✓ Why all the changes? I can’t play this game anymore.I have enjoyed this game for a long time, and I can deal with the ads for a free game. But the most recent update has almost ruined it for me! The aesthetic changes are a lot harder on my eyes: I feel like I strain a lot more trying to read it. I could be wrong, but I’m also fairly certain there used to be haptic feedback when entering numbers and such, and I really miss that too. It slows me down because I have to visually look every time to make sure the number took, whereas before I could feel it. Lastly, I really miss the possible number combos in the bottom corner of the screen. That was essential to playing on expert with any competitiveness. At this point, trying to do all the math in my head for a 5 or 6 cell box takes the fun out of it and makes the game take way longer than it should otherwise. Please make the haptics and the possible number combos an option in the settings! With all these changes, it’s not worth playing anymore. It’s not fun and it hurts my eyes..Version: 3.2.0

✓ Practically unplayableThis latest version is virtually unplayable. I’ve played this game daily for over 2 years and played over 2,000 games in that time. Recently, the game has become so laggy that it’s impossible to play. For example, you can press buttons and nothing happens. The notes on/off button in the worst for this - the button briefly flashes to show it’s been pressed, but the setting does change. Or you can highlight a cell, press a number, then move to highlight a new cell, but the game will process those actions in the wrong order - highlight first cell, highlight second cell, enter number, causing the number to go into the wrong cell. Overall, this has become an exceedingly frustrating playing experience..Version: 3.2.0
✓ Dumbing DownI used to to love playing the daily challenge, it was part of my daily ritual. Unfortunately the recent change to the difficulty of the Daily has made it no longer worth the effort to play. ✓ Used to be greatThis has by far been my favorite game to play for a while. While the game has always had adds they were typically before/after a game and offered as an option to get hints and 2nd chances. But as of today I’ve been getting multiple adds during a game which is extremely frustrating. It’s distracting and often confusing to remember where I left off before the pop up. Even though the adds are short it’s still enough to throw me off. I completely understand adds are needed to keep the game free but this has become excessive and it’s really unnecessary. Having the adds in the middle of a game completely ruins the user experience. It’s one thing to have a couple pop up but it’s almost every minute for me. I hope the developers will revert back to the original adds before and after games, otherwise I will have to say goodbye to this app. Even though I do enjoy it the games today have been frustrating..Version: 2.3.1
✓ What happened to the number combinations?The game no longer shows you the potential number combinations for each box when you tap on one of the cells. I can’t find any setting to bring it back. ✓ Poor updateI used to enjoy the daily challenge puzzles, they were nearly always “expert” level puzzles. Now there are far more “medium” and “hard” puzzles which are too simple. I will now give up on the daily challenge, because it isn’t a challenge any more. I have reduced my rating from five stars to three to reflect this. Added in response to the developer: My statistics show I have played over 100 expert games, and only 4 hard, no medium level puzzles and one easy one. I have been playing more “usual” games on the expert level, yet today my daily puzzle was a simple one. I’m not going to bother with the daily puzzle again, and may only now ‘dip in’ to the usual expert puzzles very occasionally. Such a shame, I liked getting my trophies..Version: 3.2.0
✓ Too Many Ads LatelyLike most of the other reviewers I completely understand the need for ads. When I first started using this app the ads weren’t that bad. There would be one in the middle of the game and one at the end. Which is fair. Now each game has three to watch if you want to finish the match. Now once again, I understand the need for ads. But this is a bit much. To go from one to three is makes it tedious. You’ve got to make your money, I get it, but that’s a bit much. Otherwise the game is decent enough. Other than the accidental hitting the wrong number it’s easy to play and navigate. One suggestion through, if a number is correct, don’t let the player enter another number by accident. It cost the player a mistake when they had it correct the first time and didn’t mean to enter a new number in that box..Version: 2.16.1

