Lifeline 2 for Negative User Reviews

BoringNot as good as the first one. The choices don't realy matters and there is no exploration. The end is realy bad and without any surprise, thrill or fun....Version: 1.4

BoringI really liked the first one, this one was just really boring. Didn't care about the characters our story at all..Version: 1.4

I diedRight away it wasn't fun and now what happens? Nothing. Meh I like the first one better..Version: 1.4

Currently broken on Apple WatchPlayed the original lifeline years back and was very excited to play the second one on Apple Watch, but the app crashes whenever you try to input your name, making it impossible to progress..Version: 1.4

Generic fantasy setting and annoying main characterLook, I saw the description of this app and was a bit skeptical of this magical setting since I was hoping it would be 'spacey' (such great terms) like the first one but decided to get it anyway. Lemme just say that it was... a waste of $.99 I'm gonna start off by saying that the main character Arika both annoys and bores me. She complains too much and her constant quips get boring after five minutes. I could not get a good connection with her as I had with Taylor, and her explanations of things as they pop up just take me out of it. The story is also very generic and tiresome, with repetitive dialogue and a droning plot. I couldn't even finish it, the game just frustrated me so much. Ha I might have gotten more worth out of this by just spending that $.99 on getting rid of ads in a different silly game.Version: 1.4

Not as good as the originalI loved lifeline and just finished white out. Which I also enjoyed very much. But this game has so far repeated the exact same sequence of text (when she gets snarky about walking) and then she does what she wants anyway. Then disappears for 10 hours, which she also does when sleeping. It's making the game drag out and making me lose interest. Very disappointed, I always expect the sequel to be better but this is not the case with lifeline 2.Version: 1.4

Won't openIt consistently crashes on my watch, I've never even gotten to a title screen..Version: 1.4

A bit disappointingI loved lifeline and Silent Night. So was looking forward to this game. Strangely it wasn't quite as believable as the original lifeline, I think it was the 'Akira is walking' style messages that made it less realistic. I loved the tie in to the previous storylines ( very nice). I didn't like Akira's character as much as Taylor's....but as it was written by the same person, it was great how you believe it's not the same character. I did love that the start was longer (but still not long enough!). My main problems were the ending - after so much work building up, it was over with little interaction and faster than it took to even fine and Hotwire the Nissan Quest! And the fact that Akira often didn't listen. Okay that may be realistic for a teenaged girl, but for game play it was annoying to choose an answer and then get ignored, or to rewind and find neither answer made any difference at all. Over all a good game, but room for improvement (plus bring back Taylor!).Version: 1.4

Ho humTook me several attempts to get in to this Lifeline. I enjoyed the first one more, I found this one had too much irrelevant dialogue to the story and it bored me after a while. I left the game for weeks at a time and really had to get over the beginning for it to become more interesting..Version: 1.4

What the plot?[SPOILER WARNING] Read under your own discretion. . . . So when I played the first Lifeline app with Taylor, I actually felt as though his life was meaningful and his goals to stop the Greens were heroic and thought provoking. When I played this game, I felt nothing for Arika and the plot was thrown at me without remorse. The concept was interesting at best and I loved the fact that magic was involved, I just didn't like the fact that whole story was holding your hand while you were involved in getting three items and fighting the bad guys, the Greens. THE GREENS. The greens was the idea for Taylors plot, not this one. It felt like they wanted to make it connect to the previous game when it just made me feel disappointed instead. The plot was mediocre, as I felt like the bad guys should not have been the aliens from the first game but a different thing altogether. I thought that this concept would be excellent if it was not in modern times but during some medieval fantasy era. Arika didn't make me feel sympathetic for her and her sarcastic attitude felt abnormal and was an extreme version of Taylor's personality. It wasn't the best but it was still slightly enjoyable in the least..Version: 1.4

Not taylor, but originalMagical, Delightful, (I thought) But not for everyone's taste if you really fell in love with Taylor's character. Edit: after playing a lot, I retracted two stars since she is always sarcastic, cranky, does puns that aren't funny, metaphors that are cheesy. In all she behaves like a cry baby when you don't say what she wants to hear. She is totally getting on my nerves..Version: 1.4

Sequel much weaker than the first versionI enjoyed lifeline. The long delays while things happened helped make it more real, the story was believable and the game wasn't too hard. Lifeline 2 doesn't do it for me. Why would someone keep chatting after the magic equivalent of a wrong number? I had trouble getting Arika as a person, and it felt like the fatal mistakes were almost chosen at random..Version: 1.4

