T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM for Negative User Reviews

Waste of timeWent through everything, paid and even grabbed the e-sim and never received a confirmation email and I had no service. Checked and I was charged, called twice spent 2 hours on the phone and no resolution since they could not locate anything. I will have to go through my bank now since I have a charge from them..Version: 2.2

Never Worked - They stole $50 from me.Never worked. The Esim never worked because of a “system error”, support assured me they would refund the money and they never did. Followed up dozens of times and no response. I would be cautious using this app if it doesn’t work you’ll never see your money back..Version: 2.2

Took my money and doesn’t workThe all took my money but did not set up the plan. It’s impossible to get any support outside the US and I’m supposed to be travelling tomorrow and need a data. So much stress that I just don’t need. Either fix it or give me my money back..Version: 2.2

Can’t get past opening screenI would love for this to work but can’t figure out how to get past opening screen : enter email The app doesn’t give any way to continue from there so that’s as far as I get. No errors, no user feedback. I am using a new iPhone 12 unlocked and purchased direct from Apple..Version: 1.9.2

Doesn’t workApp doesn’t work. Can’t get past the insert email step.Version: 1.2

Broken! After entering the email address and press next, nothing happens. This app is so broken!.Version: 1.2

Believe it or not, other countries don’t have ZIP codesNot much of a travel app for visitors to US. The setup requires a numeric only ZIP. Hello USA, there are other countries out there. Some have alphanumeric postal codes. Some don’t even have postal codes..Version: 1.2

One Time Use OnlyThis is a great App for one time use. Every time I take a trip to the US and use this I need to use a different email. I’m at the point now where I’m running out of emails. I might be missing something about reusing an account, but this app doesn’t make it easy..Version: 2.2

Called three times, worked it out thanks to the other reviewersSoooo this is a great app, essentially. However, it’s not as awesome as it should be .. because it’s only designed to take numerical postal codes and won’t take the Canadian version (eg: A1B 2C3). I learned this from another reviewer and it WORKED! Take all the numbers in your postal code (in this case, 123) and add 00. Tried and tested! Can’t speak for the service yet because it just worked for me but definitely 1 star for the process until they fix this bug (or at least put it in your FAQ and let your staff know!) PS- I went to a physical T mobile store and they thought this app wasn’t legitimate.Version: 1.9.2

Customer service is the worstError: Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change I get this when scanning the T-Mobile provided QR code. I’ve got purchased the e-sim phone plan with the app and no e-sim was added to my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’ve now spent 6 days of talking to T-Mobile customer support. Each call to customer support has been unprofessional and feeling like speaking to a someone on the first day on the job. Each support ticket or engineering ticket they have told me to wait 24-72 hours. Yet, I still call everyday hoping someone can fix my e-sim. Several engineering tickets later, all marked as resolved, it still doesn’t work. They suggested I use the e-sim app to “buy it again” so I do so and same issue. I have two accounts I can’t use. T-mobile has been a horrible experience. A warning to others..Version: 1.9.2

App does not work on some iphonesUpdate: app still does not work. Keep getting a 505-3033 error, even though location services is on for the app. This is an on-going issue that does not seem to get fixed. At least for me..Version: 2.2

Postal code not acceptedThis is supposed to accept postal codes instead of zip codes, but it does not..Version: 2.0

Terrible service throughout US, impossible to top upThroughout our entire US road trip T-mobile was spotty and never worked reliably (compared to AT&T). When it came time to top up after 3 phone calls and a heap of time the conclusion is that it’s impossible to top up without a US credit card. Avoid..Version: 1.2

App SucksI agree with the previous reviewer. I’m an existing t mobile customer. All I want to do is get my existing number loaded onto the esim card. Shouldn’t be difficult but it clearly is..Version: 1.2

Plz fix"Oops something went wrong" error.Version: 1.0

Horrible for foreignersI don’t think you’ve done a single minute of QA or user testing on this app for someone coming from another country. Unusable. Error messages all the time. Can’t pick the email I want. Can’t enter a postal code with letters. Can’t issue me a phone number. Links that open web pages take me out of the app and when I return to the app, I have to start over. I’m about to try to purchase for the 15th time. I get angrier every time..Version: 2.2