✓ Ads in the middle of a game !Until recently I would have rated this higher, but the game now has started showing adverts in the middle of a game instead of just when you needed another hint, or resuming a paused game. Incredibly frustrating when you work out a solution and just as you start to enter the answer an advert pops up ! Makes me lose my train of thought and have to start over. Who thought this was a good idea ? Edit : Four, yes FOUR, adverts in one game this morning. I see from other reviews you have been promising (for some time) to fix this but you have not. ✓ Terrific until new updateI used to love this app and play daily, but this new update is driving me insane. It stops gameplay every time a number is fully completed to display a little encouragement image then play an ad. I don’t mind the ads because it’s a free app and they usually don’t take longer than a couple second, but the pause for the unnecessary emoji is horrendously irritating. The change in number size also makes the game much harder to play along with the buttons like “notes” being made much smaller. Beyond that, the game consistently lags now when I try to type numbers in, now taking 4-10 seconds to complete actions that would’ve taken 2 seconds before, utterly destroying any attempt to beat previous time records and often causing me to mess up which numbers are inputted in which cells. I genuinely loved this game so much and felt like it was really improving my mental math, but this new update makes the game feel like it’s for 4-year-olds and I can’t stand playing anymore..Version: 3.1.0

✓ Used to be amazing, now just OKThis was, hands-down, the best sudoku app out there until recently. Now, the app insults you with patronising animations and slogans before launching super long adverts several times in the middle of games. I used to complete one or more every day without fail. Now, I’m barely on it once a week. I don’t object to adverts - we’ve all gotta earn a living somehow- but I do object, most strongly, to the patronising comments and childish animations which immediately precede every one. The apps I use daily have ads, but a) play them between games, they don’t interrupt games with them; and b) don’t insult their ysers before each advert. Please, developers, take note. ✓ Recent update unusableThis app was fantastic, but whatever they did in the latest update has made it almost unusable in my opinion- after (at a guess) ten minutes or so of use it slows down, gets very laggy and glitchy, and causes my phone to heat up. I think it actually slows the entire phone down when it’s open, as when it gets to this point it is difficult to completely close the app, and if I’m listening to anything at the same time the playback becomes super glitchy. It’s a shame - I really loved this app, but am now really regretting updating it. Until this issue is fixed, I do not recommend the app, and am having to look for other puzzle apps..Version: 2.8.0
✓ Over run by adsAnother app that has unfortunately been overrun by ads! Whilst I understand you can purchase an “ad free version” I’m not going to be doing that. I’ll be deleting the app. I didn’t mind the odd ad after solving the puzzle or before I start the puzzle as I understand that’s probably what funds the app to be free… but the last couple of days there has been several ads pop up mid puzzle. It’s very infuriating as this was the only app I was really using for quite a few weeks. ✓ Bit easy & lacking QoL features"Expert" difficulty is not actually that challenging. It's not easy, but it's nothing when placed next to the more difficult killer sudoku out there. For example, cages are very small (sometimes only a single number) and placed in convenient patterns. The other side of it is that the gameplay is missing some good QoL features. In particular, the ability to select multiple cells at once to write notes in, to select multiple cages and view their combined total, and to view and cross off the different combinations which a cage may hold. These features don't add anything which takes away from the skill, but they do make it require a lot less menial arithmetic!.Version: 2.6.0
✓ Huge Battery Drainer/Phone FreezerI’m a huge fan of Killer Sudoku and have really enjoyed this app until the most recent update. For one, I don’t mind ads, but multiple ads in the middle of the game really ruins the flow. One before and after the puzzle is totally fine, and I don’t understand why it can’t be that way. But that’s not even the biggest concern. Ever since I updated this app it has been draining my battery significantly, causing slow downs, and even multiple times froze my phone to the point where I literally could not even restart it the normal way. I don’t know what they did to make this simple app so taxing for my device, but I’ll probably use another app until the next update, and hopefully the problem will be fixed. ✓ AdvertsI loved this game when it first started playing, but adverts have been introduced every time a line or square is completed, meaning there are at least 10 adverts in every game and they are very long adverts. I have now uninstalled this game. I know there is an option to purchase without adverts, but it isn’t clear whether it’s a one off payment or a monthly payment. I