✓ Good but not excellentThis game could be fun. But the AI is extremely lucky, unbelievably lucky. It lack the ability to choose the strength of the AI, low, medium or hard. It’s very tough to play the AI and if you make a mistake there’s no way to back play. It would be a very nice game if the could fix those problems with the AI on the single play. ✓ IPhone Issues - Black ScreenI love this game. It works fine on my iPad (with minor crashes along the way). That said, on my iPhone 12 Mini is goes to a black screen when I try to launch a game. The menu screens work fine - but everything goes black and cannot enter games. Even after the latest update, it still crashes on every launch. Please fix. Thanks. Checked the new box - it still does not load the game. I would avoid this game if you own an iPhone. Works great on iPad. Update after 15.4. This update causes multiple graphical glitches on my iPad. Black screen, cannot see combat board, dice rolls on top of each other. A total mess. Update: I bought the Steam version thinking I would pivot to Mac while the iOS version is being fixed. Wrong again. Steam version cross-play does not work. Cannot even login with my Apple ID. I simple get an error every time with “access forbidden”. Avoid this game for now. ✓ Okay, but super frustratingSo, the game is okay but has a few very annoying points - It will reload after combat is completed, and re-roll the entire sequence. It only does this for your attacks, never for the computer. It also only does this when the computer has lost. Like, it just quits and straight up cheats and does the combat over. - You will get bad rolls more than the computer does. It happens in waves, even if you’ve stacked fighters on defense - The AI isn’t very smart and will leave itself very vulnerable. It has a lopsided play style, and will ignore entire fronts. Best part of the game is that it enforces rules automatically and won’t take an hour to set up like a board game. But the CPU cheating during combat became so bad I deleted the app. BTW, I have a brand new iPhone…it’s not a memory/bandwidth problem..Version: 1.0.17

✓ I want to rate higher, but I can’t.I really don’t like that I have to be so negative here, I want to rave about how great this is, but I can’t. This game is literally unplayable. Tutorial? Game loads, then freezes on black screen. Single player against computer? Game loads, then freezes on black screen. I’ve tried axis and ally factions, same problem. Only time the game works is in hot seat mode. (I haven’t tried online against other players yet, I’m afraid of eating a slot in someone’s game and just being able to never play my turn due to the above described black screen issue). I know we’ve got Christmas and New Years here, and I understand y’all (the devs) are busy with family and friends, rightfully so, but as soon as the holidays are over, please fix ASAP, I want to rate this game highly, but I just can’t in its current state. Update: I’ve discovered I have 0 issues running the game on my old, 5th gen iPad. The issues I described above persist on my iPhone 13 pro. I followed the recommendation of lowering the performance, and I can at least access all game modes now; however, it’s still a common occurrence to have to force quit the game 3-7 times per PHASE of a turn because it freezes, or goes into a loading cycle that leads no where. ✓ This game feels like a scam.I bought this game on the desktop. It wouldn’t work. The support team never responded, just immediately closed my support request. Someone said it might be my internet service provider. I got a refund, so I tried it on my phone. I have an IPhone 12 Pro Max. I tried on my mobile data, and it seemed to work. I could actually make an account now and get to the main menu. But now whenever I try to do combat in my games I get caught in this loading loop. I can sometimes get to the combat screen, but whenever I press a button to assign hits or anything it just crashes. I’ve never had a worse experience with a development team. I’ve tried very hard to get this game to work and for him it runs fine on PC though when he tries to get it on phone it says it’s not compatible. I’m at a complete loss here..Version: 1.0.17

As soon as you click the option to either retreat, or press on, the game freezes completely. Once this gets patched, it will be great to have axis and allies on the go. - Follow up to the review. I’m playing on an iPad Pro, and I was able to get past the battle freezing by turning off all of the animated graphics settings. ✓ Still terribleI have played this game off and on now via the PC and mobile for like the last year and a 1/2. I stopped playing the PC version last summer after getting to platinum in the league and now I’ll stop playing the mobile for the reason that I’ll explain. I would love to tell you it’s a great version of the game. It does work very smoothly but has one nasty glaring issue that the devs just can’t seem to get correct. It’s plagued with consistent dice roles that defy the odds by such a huge degree that they should NEVER happen let alone see them in almost every game. Example: I just played a game where I attacked Russia with 13 shots at 3 and 2 shots at 1 against 14 shots at 2. The math says this is an easy win for me. But instead I proceed to get a grand total of 3 hits where I’m hitting at like 6% and not the 50% the math says I should be hitting at. On the opposite side the defender hits 7 in the first volley and it only got worst from there. So Instead of hitting at 33% they hit 50% repeatedly. This SHOULD NOT happen with any consistency, but it does over and over. This is just one example of the hundreds I could give you. The dice rolling in this game is 100% not random. It’s whacked and because of it I suggest you avoid this game unless you’re a masochist..Version: 1.0.5