Feels very familiarI throughly enjoyed Lifeline, despite having my quibbles, like most, with the story and the character. But by the end of it all I really felt connected to Taylor, and really felt invested in his survival. When I first started off with lifeline 2, I went into hoping for the same. That however, was obviously a mistake on my part. I could go on with quibbles about the character, the authors try's at humour, the oddities in the story, but really not of that matters because the story itself is nothing more than a retailing of the original lifeline story. It's not exactly the same, but halfway through, it becomes painfully obvious, the near identical events and subsequent choices at your hand. It quickly starts to feel very familiar, both in storyline and it character. The author really shows an inability to develop different unique characters and that's very disappointing. I didn't feel like I wasted my money with lifeline or with lifeline: silent night. But with lifeline 2, I wish I could get my money back. I couldn't even make it to the end, I just felt too much like I was playing the same story, and I just ended up deleting it. If you really like these sort of adventures I'm sure you'd be willing to play it till the end, but I was disappointed to say the least, and would be very unlikely to purchase any future titles written by the same author..Version: 1.4

LifelessThis version isn't anywhere near as good as the original lifeline. Arika is still making pop culture references that Taylor used to and it doesn't go! There isn't much of a personality change between the characters, as well as how you and the character are communicating is also a bit iffy!.Version: 1.4

Boring jumbo jumboGame was too easy and boring . Thank god for fast mode . Magic really ? Let's have a spy one next.Version: 1.4

Keeps crashingA really good game, but it just started crashing whenever I try to open it so bow I can't play. Please fix it.Version: 1.0

Longer story (good) but still not my faveI've played all the Lifeline games, and this is by far my least favorite. Pros: -Longer storyline (so you can play the game for longer) -Strong female lead character -Story focuses uniquely around magic/mages vs. the standard alien/sci-fi vibe of the other Lifeline games Cons: -Unfortunately, much of the longer story is made up of wordy, excessive chatter/banter that has nothing to do with the actual story (a little bit of it is great, but this is way too much) -This is especially problematic because the story-specific content that IS there is really unhelpful. Really hard to make out the point of what is happening and why it is relevant. -No substantial consequences to anything I did in the game, which completely took all the fun out of it Overall: When playing the other Lifeline games, I was always waiting with excitement to get the next response from the lead character, and when I reached the end of each story, I loved rewinding back and making different decisions along the way to see where it could take me. When I (finally) reached the end of this one, I was just happy it was over..Version: 1.4

Mr.I really like the concept of these games. The main problem I have with them however, is that the characters you are helping are so incredibly whiny and self-loathing. The language they are written in is almost like a teenager has written these characters. Therefore, I really can't empathise with them. This was true of lifeline, but is especially true of this game. In fact I have given up playing this game because the character annoys me so much. I love the execution, the writing just needs to be better..Version: 1.4

A good concept, but buggyI was enjoying the story. But this morning when I tried to launch the app to see how Arika was doing the app would not fully launch. I would get the title screen for about a minute, and then it would vanish. Tried to launch over and over, reset my iPad, Double pressing the home button showed the app as open, so I would swipe it closed, tried again. Double tapped, tried to enter the app using it to try and enter the apparent "open app", Still the same. Went to the app support, followed their trouble shooting guide, still the same vanishing act. In the end, I've deleted the app, and will reinstall to see if it will work. I'm not too happy at the thought of having to do the story I have already completed but if it works, I guess it will be worth it... Update: now I cannot get it to reinstall..Version: 1.1

Too much informationI loved the first game but this one has a lot of waffle that just isn't anywhere near realistic speech (I know it's a game!) but it's way too much and is not adding to the game play, rather it's annoying....Version: 1.4

So boringNeed more options than 2 as very boring.Version: 1.4

Not NEARLY as good as the othersI've played a couple other versions from the Lifeline series and I was really excited to try another, but this one just felt like it wasn't even close to the standard of the others. In the original and by far the best, someone is stranded out in space and the only person their communicator is able to reach is you. But in this, Arika simply reached the wrong person she was trying to contact, but she's not stranded all alone, she's just wandering around Oregon with many people around, she doesn't actually need you, and she very often doesn't even listen to what you say and gets very rude at some points. It just doesn't work. The others in the series are absolutely amazing, but this one was just a let down. I'd recommend you save your money on this one, but definitely try one of the other Lifeline games, especially the first.Version: 1.4

Boring, not engaging.Loved the first one, but this was rubbish by comparison - story dull as dishwater, and couldn't care less about the main character..Version: 1.4