Not working in CanadaI have a US-denominated credit card from TD Bank with a US billing address but the app doesn’t work either. Keep displaying “Error 505”. When I open my TD app, I saw several attempts to charge and then refund my credit card. The app shouldn’t be allowed on the Canadian App Store unless it works reliably..Version: 1.1

Simply doesn’t work!“Oops something went wrong” on loading app. Really?!.Version: 1.2

Does not provide ReceiptsThe service was great, but leaving a 1 star because they don’t provide you a receipt making it difficult to expense the prepaid SIM for work trips. Will try one of their competitors instead..Version: 2.2

Errors whilst trying to payThree different cards failed, some credit some debit. Terrible.Version: 2.0

Doesn’t workKeep getting “invalid zip code error”. The zip code is correct. What’s the point?.Version: 1.2

Not working nowI used this esim last December, but it keeps showing 504 error now....Version: 2.2

Doesn’t workFor starters this app doesn’t offer all of the plans compatible with your phone. Then if you pick a plan at random it will just tell you that it encountered an error and direct you to call customer service that can’t help at all..Version: 2.4

Crash crash crash.I have no idea how this app is scoring so high. Maybe it’s a version issue. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but on 2 very different devices, XS and 14 Pro, no error, just crash and start over. I still can’t get passed choosing a package. So I give up and will try elsewhere..Version: 2.2

Have to call to cancelMyself and 2 members of my family added the prepaid digital eSIM to our phones while we were on vacation in the USA from Europe. It worked pretty well, though getting messaging set-up correctly took some time. The big problem is that the only way to cancel the line and avoid future charges once we returned to Europe, was to call customer service. There needs to be a way to cancel through the app or I won't use this again on our next trip to the US..Version: 2.2

Works fine but be carefulWorks fine. But having a huge problem with it. Wasn’t able to finish the first try I gave it after I paid and lost it all. There was no way to get it set up the one I paid. All I had left was to buy it again then I got thru. So that one number is paid for but can’t use it Make it available on the app to recover such case.Version: 2.2

Very buggy. DisappointingI tried to sign up as a new customer and have had multiple issues. Now, I’m not even able to advance past the point where I enter my email. Customer support was unable to help and eventually asked me to go into a store. Very disappointing and not a great initial experience with T-Mobile..Version: 1.9.2

BooCan’t get past zip code. Contacted T-Mobile. They said you cannot use it without us zip code and us credit card. So why is this on Canadian App Store? I don’t understand how people get this to work? Woulda been nice to know and buy a prepaid card before I leave now I don’t have time. Waste of my time..Version: 2.0

Waste of timeTried and tried and tried - you guys don’t want my money.Version: 1.2

Scammer and not works! Tourists get out Tmobile!I have just enrolled for a prepaid account using T-Mobile eSim app. All the process seemed to work fine (I got a phone number and had my CC charged) but in the end there was some kind of problem installing the new eSim on my iPhone. Now it seems I am locked out of service, since the app requires a different e-mail and the creation of a new account to run again. How can I get the eSim for my existant and already paid for prepaid phone number now?.Version: 2.3

Security concerns!!!!!!It’s a great idea and I have been excited about eSIM for months waiting for my carrier to unlock my phone after the 90 day period. T-Mobile was innovative by releasing this app but their US operations have no commitment to security. Their customer support is terrible and they’ve been suspicious and dishonest toward me. I am 99% sure they compromised my phones security or at the very least deliberately altered setting on my line and went against my wishes. I noticed that Telekom Deutsche has much higher standards than US operations. And I am an investor and they did this to me so imagine the average customer..Version: 1.9.2

Slow internet speedWorked properly for two days, after that the speed dropped down to 500kb/s, called customer service support they are “working “ on resolving the issue but one week later nothing changed....Version: 1.9.2

