 7.4

Best streamer of your musicI find this the best app on the iPad for streaming your music collection over your network from a NAS or computer. The one thing that I would like to see that would be an improvement is the ability to minimize or collapse the playlist or que panel to give more space to display the album covers..Version: 6.8

Thanks for picking up the ball Apple droppedITunes gets more useless with every update. When they decided to remove all my older cd ripped music whenever I back up my phone I put ALL my library on my time capsule and installed this app. Already love your filebrowser for video. Now use this to listen to music..Version: 5.0

Works very well, especially with ios<10I use this app to stream music from my NAS remotely through VPN and it works very well. Or at least it used to until iOS 10. I think Apple increased the buffering size in its player (which is used by the app) and as a result the tracks take a long time to start. If you are playing a playlist, it's fine, unless you decide to skip a track. If you are streaming locally, then the lag isn't that noticeable. Fortunately my iPad is still on iOS 8 so I don't have this problem. Hence the five star rating!!!.Version: 4.2

Almost thereNow the battery drain issue has gone away this app is almost perfect. I say almost as it does a couple of things that can be frustrating. This may be because I am pushing it a bit but it copes most of the time. The issue is when I connect to my NAS to play music and cast to my Chromecast Audio. The connection to the NAS can sometimes be very slow to start and if I am already casting it sometimes never starts. I have to stop casting, start playing the music and then cast! A little frustrating. I am sure the bug will be fixed very soon. Best app by far for this so far, and I have tried a few..Version: 6.3

Works great! It took several minutes to scan my music folder on a network attached storage drive on my network. After that, I can access all of my music anywhere in my house. I use an old iPhone to plug into a 1960 Dynaco tube amp setup. It sounds wonderful! Update: Still going strong! It sees my NAS drive plugged into a network switch, a 4TB USB3 drive plugged into a router, a USB thumb drive plugged into the same router, and all my shared drives on PCs scattered about the house. Using various iPhones and iPads all over the house and yard..Version: 4.2

The Music App I Would DevelopI’ve been using MusicStreamer for several years now, and I’m amazed how well it has met my needs. It’s configurable, but without introducing a learning curve. Plenty of times, I’ve thought “if I’d written this myself, I’d make it do X,” and it turns out the app does indeed do exactly that. Huge fan, no notes, 10/5 stars. Platform: iPhone, music on NFS share from TrueNAS.Version: 7.8

A great AppI stumbled upon this App and it is so much better than the QNAP QMusic App. Definitely Recommend it. The best part is that the gaps between the CD tracks are the same as if you were playing the CD. No lengthy gaps like the Native QNAP app..Version: 4.2

The best app for streaming FLAC files from a NAS drive! After a long search to find an app to play my FLAC music, this app is the only one that completely fits the bill. I like that it follows your own file structure so your music is exactly where you would expect to see it. Just a couple of minor improvements that I’d like to see. Track times would be nice - at the moment only the currently playing track gives time elapsed and remaining. Track times in the listings would be more useful than the file size as is currently shown, or maybe the ability to switch. Also, multi disc albums that sit within one folder currently show as individual discs rather than one item as they do in iTunes. I guess that’s because it drills into the bottom level folder. However, if it means maintaining the folder structure, It’s an issue I can live with. Overall, a really good app that I would definitely recommend..Version: 4.2

Great update!Long-overdue update brings multiple improvements to what has always been a rock-solid streamer. Some of the major streaming services could look to these guys for tips! However 2 minor improvements 1) Clicking the search icon should bring up the keyboard for entry - you shouldn’t have to then go to the search box for this to happen, an unnecessary extra step. 2) Playing offline albums is funky and for some reason takes pressing the play icon multiple times before anything happens. Otherwise a rock-solid update congrats to the team behind it..Version: 6.0

Best player I have foundThis is one of the few streaming players (that I have found) that will find and play songs located in sub-folders. The interface is quite basic but it works well. I have several thousand songs stored in many levels of sub-folders on a network drive. This app found all of them quickly and easily. It would be nice it the “back” arrow on the player would allow you to go back to previous songs rather than just restarting the currently playing song. Perhaps a future update? Other than that and the very plain user interface, this app works perfectly for my needs..Version: 5.0

Amazing Music PlayerIf you have all your big music library stored in an external HD this player is a must to have! At the moment this is the only music player I use with my iPhone and iPad. Recommended!.Version: 2.5

