✓ RuinedThe original format was far superior. Continuous play, ad free and zero subscription and the challenge for a too spot amongst other players. Now the new version is one free puzzle per day (two including the new one that I can live without) or an over priced subscription. I probably would’ve subscribed to the original version for a fair price I enjoyed it so much. Played every day, oh well time for a fresh app. DELETED..Version: 2.1
✓ BadDreadful game - no idea how they have so many good reviews. ‘Common’ words can be weird and too obscure, gives hints that throws players off…why does the app go out of its way to tell me there could be two of ‘S’ in the word, yet the end word only had 1? What’s the point of the whole ‘this could mean one or more’ thing anyway? That makes it stupidly hard. There have also been instances where it’s given the completely wrong letters in the wrong places, that wouldn’t make sense with the final word. Swiftly deleted..Version: 1.1
✓ Hate the new 2.0 version!!!!Please go back to the old way where you could put letters in their places!!! I don’t mind the new colours and graphics but I only play (or rather, PLAYED, now) this app because I was able to input letters in any box without spelling out a whole word - it helps my very visual brain. ✓ Weird dictionaryNot all of the words are real words. For example, in two of the last three games I got, the words were “yocks” (the definition they gave was “another term for yuck2”) and “teloi”, which is apparently the plural of telos. Yeah. Anyway, the game isn’t fun if the words aren’t ones I’d ever think of. It also doesn’t let you gauge if there are multiples of the same letter. So if I guess “seems,” and the word has only one e and one s, BOTH s’s and e’s will be blue, even though there’s only one of each in the final word. Not sure if this is a bug, or intended, but it makes it harder to guess the word..Version: 1.05

You just aren’t that girl, you were her ugly but funny best friend that people liked talking to for her personality. Except, now you’ve lost your personality too. So not only are you still ugly and irrelevant compared to your bestie Wordle, you are now boring too. Nobody likes ugly and boring. You will lose your besties. Hell, you’ve already lost a bunch. ✓ Often has quite unusual wordsEven with the common words option I’m getting a lot of very uncommon words. Words like “exult” , “ashen” , etc. It’s not that they’re words I’ve never heard of necessarily, but words I’ve never used or seen anyone use. For a “common words” dictionary, it has a lot of uncommon words. The app also glitches a fair amount so the record keeping factor means nothing. It will freeze and let me submit my answer over and over to bring my streak up to 70 words on just one word. Or it will randomly crash and lose my data. It’s fine as a game but definitely could use a fair amount polish.Version: 1.1
✓ Why update?The last update really killed this otherwise good app. It’s a total letdown because it was better in the former version by a mile. Adding a crossword game for no reason? Why? And changing the look/feel of the game - why? And eliminating the ability to move the ‘cursor’ around to enter a letter in any box you want (meaning you have to type the word completely and in ‘order’ and can’t simply stick the letters you know already into their spots and use that as help to consider your other letter options) - why? Deleting this app now unless there’s a update fixing these issues in the next couple of days. Too bad..Version: 2.0

✓ Simple format betterI preferred the simple form it had before but now the app decided to go all nice and “fancy”. Not everyone likes that. Not to overreact but it was an unpleasant surprise. I liked before how I was able to press letters independently instead of backspacing all the time from the back. ✓ Terrible updates and terrible paywallI’ve had this game for about a month and there’s been 2 significant updates each worse than the last, the latest telling me I now need to pay £26 a year to access what I had when I first downloaded the game! The first update took away the option to change letters in any order and the unlimited words, now apparently you have to pay for the privilege which is the only reason I downloaded this in the first place because Wordle doesn’t offer multiple games per day. Second update is now telling me I have to pay for that along with the other game they introduced with last update. Not pleased..Version: 2.1