L I F E L E S SSadly, unlike its predecessor, 'Lifeline 2' just doesn't gel. There is nothing here that makes you care about its main protagonist Arika, and a number of your decisions seem to diminish the real sense of player agency the previous game had (which I gave a glowing full star review) with at least one choice early in the game being made utterly mute by the character ignoring it and doing what she wanted anyway. This follow-up isn't anywhere near as good as what came before it and more than anything else, it feels rushed. It saddens me to say it, but I was relieved when my play-through ended as the more I interacted with it the more I felt it diminished what I had experienced previously. I am hoping 'Silent Night' will hit the mark where this fell so woefully short..Version: 1.4

Okay like the othersLike the other lifeline games, this is okay, but not liking the setting or the character. Thought it would be a medieval fantasy only to have it end up in modern times. Arika was a major let down too. Not sure if she's worse then Taylor, but acts about the same. Also not happy with the first major choices. Use "dark arts" magic and get to the destination or steal a car or walk. I chose walk. Arika got really whiny about it. Told to keep walking thinking it was safer and she kept complaining until I finally used the "dark arts" magic she was so hesitant to use, and behold! After the incident at the shop I get to make the same decision again complete with, after hot wiring the van, a comment about hoping there is enough gas to get to the shop, which we just left.Version: 1.4

BienJ'ai mieu aimé le premier et douce nuit, selui la je me perd dans l'histoire. J'aimais vraiment mieu dans l'espace sur d'autre planète. Ses un très bonne série, continuer comme sa!😉.Version: 1.4

DisappointingLoved the first Lifeline but didn't like this. In the first one the astronaut concept worked really well. This is some unspecified magic mumbo jumbo and the main character is boring..Version: 1.4

Can't love a broken gameI want to love this game. Even though it is fairly predictable in its choices and outcomes, the storyline is enjoyable. The problem is that I am stuck in an infinite loop at the monastery. Once I arrive at the slype it doesn't matter which direction I choose to turn because the monk appears and sends the character back to the part where she says, "This is unsettling." If the game did this intentionally a few times and then provided the option to tell the character that she was in an infinite loop, I would find this fairly clever. Yet, seeing as I have gone through this sequence half a dozen or more times, my patience is wearing thin. Therefore, I must unfortunately discourage users from purchasing this app. If the the glitch is fixed, I would give this app 4-5 stars easily..Version: 1.4

Good gameVery slow to start with, but picks up around the middle. The ending could be a bit more worthwhile but I still recommend this to people who like interactive stories..Version: 1.4

A short story, not a gameFirst of all, it's 100% related to the first one. It's related, but different, and clearly part of a building story (because this has a lot of plot holes). I really enjoyed Lifeline, but Lifeline 2 has been disappointing. I've finished multiple times choosing different paths—choosing the most virtuous path and choosing the most dark path and somewhere in between. The ending is exactly the same (assuming you stay alive). I killed people and saved people and it didn't matter at all. The most frustrating thing is that the end fight is over so quickly I literally had no idea it had started. It was like, here I am, I do this thing to get started and—oh, what? It's over. I won. Ok? Next? Oh now it's all over. Ok, bye I guess. The story is somewhat interesting, but the character is rather annoying. Constant bad jokes and pop culture references from the 80's/90's just make it difficult to get into and makes the character feel like a middle-aged man instead of a youngish girl. (A teenager that mentions Perfect Strangers?) I love the possibilities of this genre and I'd love to see something done with more branching and tech trees where the character evolves uniquely (Diablo: the Choose Your Own Adventure?) but this is clearly a set story with one outcome in mind..Version: 1.4

Arika is dreadfulFor me, the whole point of playing Lifeline is to interact with a friendly adventurer who appreciates my input and gladly shares their experiences with me. I felt a genuine bond with Taylor and V. Adams. I admired them and wanted to protect them. Communications with Arika, in contrast, feel like a dysfunctional relationship with a stereotypical mother-in-law: endless complaints and criticisms..Version: 1.4

Awesome game, but....I love this game. It's so amazing - wonderfully designed. However, there is a huge glitch when Arika is in the chapel. After she figures out she's been giving in circles and gets ready to make the next deduction, the writing stops. There's no boxes to choose, nothing. By the looks of it, body else has experienced tins, but I would REALLY like it fixed, as I can't continue with the game unless something changes. Please fix the glitch! Otherwise, great game 10/10 would recommend (with no glitch).Version: 1.4