notice there are a lot of people deleting this app because of the mid game advertisements. We all realise there has to be some advertising for the game to be free, but at this rate there won’t be anyone watching the adverts, so advertisers will want to go elsewhere. In most of your replies it has been stated that mid game adverts will be taken out in the future. When will the game be going back to adverts only before and after games again? ✓ Great app, I don’t like the new interfaceThis is an app I use every day to solve various puzzles a day. I enjoy the app so much that I paid for it. They have just released a new interface design that I don’t like. I use the app exclusively in an iPad, so my feedback is for the iPad version. The number pad is too big, and the numbers are too spread out that I can just use mi thumb to select the number (specially true for the numbers 1, 4, and 7). Also, the notes button used to be on top of the number 3, and now is the suggest button. I pressed the suggest button 3 times in a single game. I am not against of a small redesign, but these changes make the game not fun to play anymore, as I am always trying to beat my own time. Is so disappointing that I am writing a review. Also, I used to swipe my finger on top of the number pad to annotate the numbers on a cell (I know all the patterns for each two cell sum), and now it will just annotate the first number. I would have given 5 stars to the game, due to these issues I am downgrading it to 3 stars..Version: 3.1.0

✓ Recent update incredibly poorI’ve enjoyed this game for a long time, and even though the ads were annoying, I could put up with that. However the recent update cleared out my 1000 game streak, and changed the daily challenges from hard/expert down to easy/medium, making them unenjoyable and not challenging at all. There have been other changes made to the visuals and gameplay which also feel like a downgrade. ✓ Good game, shame about the adsI like this type of sudoku and had tried the usual version too, but in these apps the ads are SO INFURIATING! If you HAVE to have ads, DON’T put them in the middle of the game, and SO OFTEN! These games are timed for your best effort, the ads appear right in the middle of your train of thought over and over again!! You try to rush to finish your train of thought because of them, which causes you to make silly mistakes you wouldn’t usually do, and then you have to try and go back to where you started, that’s if the ad doesn’t cause the app to crash, which it sometimes does. ✓ Crash bad Freeze worseI had this game previously and played it a lot but it started freezing rather badly: the game stopped responding and just sat there blocking any use of the phone. When I tried to shut down the phone to get it off the screen either dimmed or brightened but didn’t clear the game until the battery of the phone drained down past one percent. It got to where I couldn’t play more than one game without this freezing occurring. I deleted the game and did without for about half a year but saw an ad and thought I would give it another try. Same song second verse, second verse same as the first. After the battery drained down and I got control of the phone again I deleted the game and have installed another sudoku game from another developer. My cell phone is my only phone and I can’t have it frozen like this. I am elderly and my health is not what it was. If I had an emergency I wouldn’t be able to call anyone for help while the battery is draining. Thanks for the fun of the game but no thanks for the bug. Bye..Version: 3.1.0
✓ Some mistakes.Great game, really gets my brain working, but I’ve just had two games in a row with mistakes (for example two squares which should add up to 9, one of these is 6 and so the other one should be 3 but this comes up as a mistake as there is already a 3 elsewhere in this row). ✓ Could be very good but….…there’s room for design improvement to make it easier to use. The main one is providing separate tool for pencil notes rather than having to constantly toggle the same tool between pen and pencil marks. It easily leads to errors due to the wrong mode of the tool. Also the pencil marks are very faint, again leading to accidental errors. Have a look at the design of killer sudoku on Puzzle Page, theirs is much more superior design..Version: 2.13.0

✓ Great game spoiled by unremovable advertsI have played this game for several months and it is an excellent implementation of Killer Sudoku. There’s a good range of skill levels, so you can pick and choose difficulty to suit yourself. I’ve had no problems with the game itself and although the advertisements are a distraction, they rarely last for too long and occasionally they are of interest. Unfortunately, I’ve recently had an advert for Jones Homes pop up which has no timer and no cancel button. There is no way to get rid of this advert without turning off my iPad. In my opinion, a piece of software that interrupts the app I’m using to the extent that I need to reboot my hardware, is malware. Please sort this out..Version: 2.3.1