Doesn’t workTheir servers have been down for the past couple of weeks. App no longer works at all..Version: 2.2

MDN_55As has been already mentioned, esim app does not allow for Canadian postal codes. This is puzzling given TMobile is targeting travellers with its esim plans. Seems like it should be a simple fix but the app hasn’t yet been updated. Travelling to US soon so hoping this is addressed quickly....Version: 1.1

Odd Requirement - UPDATESeems like it would be perfect for travellers coming to the US and it’s even advertised as such on their website. However, the App only accepts US zip codes and won’t let you create an account without one. This seems really odd. You publish the app in a different country and tell those residents you need to provide a zip code they don’t have. This should not be a required field. I can only imagine this has caused so much lost revenue for the company it’s so bizarre. Update - Ok, I called T-Mobile and they couldn’t answer my question about my issue but I did some digging. You don’t need to use the “postal code to zip code” trick. The reason they first ask you for a zip code is just so they can give you a number from that area. As long as it’s valid it really doesn’t matter what you pick. Once you pay for your plan you will find that you can enter your country and proper Postal Code no problem. This is purely a communication issue with the app. I’ve adjusted my review score but will wait until I make my trip over the border before giving it 5 stars..Version: 2.0

5G too slowThe coverage where I am suppose to be good. I would have better signal with my Canadian provider. I made a few speed test and it’s very slow in the area.Version: 2.2

Only works for limited countriesTraveling from Bermuda and thought this was a good way to get service before arriving. Have to load the app and get all the way through to payment only to find out they don’t take many international credit cards. Disappointed and now have to go hunting for a store to buy a sim when we get there..Version: 2.2

Not well thought outSo, this app is available in the Canadian app store. It is targeted at travelers to the USA yet the credit card payment section requires a zip code (will not accept letters in our postal codes.) So, every attempt to set up the esim plan fails as it cannot approve the credit card without the zip code. You need to change that field to accept non-US postal codes so Canadians can use it to travel to USA..Version: 1.1

Not readyNot ready for Canadian postal yet. Only allows numeric characters even though it says postal code in the description of the header..Version: 1.1

Registration does not completeI tried to register for the service. Each time I try the app shuts down after I choose the preferred service.Version: 2.2

Disastrous set upUsed the app in the hopes of streamlined eSim set up ahead of my US trip. The first few steps went smoothly, I selected the plan and paid for it. After that, the app got super slow and unresponsive, the pages stopped loading - until, finally, the app automatically reloaded and took me to the starting screen. From that screen I cannot get back to the set up (the app doesn’t allow you past the starting screen if you enter an able easy used email). So I have no idea whether my set up got somehow completed in the background while the app was unresponsive or not. On their support page they advise to call a US number to resolve it, but you’d need to provide an order number - which might have been displayed on those pages I didn’t get to see, who knows. But it’s not available to me, that’s for sure. Utterly disappointed..Version: 2.3

Great idea, poor executionAt release day, I was able to buy a plan on my 3rd try. Now it’s just not working at all. Disappointing..Version: 1.2

Good service, UX needs a refreshOnce set-up, the eSIM service is great and is a great way to maintain connectivity in the US. That said the app UX is pretty poor - there’s no auto fill and switching to another app (I.e mobile banking to copy card details) causes the signup to reset and block the email you entered. There’s no way to manage existing sims or top them up again for another trip, but you can’t sign up with the same email so you’re a little stuck. I called T mobile to get the sim reactivated, but it was a pain as support is US based. So key asks - add Apple Pay and auto fill, add accounts and management of existing emails/sims, and stop blocking emails for new sims..Version: 2.2

ScamTHIS APP IS A SCAM. Reminder: it accepts US credit cards ONLY. I used a foreign card and got charged, but the eSIM never shown up on my iPhone, and, NO REFUND FOR THIS FAILED TRANSACTION..Version: 2.3

Allow existing prepaid customers to convert to eSimI was so excited to see this app in the store, but it seems like it’s not for existing prepaid customers to convert to eSim. Please make this functionality available..Version: 1.9.2

