✓ Remote controlMy iPhone11 is connected successfully with A7IV. Needed to remove BT settings manually both phone and camera, though. Remote control function is great and improved from imaging edge. Sometimes connection is unstable and the data transfer is failed. I’ve experienced the same with other companies’ camera and app… That could be how wireless content transfer between phone and camera should be, but it’s painful. ✓ So many little thingsI have an A7IV and sometimes use this app to control or or copy a few photos to my phone if I wanna show my wife or friends some highlights before I can offload my memory card. Here’s my issues with it: 1. Every time I go to use it, it wants me to log in again. This takes away a lot being able to just open the app and use it. 2. ✓ Heartbreaking.. Improvement NeededI recently purchased a Sony camera to start my “content creator” journey. I have TONS of space on my camera (SD card) and the device I’m importing it to have a large amount of space. ✓ DreadfulOne of the worst Apps I’ve ever used would give it -5 Stars. Finds the camera no problem but it’s a complete lottery if it will download photos. Every now and then it does no problem, sometimes it just won’t connect, sometimes it fails halfway through. Fixes? Give me a break, I’m not reconnecting and reinstalling every time I want to get to my photos. Shameful stuff from SONY and enough to make me start looking for a new Fuji. ✓ Still doesn’t work properlyEven this latest release hasn’t fixed the problem of my A7iv not reconnecting when I switch the camera on. If I leave the app running and switch the camera on, it will connect (for gps info), but if I switch the camera off for a short period (eg driving to another nearby location) then switch it back on, the app won’t reconnect. I have to get my phone out and restart the app. Camera firmware and app are both the latest versions. It’s clear as soon as you start the app that it’s just trying to upsell you on lots of cloud storage and other services and here I am just wanting to use my brand new camera. ✓ Total junk!This app is a complete junk! It won’t connect with A7IV, I keep getting “Could Not Connect” message. I performed all the troubleshooting steps, deleted paired devices in settings, changed location permissions on the phone, it still does NOT pair with the camera. It is SO embarrassing that Sony is stuck in the early 2000’s with their Bluetooth/WI-FI technology and simply incapable of delivering a reliable solution. ✓ Serious bug, unable to access photosThis is likely an oversight. There is no allow photos access in settings. When I do remote images, no copies of images are saved to photos app since there’s no photo access. The images are still in card so it’s not critical but concerning that this important feature is not tested thoroughly and I expect that to be fixed in next update soon. ✓ GPS geotagging disconnects when camera turns offThe only reason I downloaded this app is to attach the phone's geotag to the photos. But my a7r V (firmware version 2.0) turns off after a few minutes. When it wakes up, it doesn't auto reconnect to the phone. ✓ Most stupid way of using a puzzle to loginI have some colour visual impairment and instead of Sony trying to make it easy for users to sign in, the developers thought it was a great idea to introduce a puzzle (have to get it right for 10 consecutive times) to be able to login. I struggled for more than 20 times and gave up as I have some visual impairment trying tod the puzzle. Sony, please get your developers to rework the puzzle, just get rid of it as we are all humans using it. So make it easy if you want to verify if it is humans logging in instead of making it so difficult. And your audio puzzle is equally stupid! ✓ Can’t even sign inI’ll start with “I’m not a tech idiot.” I have a ton of apps including other photo apps. This is simply one of the worst and most frustrating apps I’ve ever encountered. I’ve tried for over a week to just get signed IN to the app and have to walk away in frustration. I put in my email get a message to reset the password, so I do. ✓ Mixed bag - some issues need fixingThe new Creators’ App is certainly better than Sony Imaging Edge, but it still has a few issues. (1) Even with the brand new a6700 and this new app, I still regularly get unexpected disconnects from the camera, especially the first time I connect. Always a frustrating start to importing in a hurry. Errors like “Could not perform” are probably not the humorous self-deprecating critique they’re meant to be. (2) There’s no way to just import all new photos/videos. Every time you go to import, you’re presented with the full set (by day), so if it’s been a while, or if you’re re-importing for the 2nd or 3rd time that day, you have to go back and check where you got up to. (3) There’s no easy way to select a lot of photos, except by entire days. So if you’ve imported once or twice during the day, it gets more and more complicated to select all the new photos one by one by one by one… I’m effectively discouraged from regularly syncing my camera card to my phone. The only valid critique anyone has put forward on the new a6700 is the single memory card slot. A functional quick-re-sync to your phone would obviate the need for a 2nd card, by allowing you to backup regularly. Fix this. (4) As a camera remote, it should have a watch companion app. This would be amazing when you’ve got your hands full with what you’re shooting..Version: 2.1.0