Almost there....I've spent a great deal of time looking for an ios audio player that will let me access my lossless music collection from anywhere. Music streamer is soooooo close to being it. Love the ability to stream flac files without having to download the entire flac file first. I also really like the fast library management functions. It sucked in my 6000+ collection in short order. The playlist management features are also quick and convenient. The improvements I'd like to see? Native support for cloud storage like drop box as a source without having to go through a pc/mac first. Also, unless I missed it, a master library that spans multiple sources so you can have playlists that span multi sources. Also integrate cloud music services like spotify and soundcloud so playlists can span them too. Outside of that, some prettier UX options. Looking forward to these upgrades 😊.Version: 3.0

Love the product and supportI once had the issue and the support team help me out immediately. Now I can again enjoy the best music player for NAS!.Version: 7.1

Music streamerGreat app perfect as a music player for the home.Version: 5.0

Great app. Here's a tipHow about this! I attached a HDD to my AirPort Extreme and copied to It most of my 8,000 plus library of songs. Then I used this app on my iPhone and iPad to access my music anywhere in the house on any iDevice. It's using WiFi so the range is much larger than Bluetooth. Periodically I sync my music on iTunes to the Airport Extreme's HDD to keep it up to date. A fabulous solution.Version: 2.9

Still works with generation 2 iPad (July 2021)It just works. Setup info could be fleshed out a bit more. A FAQ and setup troubleshooting info section would be helpful. Having said all that I found it fast and relatively intuitive to use. I’m now running about 2000 albums off a 256gb flash drive plugged into router for home network. Took me a wile to figure out I had to allow guest access to router usb (Samba) on an Asus router via Asus’ router management application. Ymmv..Version: 6.4

A nicely executed appI’ve waited a long time for a decent LAN music playing app and this one has hit the mark! That alpha scroll on the right hand scroll bar is simply excellent. Thank you..Version: 5.0

The music player app you have been waiting forIf you, like I have, been compiling a disk full of music for a decades and want something that plays on all your devices has easy download for offline and easy album art update, and web search right from the app and doesn’t cost a bunch. Media streamer is perfect. Haven’t enjoyed a music app this much since Winamp! Also it will discover 20k files pretty quickly and did a great job of that. I highly recommend apps from this developer because the actually answer support requests!.Version: 6.8

As it says…It does what it says we’ll Could we have an Apple Watch version too please.Version: 6.8

Great App but...Almost perfect, especially now that I’ve found the audiobus setting to play certain file types. I can listen to all my music in native cd (flac) quality without filling my iPhone memory to the limit so long as I’m on my own network of course. Only niggle is that it plays albums in track alphabetical order. I like to listen to albums in the order intended by the artist. Please use the metadata to set the play order appropriately!!.Version: 6.2

It’s as good as all the reviews say!I’ve an old seagate go flex home on my network with loads of music in several formats, always been a pain to access and stream from. Took a chance on this after reading all the good reviews and I’m very pleased I did. It found the seagate straight away, connected after a few attempts, catalogued the library in no time and I’m away. No fuss, no bother, no waiting it just does what it says on the box..Version: 5.0

Just about perfectIt not often you find and app which exceeds so completely in its designed purpose as MusicStreamer does. It has performed faultlessly for me (unlike my Apple TV) with no odd issues or drop-outs during playback - streaming Apple lossless files from my NAS to my iPhone and iPad, linked to external speakers. Interface is great and looks good as well. Highly recommend..Version: 5.0

Worth every pennyI like this app a lot. It's streamlined, giving just what's needed without sacrificing on features. I got it so that I can use the cd's I've already purchased and ripped. Just can't fathom paying for a streaming service like Deezer until those commercial streaming services are tested out and prices come down. (if ever at all).Version: 2.6

It’s working againSolved the problem, I think. The Sony Personal Wireless Server seemed to not be connecting due to the media type I placed in the server. I am using a 16GB Patriot USB flash drive and that seems to work with the server allowing a connection to be made by MusicStreamer. Other brands didn’t seem to work with the Sony PWS such as PNY and all were formatted in FAT32 except one which was NTFS, and it seems USB 3.0 not friendly with the Sony PWS. Bottom line: the app MusicStreamer does work with the Sony PWS and you get all the enjoyment of playing songs randomly!.Version: 6.2

The Best Streaming App!Great album and track data listing, quick connection, GAPLESS PLAYBACK and high quality.Version: 2.9