Doesnt want non american businessLiterally cant enter billing zip code as a Canadian.Version: 2.2

Half baked solutionSo when I first used the app I thought it was brilliant. You give your email. You choose a plan. You get the esim installed with no hassle. Really great. However as a visitor I left the states and now I’m heading back. You can’t reuse the app. You need to give an email, which they clearly remember but they won’t allow you to activate a new prepaid number or get your old one active again. When talking to support they need your T-Mobile account but the app doesn’t really helps you to create an account. So this really smooth and easy solution for travelers is really half baked. I would expect that the system (which again recognizes my email) locate your email or help you create an account and then allow you to get a new prepaid plan every time you travel..Version: 2.0

Instant CrashI went to activate my phone and the app instantly crashed after entering my email..Version: 2.2

MisleadingWhy does T-Mobile advertise this to tourists entering the USA? I download the app, put in my email, put in the Zip Code for which I will be staying predominantly. I select my plan. Then, I go to pay. I can change the country to Canada for the billing address. I can put in my province in Canada. The Zip Code is where it fails. You cannot put in a Canadian Postal Code. If they wanted an American Credit Card, then why even bother allowing us to change the country of residence???.Version: 2.2

Doesn’t work and support uselessUnable to activate and support staff don’t understand their own product! Go in to a store to activate an Esim!.Version: 1.2

Canada had Postal Codes not Zip CodesUnable to complete payment information section as when I entered my Country to Canada the options remained as State and Zip Code. Canadian provinces were listed in the drop down menu, but the Zip Code field remained. Canadian postal codes have letters and numbers, but the only input option is a numerical phone keypad (on iOS) Maybe the service is great once you get past the activation, but I’m at a roadblock that prevents me from purchasing a product from tMobile..Version: 2.2

Never gave me the option to install eSimI purchased a tourist plan using this app as I was traveling to the U.S. for vacation. The app skipped past the part where is sets up your eSim and gave me my receipt showing I was charged for the service and my new T-Mobile phone number. I contacted T-Mobile multiple times about getting a QR code emailed to me so I can setup my plan manually and keep getting assured that a supervisor will send me a code yet 1 week later and they still have not sent me anything. Friendly service but extremely poor execution at all levels..Version: 1.2

Impossible to use pre-paid with the same email addressThis app works well the first time a used it for a trip yo the US. The problem occurred when you want to use it again, it is not possible to reactivate your old account/ phone number or get a new one using the same email address. They ask you to create a new email address which is completely wrong and will become painful is you visit the US multiple times and need a phone number. Something has to be done to facilitate either the réactivation or the use of your email address..Version: 2.2

UnusableI tried to register but nothing, it doesn't work. From continuous error 500 or something similar..Version: 2.0

Mediocre UI and expensive ratesThe plans that T-Mobile offers could have been explained in a clearer way. Tax was not included so I ended up paying $45 for 10Gbs for one week of travel. Pretty steep..Version: 2.2

BuggyT Mobile need to test apps before they release..Version: 1.2

Many problems signing upIt took many, many, many attempts to get this app to work and activate an account on a iPhone 13 pro max and iOS 15. Once it does go through the service works fine..Version: 1.9.2

Doesn't workCan't even get past the enter email screen. Support hasn't responded in 3 weeks..Version: 1.2

Sign up process with UK address doesn’t workThe sign up form expects a numeric ZIP code, however UK Post Codes are alphanumeric and hence the credit card billing address fails when country is set to United Kingdom..Version: 2.3

Do not recommendMessy experience, shoddy platform, collectively spent over 3 hours with their prepaid service team to fix my issue, still unresolved. Do not recommend..Version: 2.2

App Keeps CrashingTrying to purchase a prepaid esim for when I’m travelling and the app crashes every time it gets to the “pick a plan” screen..Version: 2.2