Recently bought a zv-e1 and learned that to do smartphone control it only works with this latest app. Why do they feel a need to release a completely new app every year. As well as keeping the old ones in circulation…. Its insanely confusing. Also cannot get the app to recognize the camera. Its shows up to start the connectiong process but it never shows up on the accessory list? Why are there so many steps in the first place?! The camera should just connect from that first selectiong but they make you go through a five step process. Just simplify thing please this app system is a NIGHTMARE. There at least six different ways to connect just in the camera menu! Why are there six? just stick to one and make it reliable! I don't six different methods to connect that are all programmed badly. I would like just one reliable one. And ONE phone app. Just stick with making one app and make it good, update it. ✓ Another failed attemptI’ve gone months without access from my mobile device to my camera. A feature I bought this camera for specifically. Now this new app is here to replace the last broken one. And to my amazement it doesn’t work. Errors the whole way through the setup process but it finally connected to my camera however, the main reason for using this app doesn’t work. I cannot sync with it to pull images and video. I get the error message : Cannot establish connection with the camera. Check the camera status and try again. ✓ GeotaggingThe worst thing about my Sony Alpha cameras is the lack of GPS. This works the same as imagine edge, no difference. The biggest issue is that the phone/app does not automatically connect to the camera when it turns on. This means every time I turn the camera off and on - which happens a lot when you are travelling - I need to take my phone out of my pocket and open creators app. If you make this auto connect to the camera without me having to manually unlock my phone or open the app then I am happy to make this a five star review. ✓ Not fit for purposeThis app has been detrimental to my mental health due to the infuriating timeouts and the stress it causes every time (literally every time!) I attempt to use it. I ended up buying an SD card reader for my iPhone and life is much better now. The SD card reader was affordable and now downloads hundred of high res photos in a fraction of the time the app took. They’re among the worst I’ve seen in an app. But the biggest issue I have, as someone who’d like to remotely control just the shutter on my camera via Bluetooth, is that the app requires location access to “find nearby cameras.” My camera, the a7 IV, doesn’t know where it is since it doesn’t have GPS, so I’m not sure why this app would need my location. The app is also unstable and sometimes either drops the connection with the camera, or just quits. When it does connect, the photos get transferred etc ok. I found another app, Shutter, recommended by a blog and this has so many more features and works reliably! ✓ Timestamps of imported photos are wrongWhen you import photos from the camera, and save them into iPhone’s photo library, the timestamps would become the time when the import happens, rather than when the photos were taken. However, when the photos are copied to the computer via a card reader, the timestamps are correct. This is really annoying and should be fixed. I’ve tried weekly for months. I get hopes up thinking it will connect and it never does. Then I get a big message on my screen asking for permission to submit the error report, which I do submit. This app is garbage. For as much money Sony has for R&D, I would think a mobile app would be half decent. It’s not even 1/4 decent. As a former Canon user, I regret switching. This app, to me, is better that the previous but it does seem clumsy and not well put together. ✓ GPS Link is unreliableI had no issues with the Edge app which this one is replacing. The Edge app reconnects every single time like a clock. This one does not. ✓ Barely worksIt has been a huge pain to get this to work. I finally got it to work with my iPad but still cannot get it to work with my iPhone. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t and the whole interface is very antiquated. I also use the RED CONTROL app, on both my iPad and iPhone which is amazing and quick the interface is excellent. Disappointed on this Sony app I would expect much more especially seeing what RED has done. ✓ An 3rd rate attempt to obtain users dataThis app is required to download & remote control a number of the newer Sony Cameras. Sony would like access to your location, media, usage and device information. Don’t grant this and you get very frequent pop up errors. They want this for marketing and research. Camera connection via Bluetooth didn’t work, didn’t show why it wasn’t working, or even that a Bluetooth connection had been established. Wifi functional, but neither intuitive nor well implemented. ‘Social media’ component exists- you too could be a superstar on a platform that’s never likely to go anywhere or be anything. Cloud storage sounds tempting- but given how poorly the rest of the app functions I’d be very cautious putting anything of value on the cloud. Oh and probably worth checking that cloud stored data is secure, not used for marketing or research..Version: 2.2.0
✓ Buggy Performance on 15 Pro + A7R VThis app worked flawlessly for the first week or so. The connecting process was slower than I wanted but it worked. Now every time I join my camera’s access point and successfully connect, the system auto disconnects immediately after. It’s absurd. It pops up some ridiculously long error message and asks if I want to report it, but nothing has improved. I can usually connect fine right after this has occurred but this shouldn’t happen at all. ✓ Turn off notifications and Always On GPSSony really know how to abuse notifications, I’ve had nearly a dozen useless badges and messages this month alone, and the month isn’t over yet. And why does it keep polling my location even when the app has not been used for a long time? I really only wanted this app for GPS tags and connectivity, but it does neither well. You have to remember to open the app and “connect” to the camera EVERY TIME before GPS tags are recorded, so it’s 95% useless. Trying to get images from the camera to your phone is a big guessing game. I specified Bluetooth, but it insists on creating a local wireless network over wifi, and you are never really sure how, or even if, you are connected to the camera. The Creator “features” are no more than a cloud storage upsell, and the UI just smacks of generic low effort. Where is the value in sharing to a cloud platform that nobody else uses? I would like Sony to focus on making complicated things (like connectivity) more simplified, and stop wasting effort and UI real estate on a cloud platform that nobody asked for..Version: 2.0.3
