✓ Annoying adsOn the phone version, I paid to have ads removed, but the undo button is right under the 1 and because it’s so close you often press undo instead of 1 when trying to be fast. ✓ Used to be great. Wish the newest update hadn’t happened.I’ve been avidly playing this suduko for years and this newest update has made it awful. Not only does the interface look all weird and squished on an iPhone 7S, but the controls don’t work as well as they did before his update. The ads are also awful now too, I get then an app needs ads for revenue but if your ads last for 30 seconds after each game and play music and stop my music that’s already playing, I’m not going to play the game anymore. ✓ A good sudoku game, absolutely ruined by the battery life depleting.A well built app with great functionality that has been ruined by the battery depletion. The battery life functionality on iPhones nowadays helps with checking apps that deplete battery life more than others, and with this it goes down swiftly (I noticed around 7% depletion every 5 minutes on a phone with battery condition at 98%) which is really bad and shows a lack of optimisation for iOS devices..Version: 1.8.9

✓ Adverts, adverts, advertsI paid for the advert free version which was very good. Yesterday I started getting adverts. So many adverts it is now unplayable. Clicking on the pause button triggers adverts which you can’t exit from. There’s adverts at the bottom of the screen while you are playing. ✓ Ads ruined the experienceThis was my go-to game for relaxation. Put on a podcast and open Sudoku. Then the latest release came out. Now when I open Sudoku, my audio coming from other apps is muted for Sudoku’s in-game ads. That means I can’t listen to a podcast, even if the Sudoku in-game ad isn’t playing audio. That’s a deal-breaker for me. A step over the line between “I can deal with occasional ads” and “These ads are more important than my preferred experience.” If there’s not a new update in a few days to fix this issue, I’m finding a new Sudoku app..Version: 1.9.29