✓ Meh Wordle imitationMeh Wordle imitation, no stats options, and a bug will tell you that a word has a double letter when it doesn’t. For example, if the correct word is “STARE” and you enter “STEER” the program will tell you that you have two green letters and three blue letters instead of two and two. The developer response doesn’t address this. After you win a game, a pop-up blocks the middle of the board, so you can’t do a screenshot. One solution is AUXIN. Another BISPS, which I got only because “WISPS” was wrong, and I had to try every letter for the missing first letter combination before the game told me I won because I had finally guess a nonexistent word not in the dictionary. I lost a long streak to “BAMPS,” which isn’t in the dictionary. (Plurals are definitely over represented.) I’m about to lose another game to a word that isn’t in the dictionary: I have *I**I but there is no ACDEJLNORSTVY, and even if I cheat with a crossword puzzle solver, it can’t identify any possible words. Clearly no one tested this, but the price is right. Better than the other Wordle knockoff, but I’m guessing someone will do something even better within the next couple of weeks..Version: 1.02

✓ Awesome App Except for the PaywallLove the configuration options and gameplay - actually better than the bubble gum Candy Crush pastel world of the Wordle app. My beef is with the paywall and ridiculous subscription charge. You legit cannot claim you deliver value on this app that warrants that kind of ongoing charge and I would surmise you’ve priced yourself out of a sustained revenue model. I guarantee you won’t be able add any significant improvement that would warrant a subscription model on this either. Also, there is no way to know if there are two of the same letter in a word, as a letter will turn blue if it is in the word, even if you’ve already used it, it doesn’t mean that it is in the word a second time. ✓ One major flaw in this versionWe all know the concept. It’s a good game, executed badly here. The ‘all words’ version should be renamed ‘obscure words only’; but the major flaw is around double lettering. If you try the same letter twice on a word without a double, the app will tell you BOTH are in the wrong place, making you assume there are actually two. If you have the letter in the right place, it will still tell you the second is in the wrong place (it’s referencing the one in the right place). As a result, you cannot trust the feedback, and therefore what is the point?!.Version: 1.1

✓ Not improvedI liked the old version where you didn’t have to start from the first letter each time (you could enter a letter in the middle instead of starting from the beginning each time). The new keyboard is too tiny and I liked the old screen that wasn’t so dark. Where is the score? I liked seeing how many games in a row I’d won. Why no score? ✓ Great games but fix it!!This game is an overall great game! It is so fun to play with family members and friends. For instance, unlike other word games, you can actually change the place to add the word in this game. Continuing, it contains no adds which is amazing because while you are playing, there are no videos to distract you. Now, this is why I game it a 3 star rating. To begin, it only lets you play one round and then if you want to play again, you have to subscribe. This is really annoying because I don’t want to pay 30 bucks per year on some game. ✓ Can only play one a day before they harass youMy friend at the time suggested I get this app because the Wordle game we all know and love is included in this game (not the actual NYT one, just practice ones). I didn’t expect much from this app, just a place I could play practice word games when I am bored. However, I’m in the app for half a second and it prompts me to buy the pro version. Turns out you can only play 1 word puzzle a day without buying crap from this app. There are so many websites that you can do this for free on, so I’m not sure what the app developers were thinking when they starting charging you for playing these word games. ✓ Love it aside from word choicesI played a game like this when I was younger, so when I came across it I was super happy. Unfortunately some of the words are so far-fetched I can’t even enjoy the puzzle when it seems made up. One example was TOFFY. When the puzzle was over it showed the definition and an example. But the example spelled it “toffee” which is how I know it as. Others I remember: GOWKS, ERNES. Sometimes I get them right but because I’m circling through the alphabet with the missing letter to find a valid word. I’ll be looking for other games similar in hopes for more universal words. ✓ UnplayableI really enjoyed this game. Had no complaint about the words and letters every thing was fine. Then the game updated. I now cannot play as the new design doesn’t allow me access to O, P and L letters on the right of the keyboard. This makes the game unplayable for me. ✓ Nice to use but terrible dictionaryEven the common words option includes rare and pointless words like stook, iroko , prees, jakes, jowar, melty that neither I nor Apple have ever heard of. Lots of American slang that the rest of us don’t use, but none of our own jargon or colloquialisms. Many perfectly good words are missed out like, and the only example I can remember, is monel. But others even more common. This needs a new dictionary. The definitions it gives at the end are useless as it only includes very common words, and it doesn’t give definitions for most of the words you have never heard of. Later: takes ages to acknowledge completion of a game and you can’t move on to the next until that happens. Frustrating..Version: 1.1
✓ Used to be goodThe new update is just simply terrible. You can not put any letters in the places you want. Moreover , you now only get to play a game every 16 hours and they have also changed it so you can’t even play landscape. They have changed the colour scheme so the words are harder to see. ✓ “Scoring” BugIn my programming job we actually use this type of puzzle as a test for developer candidates. The candidate must take a guess plus the solution as input and emit a correct score. This game apparently makes a common scoring error that many candidates do. For example, the answer is “SKULK” and the player guesses “LULLS”. The correct score would be “1 S in the wrong spot, 1 U in the wrong spot, 1 L in the correct spot.” However, this game scored that as “1 S in the wrong spot, 2 Ls in the wrong spot, 1 U in the wrong spot, 1 L in the right spot.” In other words, the L is scored three times because it was in the guess three times even though it’s only in the solution once. This bug (plus the strange dictionary) make this a challenge to solve indeed!.Version: 1.06