Missing Data only plansThis isn’t helpful for dual e-sim devices. I get to the plan selection screen and the prepaid data plans aren’t listed. I don’t need another voice plan. It’s frustrating that T-Mobile makes it so hard to add a second data to a device..Version: 2.2

StupidThis app and eSIM is markets for traveller...great concept...if you capsule pay with a credit card linked to a postcode from anywhere but the US! People in store no help. Terrible..Version: 1.2

Unable to UseError 505-3033 on first step (entering email)..Version: 2.2

Can’t process Canadian Credit CardsI know someone here said everyone who gave a one star review had no imagination and all they had to do is give a US postal code near where they were staying to get an US based phone # and that would solve of the problem. Except of one big oversight. The app accepts Canadian address including selecting provinces from a menu. So the intention was to register Canadians. But it won’t allow a postal code with letters only numbers! Hence the credit card can’t be processed and an account cannot me made. Total waste of time. After 40 minutes on the phone with T-mobile I discovered that even through the phone. They can not process Canadian credit cards. So much for having my eSIM active when I land. T-Mobile get your act together!.Version: 2.2

DisappointingI downloaded this app to use my iPhone X with an e-SIM but it does not work when I enter my Canadian postal code. Major disappointment!.Version: 1.2

Help me pleaseI get an error page, so nothing but went I went on my bank account they already took my money. I try to contact them but because I don’t have a number I can’t Do you have any solutions ?.Version: 2.3

Can never get past the first screen: Bad GatewayApp just sits on the “Checking phone compatibility” screen and eventually times out showing a “Bad Gateway” error screen. Numerous attempts at different times, same issue. It’s as useful as a chocolate teapot.Version: 2.2

Error 505Tried a bunch of different approaches, but ultimately I always ended up with a 505 error. The phone number on the error screen recommended calling support, who in turn recommended “trying again.” I have tried again maybe six or seven times now with different combos of WiFi on/off, SIM card installed/removed - I give up. I’ll just stick to WiFi for the duration of my trip..Version: 1.9.2

App doesn’t work at allI tried activating an account from Canada but it wouldn’t let me past the first page of the app. I tried setting up an account manually over the phone but T-Mobile customer service couldn’t help me. This was an awful experience!.Version: 1.2

Disappointed! Can’t get past the zip code page..Version: 2.0

A very expensive offer for a throttled connectionPaid $64 for the top package that includes unlimited 5G and 10GB for hotspot at 5G speed. First the app is so awful, kept crashing and crashing and finally worked after 3 days of trying. Then the speed… You can get around 5 Mbps when you connected to their 5G UC (supposedly their fastest spectrum). If you’re on 5G then this dropped to 2/3 Mbps. Yes, these are their 5G speed and across 40 locations and 3 cities and at different times of the day (in case they want to put this on the congestion, again 5G is to avoid congestion…) NOT RECOMMENDED!!.Version: 2.2

No SupportI am travelling from Europe to the US for an extended holiday but this app or website does not allow non T-Mobile customers to contact them. I have tried various ways to get my couple of questions answered but not able to send a message or email to them so will have to delete this app as I can’t get it to work on my iPhone 11 Pro so will join another company..Version: 1.9.2

App stuck!!I have a phone which is compatible but the App is stuck on checking compatibility and then timeouts..Version: 2.2

Cannot Advance Past the 3rd PageI select which plan I want on the “Select a Prepaid plan” page, I tap “Next,” a loading animation plays, some terms pop up, I tap “Accept,” another loading animation plays, and the “Select a Prepaid plan” page appears again. Tapping “Next” starts that loop all over again. This app is functionally useless..Version: 2.0

ZERO Stars - Cheap plans are still missingDon’t even waste your time, as you can’t get the $15 unlimited talking and text with 2 GB., Rather typical, with hold the best deals to try to soak an Apple user. Thanks TMO... it seems like you’re definitely bringing the Sprint trash with you in the merger... so sad. Hello... T-mobile, this damages your brand and makes you look like greedy Verizon. (my review Last updated May 11, 2020).Version: 1.9.2