✓ Used to be great but the ads are out of controlI loved this app and played everyday to relax, but the latest update brought an unwelcome feature - pop up ads that interrupt the game every 2 minutes. When a particularly difficult puzzle can take 20+ minutes to complete, it adds up to a lot of interruptions. I’m not one to complain about ads on a free app, particularly on one I enjoy (ed) so much. I was fine with banner ads, the ads between games, the ads when you switch back to the app etc. It’s a fair price for a good experience. But these ads negatively affect the gameplay. For example, they confuse and disorientate you while you’re trying to count, they’re difficult to close, and they make it impossible to get a good time when trying to beat your best. ✓ What has happened?I’ve been doing the Daily puzzle every day for a long long time. Now suddenly it is not worth doing. Out of the last 4 days the daily puzzle has been wrong and impossible to solve on 3 occasions. E.g today… I have a correct 5 in a 9 square…2 of the other numbers in the same square should total 9….one of those 2 numbers is a correct 4, therefore obviously the other should be 5…impossible as there is already a 5 in the 9 square. ✓ Keeps crashing & almost bricked my phoneI’d like to start off by saying I really love this app; I downloaded it after normal sudoku got too easy for me, and it’s been a fun way to challenge myself. However, a few weeks ago my phone started freezing while I was in the app, forcing me to restart it. It was a relative rare occurrence, at first, so I kept playing (there’s not much else for me to do right now in quarantine), but it’s grown more and more frequent until just now, when it crashed twice in ten minutes and the second time almost bricked my phone. (My phone made noises when I tried to restart it. It’s never done that before.) I’m deleting this app for now for the health of my phone, but I’d like to please beg the developers to fix whatever this is. I don’t know what causes it, as the crashes appear to be completely random. I have an iPhone XR, and both my phone software and the app are updated to the most recent update. ✓ Ad madnessWhy take a formula that works very well and is quite enjoyable, and then ruin it all with frequent mid-game advertisements? After solving a puzzle, totally fine. Mid-way through after a period of time has elapsed, okay, I just need to solve quicker. Now show an ad after solving an amount of numbers, this is getting ridiculous! ✓ This game used to be goodThey’ve updated the game where it doesn’t matter if you do expert level in everything, when you do the reoccurring challenges, they always give you easy ones where you can finished them way too easily. They also flooded the game with commercials… very annoying! If you play this game, make sure you are not on Wi-Fi so you don’t get commercials every 30sec. They use to have it set up with only one commercial per game but now it is like a plague in the game. There are other sudoku apps that are better than this one. Their last update simply killed this game. A simple fix would be to reduce the adds and add difficulty level choices. Also, their customer service is questionable. When I asked why I’m stuck with easy levels all the time, they replied to me it was because it was the level I was playing other challenges in the game which is an absolute lie. ✓ Game ruined by recent increase in adsAs many other recent reviewers have stated, there has been a ridiculous increase in the number of ads shown while playing. I understand that ads bring in revenue and are needed to support developers, but it’s been way too much recently. They started showing ads in the middle of the game once you fill in all of a number (it used to be at the end of every game, which was completely reasonable for a free game). A game I just played showed me 5 ads in the span of 20 minutes. These ads interrupt the music or podcasts that I’m listening to and just ruin the experience that used to be so relaxing. The actual gameplay of this app is great and I would update my review to 5 stars if they set the frequency of the ads back to only at the end/start of games. ✓ WAS a great appI thoroughly enjoyed this up until the latest update. I played every single day unless real life precluded it. Since the last update, I have not seen a single daily puzzle harder than a medium. This means a maximum of 4 minutes of my time. So naturally I decided that the new “event” must contain the challenging puzzles. My mistake, after 19 puzzles (of 50), not a single puzzle beyond medium. This includes several easy after a medium, so it is not as if the levels get harder! At this point, I am not sure I will play the game on a regular basis; maybe if I have finished all other games I like and maybe then I will only choose a challenging puzzle not the daily “challenge” which is not a challenge. I may keep the app because my 4th grade