✓ Good game, but lots of bugsI play this game for a while, it is a strong strategy game base on cards. It deserves for my 1st place board game. However, the game showed up some bugs which is annoying. When I played my score card, it dominated region only gave me presents score. ✓ App needs a bit of work, but great game.The game is great. No one’s buying into a Twilight Struggle app questioning the gameplay. That said, the app itself needs a lot of work. -There is no multitasking support. The moment you leave the app, heck, swipe down and open Notification Center, expect the app to completely restart when you open it back up, splash screens and all. This needs to be addressed. Don’t require I log in every time, and support multitasking, even if it just brings me back to the lobby instead of completely rebooting the app. -Chat is poorly implemented. You don’t get notifications of chats, and there autocorrect doesn’t work. -The game Log or history is hard to interpret. Quick text to try and explain some complicated turns. Have the ability to “rewind” or to show a replay of a turn. -Your position on the space race isn’t clear, the giant window that appears when you tap on the space race should make it much more obvious if you can still play a card to it or have failed it this turn. The color coding isn’t enough to decipher this. -The in game rules/help menus are very limited and don’t match the rule book shown in the main menu. I find myself referring to the PDF version of the rules, especially for understanding scoring (what is domination again vs control?) This again leads to the app restarting, see my first point. -When a card is an ongoing event, you have to hold your finger on the card to read it again. But don’t move your finger one pixel! Otherwise that card disappears. Force the card to stay open and throw up a little X to close it when I’m done. -The symbols are not descriptive as to what they do. There are back arrows, check marks, Xs, and bullseyes. Just put small text. Following up on that. If I place 4 influence out, but want to pull back the last one I placed, I have to hit the back arrow, which pulls off all my influence and my card, then replay the whole turn. Allow players more flexibility than this. I’m sure there are other things, but this is a good start. At minimum, I’d hold off from buying this app until the multitasking is resolved. It is incredibly annoying to have to constantly log in and wait for the app to load and show you your turn again..DamienkisVersion: 1.1.3

✓ So far so good... Or so I thoughtLet me start by saying the underlying game is fantastic. It's the best board game I've played on iOS, and I've played loads of them. It seems many people are having trouble with this app. Let me tell you my situation. I'm using an iPad Air 2 with latest iOS. I've played through the tutorial twice without an issue. I played three games where I lost to the AI in turn 4, turn 2 and turn 6 (I'm new to this game so still learning!). No bugs or problems found at all. Seems to run smoothly. The AI takes about 15 seconds to decide what to do, which I don't think is too bad at all. I won my fourth game. It was a tense game and the score was level as we approached the end of turn 7. However, the AI then played a card and chose to attempt a coup in a battleground. The problem was that the defcon level was at 2. It therefore lost the game. I double checked the card played, and the AI had a choice, so in effect it chose to lose the game. It felt like a hollow victory and a disappointing end to a good game. ✓ Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!When I first got this a week ago, I would have given this 4 or 5 stars. After my first game or 2, however, I have run into MANY bugs. -Southeast Asia scoring card appeared in early war and then came back around! This is game changing if you know how to play this game. - sometimes you can add extra influence with no card or reason behind it when placing influence. - I just lost a game after the AI player chose to make a coup attempt on a battleground country at a level 2 defcon (AI should have lost) - “free” coup attempts *sometimes* degrade defcon - once a scoring card popped up that was not actually in either player’s hand. These are just a few. I think I have had bugs come up in 60% of my games. Once, it said I had degraded the defcon and ended the game when I hadn’t played any cards that do that, nor had I made a coup attempt on a battleground. The actual board game is great, but I don’t think I will waste my time with this app. Sounds like they don’t fix bugs... Not worth putting the time into playing a game if you can randomly just lose through no fault of your own after 45 minutes. Buy the board game, find someone to play with! ✓ Impossible to learn and hopelessly rigged against beginning playersI am having to delete this from my Ipad because I am about ready to break it with a hammer. I have played many board and strategy games and this one has a steep learning curve and suffers from one difficulty level so you'll find yourself losing over and over and over and over again and not learning anything which is the real frustration. No matter which side I play the other computer controlled side thrashes me. Can any starting player ever win this game against the AI? I have played at least 15 times now and no matter how well you play, the AI will do some last minute maneuver, gain much influence in some region ("dominate" a region because it only controls one "battleground" country in Asia like this could be Thailand in Asia and that somehow connotes domination which is not very intuitive or realistic) and then play a scoring card to get several points. The AI is clearly cheating in some fashion. A lower level AI might help one to learn some more about the game. As it stands now, after devoting 10 hours or so, I feel like I've just spun my wheels and gotten no where. By way of comparison, Victory Games "Cold War" was more enjoyable to play than this ever was. Maybe play against someone else? ✓ Flawed AIA generally good port of my favourite board game but the offline gameplay suffers from an AI that cannot seem to get past holding scoring cards that favour the opponent. Winning a game because the AI won't play scoring cards, therefore immediately losing the game, is far from a satisfying experience given that scenario simply doesn't happen when playing human opponents. ✓ New bugsGreat game but recently has started developing lots of bugs. I didn’t see these a year ago so not sure what happened but it is making the game nearly unplayable. Space race track is not always being progressed despite having successful die rolls. This is the biggest bug and really hinders the game. Game no longer allows you to take actions to advance the DEFCON track to Level 1, ending the game, when the AI opponent plays cards to allow you to do so (ex: USSR playing CIA with current DEFCON of 2). Multiple graphical issues are annoying but not imperative, such as numbers not being on the adding VP stars. AI in general is very subpar, proceeding with some terrible moves but yet always seeming to know your scoring card..DrDrew007Version: 1.4.4

