✓ Missing design elementsI loved Fish Tycoon and the other games surrounding the island of Isola. This one falls super short though. Thought it would be really fun to mix up plants and find the magic ones but there isn’t enough information on each screen to do this. You get the plant names on the main screen but not in the seed tray. Nor do they show you the names so you know which plants made a particular seed - just the images. So unless you’re writing down or remembering what the seeds and plants all look like there’s no way to keep it all straight! The main and seed screens need to show the image, the plant names, and what you’ve crossed to make the seed. All at the same time. OH and no way to earn bucks! You must buy them. So the only way to get a lot of the supplies and extras is to pay money. Disappointing..Version: 1.1.4
✓ Slow pacedThis game is very slow paced even on it's fastest setting and once you get into the game, it becomes obvious there is no way to advance without paying real world money. A waste of time even to get started..Version: 1.1.3
✓ Needs some work!!When I am using one of the tools (watering can, soil, etc.) the item is actually half an inch above where my finger is on the screen. This makes it extremely hard to catch insects. ✓ I’m sryI’m so sorry to say this but by the time I found out I need real money to win the game, I deleted it. Because I was so shocked to see the real important items needed to be paid. I mean the decorations and stuffs are okay without being bought. But the soil? It is so sad when this game played as a favorite role in my childhood and I spent almost everyday as a kid to see these beautiful plants grow. The background music is such a nostalgia. ✓ Great game, but....I love this game and I used to play the PC version a lot. I just really wish they would change the whole plant bucks thing. There is no way to advance in the game without spending a lot of real life money. And you can only ever get some of the rare plants by buying rare seeds ( which cost plant bucks). ✓ In app purchases ruined the gameIt is bad enough that you have to buy games twice - for PC and for IPad. But for this game, you can earn all the dollars you want, you still have to buy plant bucks for certain upgrades...really to complete the game. And they are expensive. What a ripoff!!! Even worse, I played the game through once, spent about $20 on upgrades and am trying to play it again...the upgrades are all gone. You'll note the positive reviews are for people who play it on PC, where there are no up sells, or are writing about playing to years ago. Yes, I used to love the game on PC. UPDATEI heard from the web developer for IPad about the outrageous greed of,requiring upgrades just to play through the game...upgrades which must be repurchased every time you play the game. Received back an arrogant email that I could get all the seeds without upgrades. I KNOW that!. But you can not buy seed boxes, many supplies, many nursery upgrades just by breeding and selling plants as you did on the PC Game. You have to purchase plant bucks via In app,purchase. A total rip off. You NEED seed boxes to have room to breed plants. ✓ Terribly dissatisfiedI used to love playing this game on my computer back in the day. I was so excited to see that it was in the App Store about a year or so back. I ended up deleting the game as there was no way to progress. Fast forward to today, I re-loaded it back to my iPhone thinking they would of updated it. I was very disappointed to see that things haven’t changed. Also seeing that all the reviews have been saying the same thing for 10+ years now and no change isn’t very good from a business point of view. I love their games. I grew up playing Virtual Villagers, Plant Tycoon and Fish Tycoon. So far this is the only one to sincerely disappoint my memory as I can’t play the game fully anymore. The nostalgia is gone. :( The only way for me to change my review from a 1 star to a 5 star is to listen to your reviews and update how we can play this game as there is no possible way to move forward without paying quite of bit of money out of pocket. ✓ If looking for plant bucks, read below.I loved this game, and played it often. I got to a point in the game where you had to have "plant bucks" to complete the game. I searched and searched trying to figure out how to get them. I finally found out you have to buy them with real money! I looked on the app everywhere trying to at least discover how much they would cost me. After some more digging, I saw that the creators of this game removed plant bucks!!! ✓ Not really free.If you don't invest in in-app purchases, you cannot advance past beginner levels. This is a sly way of making a 5$ game appear free. At least with the light/paid apps, you know how much money it will cost to complete the game. This isn't one of those games like bakery story where you can pay to upgrade but could complete the game without. ✓ Sell your kidneys for plant bucks!Great concept, poor execution. Yet another free game that secretly wants hundreds of pounds from you. Plus the graphics/game play is pretty rudimentary. I just like plants. They are my friends. They talk to me. ✓ Great concept horrible executionI LOVE the idea of a great gardening games where I can create hybrids. This app is NOT that. Play even on fast is too slow. Nursery sales function only works when your on that screen. Play without purchase of "Plant Bucks" is almost impossible. Sorting your seeds is nearly impossible. Surprisingly, there wasnt any and it was very difficult to see which plants were infested or needed pruning. tools and supplies dont automatically go back to their original position after you lift your finger off the screen. ✓ Only half the game it wasThis game was designed for a PC, and quite successfully. For some odd reason, watching fake plants grow is really addictive. Anyway, if this game was ported to the iPhone as is I'd probably give it 4 stars instead of 5 because a lot of the controls are awkward on such a small screen. Unfortunately, the company made the critical mistake of butchering half the game by forcing players to purchase items to progress. The most successful in app purchase games are those in which players make purchases because they want to, not because they're forced to (e.g. Puzzles & Dragons). I gladly would have paid $5 for this app for unlimited game play, like I did with the PC version; but trying to Frankenstein a frustrating IAP system into a game that was designed for a PC is a deal breaker for me. ✓ Pay To Play Disguised As Free?I played this game back when it was available on pocket pc. So you can imagine how excited I was to discover this game from my childhood. It plays great and brings me back but I don’t think I can play it any longer. Some plants won’t last long enough to do anything with even with the 2nd tier (of 3) soil. The only way to remedy this is either buy loads of health restoratives or use real money to buy the top soil. I’m not sure if building up a massive amount of money and going the health route is the intended design. And there isn’t a way to earn the in game currency to buy the top tier soil. So then it appears as if it is a pay to play game. Which is fine, it’s free. ✓ DeletingI loved this game on the pc. Was delighted to find it for the iPhone. But like the other reviewers say, you DO get to a certain point, then to progress you absolutely have to buy plant bucks. My plants keep dying before they are mature. To solve this I would need the golden soil, which is plant bucks. I'll never be able to complete this since I refuse to pay real money just to get anywhere, and paying real money is literally the only option to get plant bucks. Like everyone else I would much rather have paid a flat sum for the game in its entirety, rather than be forced to pay for something that doesn't even last if and when you start over. Deleting from my phone now since I have hit the pay wall. Real shame guys. The concept is cute, but as someone else wrote, there is no way of progressing to the interesting stuff without buying 'plant bucks'. ✓ Do not get!I was not happy about bucks when I first downloaded the game however I did not reach the point that many others speak about where you must pay to continue before deleting. I was unable to figure out how to prune and when I did manage to make a cut I cut the plant at the root thus ruining the plant. The instructions were useless and clearly designed for the computer version. I was unable to put soil in only certain pots and although this is trivial I like having empty pots. Have 2-3 thousand coins before breeding to get the rare magic plants. You will need to check on the plants every 10-20 minutes and put the rescue plant formula on them, so they don’t die. ✓ Don't use the iPad versionThis is a wonderful little game - addictive and fun while being relaxing in its own way. However there are two problems, one of which is unique to the iPad version: 1. The writers have moved on. Last update was a few years ago so don't expect any upgrades. 2. The versions on Mac and PC are completely free - no in-app purchases. Yes, you can complete the game on iPad (just) without paying money because the aim of the game is to find six magic plants that all exist in the easy part of what's breedable.