grandson is learning to enjoy Sudoku and he MIGHT like some easy to complete! ✓ Mid-puzzle ads SO annoying!I used to love this game, and accepted the ads before and after the puzzle as part of playing for free. However, now the puzzle will freeze mid-game and play yet another ad, and it has completely ruined the game. If you’re in the middle of a challenging puzzle, with your mind concentrating on the logic of numbers, you do not want your thoughts interrupted by a pointless ad. I now shut my eyes if the ad comes on, to maintain my thoughts, so the ad is a complete waste of my time and the advertiser’s money. Please stop this infuriating practice. The developers have pointed out that I could pay to stop all ads, but I simply can’t pay £4.49 - it’s difficult enough for me to pay for food and fuel. I don’t mind ads before or after games (in other games I happily watch ads for free lives or whatever), it is simply the intrusive ones DURING the game I object to. ✓ Downgraded from goodThis was a solid game, I spent hours playing game after game. For some reason, the developer seems to repeatedly pull out features. When I messaged them in the app to ask what the go was, they said “for better app performance”. This is pretty basic app & it definitely wasn’t suffering from app performance. ✓ I used to love this game but…Update, i received a reply from the developer who assured me that the ads would not interfere with the game experience. So, today, i did one puzzle taking 3 minutes and 21 seconds to complete. During that time, i was interrupted by THREE ads. Three in a little over 3 minutes. What more can I say? I have been playing this game for months and I really enjoy it. However, the latest update has multiple ads while you are in the middle of a game. I don’t mind ads between games but not 3 or 4 in the 5 minutes it takes me to complete the puzzle. Also many of the ads do not allow you to X out after the ad plays. So I have to exit the game and come back. It’s just getting to be too much of a hassle. Yes, I know I could pay $4.99 for no ads but that’s more than the game is worth. Some ads literally lock up the iPad for a minute - nothing can free it up until the game somehow crashes. There is also an issue with some ads overlaying the number pad. Rotating the device back and forward sometimes fixes it but it can also lock up the device. Give me a mildly interesting ad at the beginning or end of a game. Devoting part of the screen to a banner ad mid game is ok but to then interrrupt the game, sometimes several times, with the same mindless, buggy ads, is just too much. ✓ Well, it used to be fun! I’ve played this app for well over a year, and love the challenge.However the last update seemed to add some problems! First, they found a way to force you to watch even MORE ads be adding them into the middle of each game. You complete some numbers and are forced to watch an ad. Frustrating! And not sure if watching the ad adds to the time it tracks to solve the puzzle. Second, and a more serious issue, playing this game causes some serious drain on my phone battery and processing. My phone sometimes s l o w s down noticeably and the battery will heat up - so there is some serious processing going on in the background that is causing this! And I’ve tried ONLY having this app open, nothing else, and still have this issue, so it is definitely this game that causes it. It is so bad that on 3 recent occasions my phone has just locked up and I had to shut it down and reboot. One of those times I had to Google how to force a reboot because it would not shut down! ✓ Freezes iPadI’ve been playing this game for 3 years and felt that it was a 5 star game until a month ago. I upgraded to an iPad 10 and now when I launch the game it freezes the iPad completely. I have to do a hard reboot just to get the iPad to turn on again. Coincidentally whenever it freezes it, it also changes all of the settings I have saved on my timers. It is very annoying. And when the developer reaches out to me to solve my issue, I followed their instructions and after doing what they said, the chat thread has now disappeared. On the regular Sodoku, at least there are numbers provided in some squares at the beginning and you can figure out the solution from the beginning!! On Killer Sodoku, you need to be a member of MENSA to figure out these solutions because NO SQUARES ARE FILLED AND THE SOLUTIONS ARE RIDICULOUSLY HARD TO FIGURE OUT!! Needs a major improvement in this regard!! BUTI really enjoyed this game for a few weeks, loved the extra challenges being helped by simple math problems.... but why on earth do you present completely empty play grids - with no numbers provided at all? In these, there is little opportunity to use one’s brain entirely: there is no alternative but to ask for a clue and with that comes an advertisement of 30 or so seconds! On a completely empty starting grid one could easily spend 15 or more minutes waiting for a few numbers to be inserted! (From which one