✓ Fix bugs with coup and realignmentGreat game, but the rules implementation is buggy. There is inconsistency in the Interface allowing coup in areas where the insurgent army does not have influence. The official rules PDF states that one does not need to have influence in the territory to start a coup, and sometimes this is the case in the iOS version as well, but other times the interface prevents coups when you dont have influence in the country. ✓ Lazy Developer not very good at fixing bugs.One star! This developer NEVER FIXED the game resetting itself in the background. That’s inexcusable to release the game that way. Then YEARS later, they STILL have not fixed that issue. I wanted to take notes during the Tutorial and this BUG prevents that. They don’t even have a setting for running in the background. A third bug in the Tutorial. Tapping DEFCON Status does nothing. A long touch and the text flashes by. That cuts it. Wasted my money! Deleted. It’s a shame that a good game is ruined by a poor developer. The last thing this developer fixed was IAP a YEAR AGO. But not the remaining bugs. I remember a time (30 years ago) when game developers were driven by the desire to put out a “quality” product and were embarrassed if a bug got out. Switch to today when customer’s, ridiculously, accept software bugs in paid for apps as normal. What fools! Oh, by the way, in those days we took the program (games, whatever) back to the store for a complete refund. That’s called “incentive”. Put out quality software or go out of business. The trouble starts when trying to play the game as there are a number of game breaking issues such as it took 5 attempts to get through the tutorial due to the game getting stuck. It gets worse as trying to play a game results in crashing occurring at least once every turn. ✓ AI can't get past turn threeThe adaptation is good, great UI, nice music, etc. But the AI can't seem to handle a full game. My latest attempt saw it get stuck trying to parcel out the influence from de-Stalinization (it had picked the influence it wanted to lose, but not where to put it). The game needs a "skip AI action" button that is usable after 20s and which cannot make the AI lose except on points. That would make the game completable whilst the bugs are hunted down. ✓ Great game - big bugsThe game itself is great. I would have rated it 4 stars however anytime De-Stalinization is played the games AI can't handle it. It will either sit there make a choice after a few minutes or it crashes or just infinitely spins trying to decide. Because of this you could be in the midst of a great game and then it gets ruined. But... the Devs must fix the lack of multi-tasking so that the web and downloadable 400+ page strategy guide can be consulted while learning the ropes. This card based strategic war game is a classic. I've searched for years for a satisfyingly balanced and deep strategy game on the iPad and finally it's here. This beautifully balanced game is a well established work of pure gaming genius. Perfectly playable for me right now this polished, slick and beautiful digital implementation just needs a little more time lavished on it and i'll happily give it the fifth star. Update: it's been months now since release and the devs have made no attempt to fix the milt-tasking problem. The game is therefore not playable for me. Dropped a star. Destabilization if played early will make the AI think for like half an hour!!! just give it some kind of heuristic/shortcut to help it decide faster I end up spacing the card early necessary lay just to avoid the million years the AI takes to think. (and I have an IPad Pro, can't imagine how long it takes on a normal iPad.) 2. It will randomly coup at times when you play a card when you haven't even chosen to do so. It made me do deacon 1 on a late game that I was doing well in (at least make it so you can CANCEL a Coup if it will result in defcon 1, I mean who is even bothering to coup in that situation!!) ✓ Soooofrustrating!Hey playdek, fantastic implementation. However, AI has frequently triggered defcon 1 and won the game. This is of course, contrary to the rules. Even after investing much time and getting clear up to round 8 or 9. The AI also knows what score cards you're holding and will play hard for that region. I have even completed a game for final scoring and had the game tell me I've lost, even though I had more points! For now I'm done wasting time on this. ✓ Great game but....ughFirst off, this is a great game and superb conversion to iPad. While playing the actual board game is a fun social event, I actually prefer the app. I play on an iPad Air 2. The problem is the AI. I'd heard the original was frustrating and slow, but the version I played was better (still easy to beat, but at least AI wouldn't hold cards or regularly commit avoidable DEFCON suicide), and pretty quick to make moves. No match compared to a human opponent, but a good 'punch bag' to hone skills and tactics. With the latest update (Dec 19) it's now almost unplayable... super slow and those old AI gremlins are back. It can sometimes take a little while to find opponents in Online mode; this is not the end of the world, but an update like this will do nothing for the popularity of this wonderful game, which is a real shame. I have the board game and it's hard to get the time to commit severally hours for a single game, so I have been waiting for this port with painful patience. ✓ Great game, abandoned app.The game itself is an absolute classic, the adaptation faithful. Unfortunately the app hasn‘t received an update for over a year. The resolution is not optimised for recent iOS devices, so it has black bars/border and it doesn‘t have multitasking, which means switching back between apps restarts the app. At least it saves progress after every turn but this is just poor for 2019/2020. And that is a shame as I was continually amazed how the old music would never get tiring, provided background, and yet did not intrude upon my thinking. This new music I could not stand from the get-go. It's creepy and continually takes me out of my thinking. I looked but could find no way to revert to the original. Wish I could say "maybe the new stuff will grow on me" but it will not. It's just too severe.