Unlinked from progress made on Apple WatchStory reset. Very frustrating.Version: 1.4

Not as good as Lifeline one and LIfeline silent nightYeah, the story was tooo long and boring, did not finish it. Don't feel like I care for Akira's life..Version: 1.4

Not as good as the previous onesMore of the same good things: a character to help, some impending doom to solve. However... the situation does not feel like a lifeline to a desperate character stranded by themselves, it’s more text messaging a friend that is in trouble. I couldn’t really get interested in the plot (and I don’t mind the magic etc). ...the story is long-winded and the character verbose, with only a few of the responses being meaningful choices that make a difference, most are of the “what happened?” or “don’t worry” kind. ...the pauses between game sections are too long. The character goes to sleep at the end of a day - and you literally can’t play till the next morning, even if she went to sleep at lunchtime. ...and the font is too small and finicky (on regular size iPhone).Version: 1.4

Love this type of game, meh story... But I'd buy againIt's good game. Story is much less convincing though. I don't really establishing enough rapport with Arika. SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!! I like the reference to the first game, green aliens. But really? How the heck did I survive time traveling monks who literally can kill you anytime? Supernatural zombie demon kid who welcome you back with telekinetic power? Burned a living forest with a lantern without being injured at all? It seems too far fetched as plot goes especially in the end I still don't know what she's capable of... Still feels like a stranger. Finally, the traveling options are bit weird... Not sure how to better it tho..Version: 1.4

I’d like to play but..It crashes every time I try to put my name in on watch. This series is amazing, but this is very frustrating..Version: 1.4

Like many sequels, this one falls flatI have been downloading apps since day 1 and this is the first one I have ever taken the time to review. It was that bad... Not terrible, but a huge disappointment after the first two. It wasn't that the story was different... I liked the story, but the writing this time around seemed hurried and the sequences were supper choppy. There wasn't enough time given to build a connection with a stranger... She shows too much gratitude way too soon when all you really do in this version is click the "what happened now?" button. The character is fun, and witty, with a metric ton of pop culture reference dripping from every crack in every sentence of dialogue - and there were many ('cracks' that is) - but the vast majority of the references were out of place for this homeless, teenage orphan. And the quests! They seem pretty arbitrary overall. You don't know why she needs the things, she just does. So you end up being the lost puppy dog following her around saying 'you can do it... whatever 'it' is...' and helping her make completely useless decisions like 'should I walk, or use magic?' - Duh! Use your magic! It feels like these decision points were put in completely arbitrarily (and don't get me started on the whole right/left decision tree in the monastery... I don't even want to think about that one. Ever. Again. The whole experience was just odd. Good enough to keep me going through to the end, but bad enough to have me questioning why almost the entire way! All I really wanted by the end was a little closure; not for Arika, that's pretty much a given, but for me. What is the point of the greens? Why is magic an illusion? Why did they take over the town? What was it doing for the years Arika was growing up? Is it connected with the first story's body snatchers? Etc, etc, etc... Unfortunately, you don't get any answers. Not one. The whole thing feels like a quickly slapped together followup - and I wish I could get my money back for it. Great concept, bad follow through! The soundtrack was well done but I can't say that about anything else in this app. Skip this and go buy the first two installments... They are shorter, but balance the story, character, suspense and decision making so much better!.Version: 1.4

Really interestingI don't know what I expected playing this game, but the fact that it was just all a written quest was lost on me, I found the story interesting but it lacked the anticipation I craved, I had to rewind the story path only once, I wouldn't look at getting the first game or any there after, sorry, just wasn't my thing I guess.Version: 1.4

Not quite as good as the firstThe narrative and more linear, like most of your choices make no difference. I find the protagonist quite inconsistent about when she feels magic is justified or not..Version: 1.4

Watch App doesn't stay in syncThe game is basically unplayable because the watch app will not stay in sync with the phone app. I've read the beginning so many times now that I have no interest in proceeding as I am afraid it will reset again..Version: 1.4

Too many dumb jokesThe first lifeline game was good in a sense that it felt very serious and eerie, and you felt like you were literally on an alien planet with Taylor. However in this game there are too many corny jokes that have no place in the game and make it feel like a chore to get through. At first I thought you couldn't even die in this game, because it didn't seem that serious, but apparently you can if you make the wrong decisions, which is good. There are also multiple endings and you don't have to start from the beginning if you die, which is a good thing. I hope the next game has less lame jokes or else I am not buying it..Version: 1.4