Works great but no CarPlay support?Fast and functions as intended, but no CarPlay? It almost a dealbreaker for me, but I’m hoping it’s happening in the next update. And the font is too small. All in all, it works wonderfully playing music from my local network. Only needing to CarPlay....Version: 5.5

Finally !Brilliant app that faultlessly plays my CD collection (ripped to FLAC & stored on a thumb drive on my wireless router). Have tried multiple iOS DLNS/uPNP streamer apps and this is the only one that works faultlessly - on both my iPhone and iPad. It reads tags accurately, displays album art and sounds great. Delighted. A YEAR LATER It's now over a year since getting this app and still discovering great new features. Just superb..Version: 6.8

Exactly what I needed! After downloading app after app I couldn't find something that I could use to stream my backups from my Ravpower, and have all the track info and album art included. This app is intuitive enough to automate it for you. Aside from that I never thought creating a playlist could be so instant. This software is smart, and it looks awesome. Great app guys!.Version: 2.8

Best music streamer I’ve foundBeen looking for a while for a streamer that works with my Drobo across multiple platforms. Well, this is it, fantastic! Does have a few quirks like creating a duplicate now and then, but hey, that’s not a problem..Version: 6.2

All great nowThis app excellent when working loses contact with my latest google chrome audio - funnily enough FILEMANAGER by the same organisation connects every time - please sort out an update - I can send screenshots if required I have bought the full version it is disappointing to still have to use FileBrowser to cast audio R Maher.Version: 5.6

99% PerfectNeeded a music player app that can store FLAC outside of iTunes on iPhone. Tried a lot of them and came across Musicstreamer after reading a mention of it on some audiophile forum. This meets my needs. Only thing I can’t find is a way to see the playing track file type and bitrate..Version: 6.1

For me: It’s Like iTunes Without the Fluff and FussA nice straightener interface that deals easily with the music I’ve moved onto my NAS. It queues and plays well, and changes/adjustments are intuitive. No “extra”stuff in the way, and the interface is consistent between my iPhone and my iPad. Supports multiple libraries in different storage locations so my wife and I can see and play each other’s tracks without having to duplicate them redundantly..Version: 6.1

Please Make the Play Queue an OptionThe app is amazing, but I'd prefer not to have everything I play (even songs I'm playing via a playlist) auto added to a queue. This makes no sense to me. There's already a Play History list, so this just confuses me. I may be simple-minded, and just don't get it, so why not make "Enable the Play Queue" an option?.Version: 7.5

WowGreatest music apps to use with your own library!.Version: 5.6

Clever Music Streaming AppMy review is similar to others - I am so glad I found this. I have been using the app for only a few days, but I’m so impressed. Well thought through, uncluttered UI, useful quick start, and finds and connects to music library locations on home network including servers and USBs. Good error trapping and it’s fast to index. You can cast to appropriate renderers (Linn, Mede8er, Google Audio, for me). My libraries are mostly flac files (>150,000) but there are some mp3s and proprietary formats scattered around and none has presented a problem thus far. In terms of connectivity, this app reminds me of the Goodreader PDF manager. I can now tidy up and delete all the apps that promised much but don’t work one way or another. Thank you so much, Stratospherix!.Version: 5.0

Near perfectI had been looking for years to find a player for my networked music, but one that had the database reside on my phone: this works perfect and far passes my expectations. Initial scan (of a very large collection) just took minutes, secondary scan finished later in the day. I find the iPad GUI a little nicer than the iphones, but both are beautiful. Some actions seem a little clumsy, like erasing current playlist, but must work well and are neatly presented. Download (for offline play) is very efficient. Never crashes. Original setup of network far better than other apps I’ve tried. Worked very good at demonstrating how messy my genres were, so I did the manual re-tagging (whew) and then rescanned. Only little complaint, on my set-up, it takes 20-25 seconds for music to start on first start of a session. After that, though, all selections and skips are immediate. One of my favorite apps!.Version: 5.6

There's no app like it...This app allows you to connect/stream from a NAS to your ipad, and play almost any file including FLAC! The simplicity of making playlists is just pleasant. Driving mode and search is great! I installed an airport extreme with hard drive in my camper van for a trip to California and had to research steadily for an app that can not only stream, but also play flac files. Believe it or not, this app is possibly the only one that can do this, a huge thanks to the "Music Streamer" team!.Version: 4.1