✓ IPad Mini 4 - Don’t Buy (At least for now)Anticipated release, but unfortunately the performance is terrible on the iPad Mini 4. Even with animations turned off. Very laggy, distorted sound and some blurry textures. This may change with a patch, who knows, but at least for now I’d avoid unless you have a newer iPad. ✓ Not ready as of yetI’ve had countless hours on PC of this game and it’s a true recreation of the original 1942 board game, even has Larrys 3.0 rules along with total control and even dice luck if you wanted to edit that. If this was the PC version I would 100% give this a 5 star as well as thumbs up on steam… HOWEVER… the black screen when opening a game or the crashing upon doing anything when the game is up. I changed the settings to use as little resources as possible and the game crashes and I have to force close and relaunch the game. However the bugs were still present which is a massive shame. Once the black screen and crashing has been fixed, will give this a 5 star along with editing this review. ✓ Grew up playing the board gameThey did a great job with the app, it definitely feels as close to the board game as it possibly could but the system does a terrible job randomizing dice in battles. Out of something like 20 battles, I lost probably 90% of them. The computer completely annihilates you in combat no matter how many units you throw at it making it pointless to play. ✓ Hot and rigged but I still love itRecently got this game because I enjoyed playing the board game growing up. This game will routinely make my iPhone 13 excessively hot which also makes it hard to play for any longer than 10 minutes even on the least demanding settings. Additionally, the game will routinely reload the same battle until you start losing because “you can’t do TOO well.” Obviously, these are not issues I come across on the PC version. ✓ Worst app I’ve ever downloadedThe game reloads every minute or less. Each reload takes 15-20 seconds, sometimes longer. Each reload un-does my last move, so I have to re-do my move, sometimes to have the game crash again, and I have to re-re-do the move again. This makes the game incredibly annoying to play. ✓ Great startI feel like this game is still in early release stages. I love this series and own all of the board games. And I was super excited when I found this. I can play one of my favorite games in the go now! Sadly there is still much to be desired. No technology to research, the AI is way to powerful and the dice rolls seem to always favor the AI. I attacked Japan with 8 transports with one armor and one infantry apiece as well as bombarded with 4 battleships and 6 cruisers. I also brought in 4 bombers. And somehow 4 infantry, 2 artillery, and a single armor defended the island…… I lost my whole force and only managed to take out half of their forces. ✓ Can’t use same account as Steam versionI bought this version for my iPad so I can play while mobile. I already have a copy of the game on Steam for my desktop. But after paying for the game I find out you can only sign in using your Apple account, which uses the same email address as my Steam account, so I’m unable to create a ‘new account’. So not only can I not use the same account I’m using on Steam, I can’t even log into the online version of this game. This needs to be fixed. Yet it is missing two core features and costs 50% of the physical board game to buy. 1) No Weapons Development/Indistrial Development roles 2) game is broken, you cannot board allies transports in your combat or non combat phase. Making a flaw in one of the major game dynamics in Europe. ✓ Classic game ruined by biased rollingThe positive: It’s great having an electronic version of the classic board game. I like both the new map layout and the new game pieces. Also, the game is easy enough to play right away if you are familiar with the board game. The negative: It is obvious after a few games played against the AI there is an algorithm at play behind the dice rolling to keep the game close. Battles that should be decisive are skewed to inflict a lot of casualties one way and little the other way that are both unbelievable and inconsistent with probability. An attacking force with 2 fighters which get no hits for 3 rounds while the 3 defending infantry hit multiple times each round? A strategic bombing raid against the AI and its AA gun destroys the attacking bomber while the AI’s bombing raids go an entire game without losing a single bomber? 4 infantry with an artillery gets no hits for 3 rounds? Making it worse is these types of scenarios occur during definitive battles which can decide the game. The other part I don’t like is there are a lot of unnecessary animations/phase change graphics that slow down the game unnecessarily. My advice is don’t waste your money on this game as it will only lead to a lot of frustration..Version: 1.0.17
✓ Worst Cheating AIWish I could give negative stars. Gameplay seems to have been fixed from other reviews so I took a chance. If you start winning and/or have a massive army with overwhelming odds the dice roll starts to hit on ones twos and threes in what seems to be the way the game AI keeps it close…absolutely awful. You can’t make a strategy because you are having to play around the cheating AI dice rolls. I’ve tried playing a few games out to see and it gets gradually worse as the game progresses. Horrible. ✓ Great potential ruined by a few bugsThe battle view is completely unusable the only thing I see properly are the buttons so I just play the game like the battles always auto-resolve to the end, which is not optimal to say the least… There’s also a more minor issue on the map view where it all goes black when trying to move a unit sometimes. I was never able to load into a new game after multiple tries. As previous developer responses pointed out, I selected use minimal resources, with no change. A new game will load then briefly show the map, load again, then show a black screen with no change. ✓ GlitchyI have tried many