Whenever it brings me to the subscription page (which it does every single time I open the app), the “play for free” button does not work. ✓ The New UpdateI liked the concept of the older version better. 2.0 kinda disappointed me. You’re not able to click the individual spaces anymore to place a letter. You now have to go letter by letter which is honestly kind of annoying. I sorta like the new look but sometimes simple is better. It’s a game that doesn’t require a lot of fancy updates. ✓ Only for Scrabble ProsThis feels like the kind of word game that is specifically meant for professional scrabble players that have thousands of incredibly obscure words memorized, words that basically only ever get used in *incredibly* specialized contexts. I am fairly well educated. I am also a huge consumer of genre fiction and am even myself an author. I hardly have a limited vocabulary, and am typically quite good at games like scrabble and boggle and what have you, despite *not* being the kind of person who bothers to memorize obscure two letter words that never get used in actual conversation. So I find it more than a little annoying that the vast majority of words that come up seem to be obscure species of fish and cacti, or odd regional slang verbs that I’ve even never heard in my life..Version: 1.04

✓ Reduced functions - new lookThe new look DOES not allow you to guess tiles in any order unlike the old version which was amazing. I was helping my niece with downs with spellings and general word use and if we could fill up a tile with the letter we would do that and keep the rest blank to help her get the rhythms of words. For instance once we guessed the E or the R at the end We would fill it in and then articulate the possible words. Hours of fun and learning alas the new version doesn’t allow us to do that anymore and wants to be more of a wordle clone without realising what it had going for it earlier..Version: 2.0

✓ Why the changes?This app was great until the changes today. Now you can no longer place letters that are correct without retyping the word each time. That was the best feature of your app over others. I also don’t like the changes to the theme color. Dark backgrounds are harsh for my eyes with light text. The simple text version before was much easier to read. If it had to be changed, having an option to select your color palette would be better. ✓ Great app, spoilt by adsReally excellent app, advertising changed over the last few months however. Initially there were no ads, which was great. When Google ads started popping up a few weeks ago this was fine, I know they need to bring in some income for supporting the app. However, about a week ago, app started displaying both animated ads and gambling ads. Animated ads aren’t a great choice in a puzzle game where you are wanting to concentrate and gambling ads is an immediate app-knacker for me. Gave it a few days to see if it was a blip but they’re still here, so the apps gone. Note - I don’t and never have gambled so not targeted ads. Games themselves are great, could do with more variation on the crossword puzzles but very addictive and some interesting words thrown in. App looks slick and simple. ✓ Prices…I think PuzzWord is a very fun app and I play it every day! It strengthens my mind and teaches me new words I haven’t ever heard of! While the company strives to make PuzzWord the most efficient app it can be, there are some problems… I do not think you should have to pay to play PuzzWord more than once a day. I think since people have worked their hardest to build this app, it should not need me to pay money to play. I think PuzzWord should be open for everyone without needing to pay. ✓ I loved this game before the updateI loved this game then they did an update. First, the colors completely changed, which I guess I can get used to, but the new board is horrible. You used to be able to add or delete letters in any square you want, but now you can only add or delete them in order. So if I have all letters correct except the first one, you cannot just keep changing just that one to visually news the word before submitting. ✓ Version 2.0 is horrible!I updated today with version 2.0 and they’ve changed the whole interface! You can no longer tap a cell and add a letter in it. You have to add letters left to right no matter what. I can no longer add the letters I know are right where they go while I figure out the rest of the word. Also, your win streak is no longer displayed on the main screen. The letters on the keyboard are lower case. Why? Only capitals are used in the game. The submit button (which that word is in capitals on the keyboard but the surrounding letters are not) moved and now an empty space occupies that part of the keyboard. I program user-interfaces for a living and this update was a huge step backwards..Version: 2.0
✓ Disappointing update to perfect Wordle alternativeWhy, why do developers insist on fixing what isn’t broken? I loved this app because unlike Wordle, you could type in letters one at a time. For example, If you go the 1st and 4th letter right, you could fill them in on the next line and try various combinations of letters to fill in the blanks without displacing the letters you already had right. With the new update I’m literally doing the work on a separate piece of paper then typing in the answer, because the letters only fill in from left to right in order. Sounds petty, but the new tile colors and design are ugly compared to the previous version. I’ll be deleting this and searching for a new app as soon as I break my streak..Version: 2.0