✓ Used to be a great appUpdate: I may be thinking of a different app made by ticbits but that doesn’t change anything. The latest update still seriously broke things. The app used to be made by ticbits (or similar name) and was great then. It must have been sold to someone that doesn’t know what they are doing because the thing has become the most annoying sudoku I have ever played. It crashes and proceeds to forget several of your previous moves. Tonight it crashed as I was putting in the last number in the last square and it forgot the entire game when I got back in. It has been long enough since the update that the developer should have done SOMETHING by now. Back out the current version and put the old one back in the store. Anything would be better than this. ✓ WHY DID YOU DO THIS???I have had this app and used it religiously for probably over a decade. I could obsessively play games for hours without interruption. I really loved this app. After a 6/13 update, I can no longer go from game to game seamlessly. Now, I have to sit and watch a 30 second ad and then I have to close the ad once the ‘x’ appears at the end of it. I am done with this app. As soon as I find a new app, this one will be deleted. As far as I am concerned, this has completely ruined my experience of playing sudoku in your app. Very disappointing. UPDATE: I stuck it out a few months hoping things would get better but it is now worse. We went from an add every few games to one after every single game and even sometimes when you leave a games in progress and then come back, there’s another ad. ✓ Gone down hill.I’ve had this game on all my IOS devices since my first iPhone, I’ve spent many hours playing and am not far off all the achievements, it is the only app I have continuously used since owning an apple product. I’ve always loved the simplicity and user friendly interface. However since the introduction of adverts and the ridiculous price to remove them, the quality has declined. The game now crashes on a regular basis and forces me to reset my phone. It also plays white noise for some unknown reason. So it is with great regret and frustration that I am deleting this from my phone and downloading one of the many others available on the App Store. ✓ Now rubbish!The latest version of this game is rubbish and had ruined what was a great version of Sudoku. Some random other game now takes over the screen from which you cannot escape apart from maybe waiting for the 30 second timer to expire. ✓ DO NOT APPLY SEPTEMBER 9 UPDATEIf you haven't updated your app yet and are still using a version from before September 9, 2018, DO NOT UPDATE. The game no longer works with that update. It will not even register that you are touching the screen. In spite of numerous reports and complaints, the developer has yet to do anything useful about it. Previous review: Simpler is better! After using a few programs with silly bells and whistles, this is definitely my favorite. It best replicates the comfortable feeling of doing the puzzle for yourself, rather than to necessarily beat the clock or hit a certain score. You have a clock if you want to beat it, but its presence is unobtrusive and pressure-free. You won't get hit by onerous penalties if you touch the wrong number or button (unlike a competing version that I have since uninstalled) and it's pretty hard to hit a wrong button anyway, because everything is arranged so well on the screen. If you DO feel competitive, you can check your position on the leaderboard and keep an eye on the clock, but none of the competitive aspects will ever get in the way of those times when you just want to relax with a favorite number puzzle. Get this Sudoku app and you'll forget all about the others..Version: 1.8.6
✓ Almost perfect....Love that you can turn off any hints or highlighting that might offer assistance; EXCEPT when you've placed all nine of a number, that number grays out. Boo! No hints, no help. I want the ability to put too many fours out there if I'm not paying attention. Please fix that. I'm OCD, and those kinds of things bother me. That's my only complaint. Everything else is great. I especially love the stats. It keeps track of how many games you've played, and how many you've completed, and your top 10 best times for each skill level. ✓ Used to love this, but maybe no good for older iPhoneI’ve had this app for years, and in the last month it became problematic in that their little ad bar for paying to remove ads from the app started to become something that would bring up a pop up window after leaving the app asking if I wished to use my thumb to verify the purchase of removing ads. This is showing up on my home screen. Well yesterday when I pressed the home button it also verified the purchase because I was double pressing the home button to switch to a different app. And Apple won’t refund the purchase..Version: 1.9.17
✓ ProblemsAll of a sudden this game has been rendered useless because it continually freezes up while playing. Time to download a different sudoku app. 🙁 And since the last update, when all of the annoying ads came along, the game constantly crashes - you cannot play two games in a row without it crashing. ✓ Ridiculous amount of adsThis app used to be so good, until they introduced ads. And it would’ve been fine if it wasn’t for how annoying the ads are by keeping you for a long time before you can go back to the menu after finishing a game. ✓ Impossible to do...So, I had thought that I couldn’t finish the puzzles on the ‘hard’ level because I had it on that level of difficulty... but I always encountered the same problem... Every single time I tried a puzzle on ‘Hard’ difficulty, I would get the puzzle close to being done and then would not be able to make a single next move.. and this happened A LOT. I would come back to it the next day and double checked multiple times and still could not go anywhere with what there was unless I just guessed a number.... so I would have to end the game and start a new one. i have been playing sudoku for a very long time and have never had this problem before. And then today, I played on ‘Medium’ and the numbers that are already set have the 9s placed to where it’s impossible to put a 9 in a box section that needs a 9. I have a picture to prove it. It just makes no sense and the numbers given to start out with are poorly set up to where it’s impossible to solve. ✓ Good app ruined by ridiculous levels of advertisingI’ve used this app for a number of years and until relatively recently there was a decent balance of game play and the inevitable advertising. Not anymore - advertising has become ridiculously intrusive to the point where you don’t even get to see what you’ve scored before the next advert for a game /product you’re never going to want comes up. ✓ Crashes with AdsThis has been my go-to Sudoku app for a long time now. The new update though hits you with more ads, especially when you pause a game. I get it. It’s a necessary evil and the developers need to make money, but the app has been very buggy ever since these changes were made. Each game crashes at least once or twice, while also having to deal with slow down in the tap response. For the longest time, I’ve never experienced this app to be buggy or have it crash until they started implementing more ad space. It’s a shame because it comes at the cost of the performance of the app. Update: May 29, 2022 Just found out this 61mb-sized app stores almost a whopping 1GB of documents and data. Why?? I find this to be very suspicious and will not be using this app anymore..Version: 1.9.30

✓ Changed for the worstThis app used to be awesome. Recent changes however have convinced me its time to switch to a new app. They’ve fixed several since my last review, but some still remain. For example, the ads must play sounds (I don’t hear them since my ringer is off) that turn off whatever music I have playing. They also still have the “feature” where they disable the numeric button for any number it thinks you’ve completed...but this means you can’t remove any notes you still have in other cells for that figure. ✓ Previously satisfied, now major problems with this appThough I was initially happy with this app, there are now a number of pretty egregious problems with it. Its responsiveness is horrible—there’s a delay in response time after touching the screen, and sometimes it downs register your touch at all. There is also a weird metallic chirping sound that plays periodically, which, aside from being loud and really unpleasant, pauses whatever you’re listening to on your phone. ✓ All joy pummelled out of me by ads.This is a very well implemented Sudoku app, but when the reward for completing a puzzle is a 30 second unskippable ad, all satisfaction is viciously removed from the experience. I realise the developers have to make money somehow, and that the majority of users probably don’t finish that many puzzles per day. However, $25 to remove ads is pretty steep. To me, this is a pretty serious deterrent to using the app. Not only is $25 an offputting amount of money, but the frequency of ads is too, and it feels like my enjoyment is being held for ransom..Version: 1.9.27