versions across multiples devices, and there are consistently bugs. The board game is fantastic and if the app works without problems, it’s fun and the turn-based email system is nice. But I can’t really rate this above two when there are so many bugs. At the moment on iPad I can’t even get in the game. It loops indefinitely between the black loading screen and the red bar WW2 background loading screen. ✓ Does not work on my iPhone XI truly enjoyed playing this when it was a board game, but I almost never finished a game. I was looking forward to the Mobile version because I could actually manage to finish games. I read the reviews and still decided to spend the money on the game is hopes that the glitchy service wouldn’t bother me to much and maybe my money could help them fix the bugs. Alas when I started my first game on my iPhone X I got “the black screen of death”. This happened after the game selection options and right when I was about to start the first Russian turn. Screen went black, not shut off just black. no options, no displays, no matter of random finger tapping the only thing I can do is close the program and re start it. Once I load the app and restart the game after the loading… black again… *sigh. Why I gave this a two star and not a one star is because I can still play it on my iPad but I don’t carry that in my pocket. I can not take a turn while I have a spare moment in my day. Hopefully this glitch will be fixed soon and I can give a much better review for what was/is a great game..Version: 1.0.9
✓ Please make your game serviceable.I have tried the “fix” of clicking on the settings -> options -> use less resources that is listed on your website. My phone is an iphone 12 pro with 86.6 gigs available. I have updated the software to ios 15.1. I have paid for this game even after reading all of the previous reviews stating the “bugginess” of the app. I understand that bugs are not fixed overnight, and that this takes time. I am not sure if this is contributing to the issues at hand, but my phone heats up dramatically when I use your app. I worry that this is part/all of the problem as to why the application continues to crash. I too love this game like so many of the other reviewers. Which is why I agreed to pay for the app. I am hoping that my money and other peoples money will go towards making your product work at a basic level. As of right now, I cannot play more than 2 rounds without a crash to a back screen. It is frustrating that such an amazing game cannot be played at a basic level. Not awful, but can get laggy fast if the quality goes too high. I find it annoying the UI switches between a units view and an icon view depending on zoom level as the icons are hard to read. ✓ Huge fan of the board game, but AI rolls are unbelievable!The “lucky rolls” the AI gets all the time are absolutely improbable. I’ve played many, many hundreds of hours of this game using real dice and I have NEVER seen outcomes like this. Add to it I don’t even get to see the battles when the enemy attacks me, I just watch them win every time. Maybe there’s a setting I missed, but either way the outcome would be the same, the AI usually wins pivotal battles - even when they are way outgunned. I had high hopes for this, I used to play a different version on my kindle fire, and the probabilities were much more accurate on that version. I’ll keep it on my iPad, and play it when i need a little self abuse..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Love the game, but it’s unplayable now.I have this game on pc and iPad. I used to love being blue to switch in between. Recent updates have made it unplayable on the iPad. It used to work fine. Graphics during combat work randomly making it impossible to see why is happening or to choose what units are taking hits. I tried the suggestions to minimize graphics. It didn’t help. Screen goes black when trying to select units to move. Dice rolls for industrial bombardment are still very skewed. I take hits at least 1/2 the time I try. I never get hits when the computer bombs me. Sometimes I wonder if anyone even play tests this game. These are obvious problems..Version: 1.0.17
✓ Can’t properly run itI really really didn’t want to give this review as I love the game and when it works, it works well but 90% of the time it doesn’t work. I have to have the performance toggle on in the graphics menu to use minimal resources and the game still doesn’t work. I am on a iPhone 12 Pro Max, so very decent iPhone hardware - I can’t comment on what it may be like on an iPad, maybe a little better as the chips are more like desktop architecture? Just such a shame as I can’t do one entire round with one faction without having an issue. A little strange as at the start of my current game it seemed to run perfectly fine, but now I am on round 2/3 it just gives me a black screen all the time. As such, I have requested a refund from Apple - such a shame, I am sure it will be perfectly fine but I just can’t play it 🙁 wholly recommend the PC version though, that is fantastic, I just wanted the same experience on my phone….Version: 1.0.9

✓ Can Not Use This AppPurchased this game yesterday. After waiting a long time for it to download, opened the game only to be greatly disappointed! Surprised to only see a white background with a button that read “Sign in with Apple”. When my son clicked this button, a pop up box appeared saying, “Cannot Create Account Your Apple ID cannot be used to create accounts for other apps.” The only option was to click “Ok”. ✓ DissatisfiedSo I’m a life long fan of the game/series but I’m tremendously dissatisfied that I bought this to use on my wife’s iPad which it works most of the time…if it does have issues a quick reset has always fixed any issue. But I also purchased on my own account for use on my iPhone 12 and I have yet to play a single turn because it gives me the black screen of death each time.