I don’t understand why you made the changes that you did because none of them make any sense. One of the things I liked the best was that I could pick any one of the letter positions and type into it without having to start from the beginning and type in every letter in order. That change makes it much more annoying to play. Also, changing the color scheme so that correct match is now blue instead of green and yellow is in place of the previous blue. ✓ Previous version was betterIgnoring the fact that the dictionary contains too many plurals, the previous version allowed users to edit specific characters at any position making it a nicer experience when guessing words. On my iPhone 8 Plus the keyboard overlaps the game board making it unaesthetic. The new colours don’t do the game much justice anymore although I don’t completely oppose a dark mode version but it would be nice to switch between the two. ✓ Update changed the entire gameWas enjoying this game on my phone, so downloaded to my iPad yesterday. The game board is now circles rather than a grid, and the ability to select specific spots and fill in known letters is gone. Letters can only be added sequentially now, so if you rely on visualizing potential words by seeing the correct letters in their places, this is much harder to do. Today, the version on my phone automatically updated as well, so now the version I enjoyed is gone. Worst part is now I can only play each game level once every 12 hours after I win. ✓ Version 2.0 —- ruined it.I enjoyed the previous version. 4 or 5 stars. This version is very frustrating. 1. The scaled down the keyboard. So, it’s different than the native keyboard, on which I type relatively accurately and quick. Their scaled down size keeps me hitting the wrong keys. Mistyping and having to backspace. 2. I can no longer put letters in whichever box I want. It only allows you to type from box 1, and you can’t leave a blank space on other positions.. get what I am saying. If the word is “PIOUS” And I discovered that the P and S Are in correct placement. I cant simply put “P- - - S” and try to envision other letters in the blanks I left. Annoying. 3. I don’t like that I can no longer see my streak count from the game board. 4. I enjoyed playing “difficult words” not just common words. Occasionally, I’d learn a new word and they would give you a definition. Miss that too. 5. The letters are smaller. Don’t like that. ✓ Wish they have a different color to show when there are two letters in the same wordOverall a good game, but like other reviewers mentioned it’s hard to tell what’s supposed to show two letters in the same word since the use the same color as a letter in the wrong spot. For example I played the word HILLY and it had my first L as green and my second L as blue. In the instructions it was a blue letter means it’s in the wrong spot, but it can also mean there’s two of the letter if that letter is played twice in a word. So the second blue made me think L was in it again, but turns out it was just staying that it was in the wrong spot and the correct spot was the first L. Hard to read the words with how far they are spaced out, and you can just refresh for a new word at any time, completely erasing the challenge of keeping a long streak. ✓ Is this English?The game is almost everything you’d hope it would be… your favorite Word game without waiting 24 hours for a new game. However, my gripe is that the word list digs too far into the crannies of the English language, using words only a Jeopardy champion could possibly know. In that way, you find yourself t guessing random letter to solve a puzzle rather than trying to unscramble words you probably know. When the answers are revealed, you may often curse at the app rather than at yourself because there was no way you were ever going to thoughtfully solve the puzzle.