✓ It used to be good...Since the take over of this game by a new company, it is obvious that the goal is not to improve the game but to improve the profits and it shows. The game is not using the basic UI standards (back button instead of a right swipe for instance), the 4 levels are not progressing evenly (easy and medium are very close, hard is fine and expert requires guessing), and bugs are introduced (ie. each time I restart the game and finish a puzzle, I see all the notifications about achievements *again* and the notification is not even centered and half hidden on top of my screen)... To make things worse the buttons fall off the bottom of a 4S so u can't erase numbers, enter notes or remove a wrong number (can only overwrite it.) ✓ This used to be great!I've had this app for over four years now and it has been my most used app. Seriously, I have completed over 5,000 puzzles. I'm now going to mention how much time I have spent on it. I have loved this app for all of that time. Until yesterday. The most recent update makes the graphics look seriously dated and the boxes seem smaller. These hurt the app's usability. The new "feature" of having the numbers disappear from the bank as they are used up is pretty weak as well. Nobody needs a crutch to play sudoku. Really. But, worst of all, the statistics page cuts off the time of day. I keep track of my top times. Well, I used to keep track. Now I can't tell the time of day unless I immediately make a note. I can't even begin to say how disappointed I am. But just to give you an idea, this is the first time I have ever reviewed an app - the first time I have thought about reviewing one, really. ✓ Those ANNOYING advertsI love this game and play it every day on my way to work. BUT the annoying, intrusive and stupid adverts for games that pop up all the time may make me stop using the APP. I will NEVER buy anything that is being advertised, on principle. It was annoying enough having a strip at the bottom of the game that sometimes flashes to catch your attention but at least those did not interfere with the game. Some of the pop-up adverts that have come up recently do not even have a way to cancel them. For these I have to shut down the game and restart to get rid of the advert. If this is your way of alienating customers of your game, well done, mission accomplished!!.Version: 1.9.17
✓ SudukoI hate the new change to the number panel which unhighlightes each number when you have filled all of those numbers on the puzzle. There are two things I hate about it. Firstly if you have that number left in some notes, you cannot remove that number from the notes because the number panel will not let you use that number anymore. You have to clear one of the numbers from the puzzle, remove the number from all notes, and then enter that number back into the puzzle. Secondly, I don't want any help with the puzzle. My vote is for this new feature to be removed..Version: 1.8.1
✓ It used to be good, but the ads have gotten over the top annoying.I never leave reviews but this app has gotten annoying. I’ve been playing it for years, and I was totally ok when there were ads at the bottom of the screen. They weren’t in the way while playing, but now when you finish a game a full screen ad comes up and if I’m listening to music it stops my music of course, which is annoying because it takes you out of the flow that it’s so nice while playing sudoku. If it keeps up I don’t know if I’ll keep playing this game because yeah ads are important and you may want to pay to get the ad-less version but sometimes you just want to play sudoku without paying and without stupid ads popping up while you’re playing..Version: 1.9.17

✓ Adware detracts from the experienceThe interface is great—I love it, but the introduction of ads for other software that hold you hostage for 30 seconds or hide the X are intolerable. So unfortunate. Further, some of the ads come with full on volume making it unfortunate if you are in a noise sensitive area..Version: 1.9.17
✓ App seems to be corrupted/hackedI’ve been using this app for years, then all of a sudden the app started making ding sounds while I was playing. Then inappropriate images would flash periodically. I deleted the app and downloaded it again, and while I was playing, a notification came up that looked like what one would find in the App Store when downloading an app, which asked for my fingerprint to remove (instead of download) the app for a fee. I deleted the app but am now wondering if my phone has been hacked through the app?.Version: 1.9.17
