Eight-Minute Empire for Positive User Reviews

Fast & goodWhile many civilization building games are marathons, this one is more like a 100 yard dash. You play cards to gain resources, which you have to balance, and choose actions from city building, raising troops, moving your troops, naval movement, destroying enemies, etc. the objective is to control regions of the board and preferably continents which you do by gaining a majority. You have a limited number of turns and curren$y to work with, and often the game is over before you know it, generally 10 minutes or so. These limitations make a quick play, but they also mean that each movie has to be thought about pretty carefully, because you don’t have time to waste. Well done!.Version: 1.2.9

Great game, kills batteryThe game is really fun and well done. I just wish it didn't drain my battery so much. It is such a problem that I can't play as much as I'd like..Version: 1.1.0

AWESOME GAME !!!2017 board game of king !!! 👍.Version: 1.0.3

Great GameThe game is solid, but the rules are somewhat lacking. I couldn't find what triggered the end of the game. The additional maps are also a bit expensive at $1.99 a piece. These really should be clustered as a map pack for a lower price. While I am thoroughly enjoying the game, I don't see any reason to expand upon the game at the prices currently available. I shall continue to enjoy the base game pack..Version: 1.0.1

One of my go to’sThis is easily in my top 3 favorite games. Only issue I have it that it crashes between games..Version: 1.2.3

Fantastic appThis game is a truly outstanding app! It provides a true port from the board game and is easy to enjoy in quick sessions. I really feel it is top notch. Additionally, the developers are very responsive and fix bugs within days..Version: 1.0.3

Fun for what it isIt's a well done little conquest game done with cards. It's limited but there's real skill involved in winning which I like. It's also quick, for those times you want a lighter games..Version: 1.1.2

Nice quick gameThis is a fun, quick game. Make sure to turn off the high speed frames per second, it absolutely eats battery and I cannot see a difference. Text is usually too tiny, especially on my SE. Some of the button placement could be more convenient, and stronger indicators for when your movement is complete would be nice. E.g. Move the end turn button to the upper right where it's easier to press, and next to the indicator for remaining moves (which I didn't even notice for a while). Also make it bigger, why are the buttons so tiny? In general it seems like there is dead space on screen so I wish it could be used more efficiently. I'd have to think about how to make that happen though..Version: 1.0.3

Map pack issuesGood game! 5 stars. However... Prior to their map pack bundle, I purchased two of the four maps at full price. Now, with the bundle, I am not able to "complete the bundle" for the last two maps at the discounted price. I need to purchase them at full price..Version: 1.0.3

CrashesJust got the new map pack and it causes the game to crash..Version: 1.0.2

Love it, Just like board gameI have all the board games. This game is awesome I especially like the multiplayer. Little discombobulated about paying $5 for mountains which has negligible general effect on the game but just consider it a helping fund the developers for making an iOS version..Version: 1.1.0

Never played the physical game, love the app!Great game. Didn't have a clue what I was doing my first game, until the end, and then it all clicks as you see the score. And since games play fast, I found myself playing another. And another. And another. Tight game with just enough substance to make you feel like you nailed it when you win, and want to try again when you lose..Version: 1.0.1

Fun GameThanks for the map bundle purchase option!.Version: 1.0.2

Interesting, well thought out and surprisingly deep.If you're a fan of Settlers of Catan or Risk this will be a good one for you. The app is well designed and runs smoothly. My only gripe is that I paid 4.99 for the game but it only comes with two maps. There are several to buy for 1.99 each but that seems a bit steep. I think a map bundle of three maps for 2.99 would be more appropriate. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars..Version: 1.0.1

Great gameI’ve only played a few times but this seems like a great game. 8 minutes is a bit aggressive but each game is definitely short. Looking forward to playing multiplayer..Version: 1.1.1

Fun short gameThis is a fun short game. Easy to understand, not too deep..Version: 1.0.3

Multiplayer could use some enhancement.Fun game but in multiplayer none of us get any turn notifications (asynchronous games) and you don't get any indication something was added to the room message board. Not showstoppers but definitely irritants to an otherwise fun experience..Version: 1.1.0

Great for busy peopleI like civilization games but my schedule doesn’t allow for long gaming sessions. This game is perfect for people like me who like the genre but only have time for shorter games. I’m so glad to have stumbled upon this one! This is very well designed and user friendly. The rule book is a fast and clear read, and between that and a tutorial game you’re good to go. The AI seems balanced to me and I’m enjoying playing against it. Even though the games are brief the strategy is deep enough to keep it interesting without being overbearing. The perfect balance for a sort-of casual gamer like me. I’m glad the game board allows for easy zooming, because even on a large phone the map and icons are small. But the zoom function here is well done and very helpful for people like me who wear glasses. I find the pricing fair for a game of this quality. I’m glad there are good developers like this one and am happy to support their monetization model. Thank you, developers!.Version: 1.2.3

Pretty Much PerfectCould Acram just take over all digital board game design? The UI is insanely polished. I’ve played the game about a dozen times in 24 hours and I’m ready to take on higher AI difficulty. Edit: one thing I can’t stand about online multiplayer is that you can’t add AI players to a multiplayer game. Seems like this could be done and would make it easier for two people to play online multiplayer but not have to resort to a two player game..Version: 1.3.1

Great version of boardgame.Where is #CatMap?.Version: 1.0.1

Awesome!Great implementation of a great game?.Version: 1.0.0

Good gameI'm enjoying this game. It has almost a "puzzle" feel about it, although there is some interaction between players. For 4.99 you get the base game with two maps, but the "old Europe" map then unlocked after a few games (I don't know what unlocked it, but presumably my first win or something). The base game includes the Goods Tokens option. A further 4 maps are available at 1.99 each, but I haven't felt the need to buy those after 10-15 games. If I do, only a couple of them look different enough to be worth that price. I have purchased the only other IAP available (for 1.99) which is the Mountains expansion. This adds some good concepts to the game which also add variety to the set up. The AI is good. Easy is good to learn by. Medium gives me a tough match, which is usually very close, often coming down to the final turn. I haven't tried Hard yet, but I've read that it is "brutal". Overall a good game that should stay fresh enough to justify the cost. The app itself is flawless, and the online (asynchronous) multiplayer seems to have a reasonable following. Recommended..Version: 1.0.1

A good buyNice game. Short challenging scenarios. A bit of Risk meets a light quick Civ game..Version: 1.0.1