is eventually able to calculate/work out the logic of the rest of the grid.) What is more, all too often one is shown the exact same advert several times in succession. There’s very little more likely than these constant repetitions of adverts to put me off buying a product for ever!!! Killer Sudoku is potentially a great game and challenges oneself to improve times..... this is spoilt by completely empty grids at the start. ✓ Great app, terrible adsI love this app, it’s by far my favorite interface for killer sudoku games, but it keeps showing me really offensive weight loss ads in the middle of my game and often does not give me an option to close them or mark them as something I don’t want to see. I’m taking like close up video of someone’s belly jiggling and gigantic letters calling the person fat. They haven’t always shown these types of ads, but now that they do I have been playing the game much less just to avoid them. It’s frustrating that the only way they allow me to not look at these really offensive, hurtful ads is to pay them to go ad free. ✓ Good game, needs some adjustmentsI love this game, play it every day. Have recommended this game to multiple friends. The ads can be annoying if you tend to pause the games a lot, but I don’t tend to do that so the ads don’t bother me much. I only tend to get ads in the middle of the game when I’m playing hard or expert levels. The thing that’s really bothered me recently though is that I’ve been getting expert level difficulties for the past month straight for the daily challenges. Yes, I like a challenge, but it’s gotten ridiculous. I don’t know if it has a bug in it or something, but getting the same level difficulty every day isn’t fun, especially when it’s in the realm of being too hard for me. After a day at work especially, I just don’t have the brain power for that level of difficulty. ✓ New design changesI really love this game and have been playing it for quite some time now, I generally have no complaints and love playing this game especially when I don’t have service. However this last week I noticed some things had been changed. I didn’t really mind any of the changes except for one. I’m a big fan of the expert stages, but I always use the notes Function on every box. However since these changes I’ve noticed that you can no longer drag your finger over the note numbers to put them in a box, instead you have to tap each number individually which can be quite tedious and really brings up the time it takes to beat a stage. This was upsetting to me because I realized I will probably never get a new high score. ✓ Just switched appsBelow is a review I wrote a couple of weeks ago. After seeing developer comments about removing the mid-game ads, I stuck with it a while longer. They haven’t kept that promise, so I’m done. There are plenty of other Killer Sudoku apps, and I’m switching to a new one. This has been one of my daily go-to games for some time. As a game it probably deserves four stars - it generally plays well, but the keyboard interface for numbers, notes, and hints is clumsy and I, at least, wind up taking hints when I’m trying to do notes and so on. It’s a relatively minor irritation but enough to cost a star. Recently, though, they’ve added ads in the middle of a game. For a timed game with the level of concentration demanded by killer sudoku, this is completely unacceptable, and it’s not like there aren’t other killer sudoku apps out there. That immediately takes the app down to one star. If they want to run an ad before the game that’s one thing, and all part of the story. ✓ Disappointing update!Have loved playing this game daily (often several games a day) for the past 3.5 years, so it’s clearly got a lot going for it. But the update that has just been sprung on us makes it far less enjoyable to play, mainly because: (a) I can no longer select number ranges in notes mode by swiping, which makes games much more tedious, and (b) 3-by-3 squares are no longer highlighted with the cells they contain, only rows and columns. One star off for each. The changes in appearance do at first make it feel a little odd, but I think legibility has increased, which is good, so a star back for that. But you’ve lost a star at least for your privacy policy, which may or may not have changed with this version, but makes it unlikely that I’ll play this game much once I manage to wean myself off it (something that will be easier thanks to the usability drop-off)..Version: 3.1.0

I understand ads help you to make money to keep it free but it’s sudoku not a high tech action game…seriously there can not be a high enough expense to have ads play 3-5 times from start to finish of one game of sudoku... I’ve played call of duty free on my phone and had zero ads and other high animation games that only play one ad after each round (which is fine). You guys need to reevaluate your ads placements…seriously. It was my constant go to game, but all these ads recently have really made it a lot less fun.
