✓ Fantastic!( found no bugs so far in this game, works fine) Best ONLY to play on ipad. This a fantastic version of BG2, with a lot of extra content and characters that are worth buying . it's not a easy game, and it will plenty of times that you will be frustrated by it, and have to retry battles again, as you do have to try out diffrent methods of fighting with your characters, but it's worth it!! It suites the ipad4 as the touch control is spot on ( it can be difficult to enter buildings or to pick up items, but you have to practice, and then you get used to it) . The "bug" of the werewolves attacking the party is passable, you just have to run out the tent casting spells! ( you don't have to go into the tent in the first place) If you have BG2 on the pc already, as I have, it's well worth the cost and the 2gig space, there is just so much to do and re-do. Forget the pretenders to this game of thrones....this is the King!.Version: 1.2

✓ WonderfulMany years ago I purchased this for my computer used for $5. My ex was beside herself upset because I’d never even played the first Baldurs Gate. I played the heck outta that game. I was so excited to see this ported over to iOS I gladly bought it several years ago and played the heck outta it again. Just as beautiful with all the wonderful effects, compelling story, and challenge. If this is your first ride, hold on. ✓ Reputation randomly droppingI’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate games since I was eight and haven’t had any problems until now. I have never modded games and only have the defence of the wild expansion. My party’s reputation has been randomly dropping by 2-3points. First it dropped by 2 then I raised it 1 by doing the circus quest then it dropped 3. This is very annoying because I’m doing a neutral good party and my cavalier is now fallen and if it drops anymore I’m gonna start losing members Like keldorn and my romance with jaheira is know buggered. Support is pretty useless and stuff is so expensive even with the 22 charisma ( nymph cloak/blade of roses)..Version: 2.5.16

✓ WowOver 30 hours logged of gameplay so far and I still am only on chapter 2. The DLC adds freshness to an already great game. The game feels as fresh now as it did back on my PC back in 1998!! ✓ Best RPG with replay-abilityFirst played this game around 20 years ago and have played it again and again since then. Sometimes with years break and still there is more to try. I haven’t completed the the final instalment because I constantly restart with new characters and try new strategies or stories. Not because they don’t work but for fun. Great QoL fixes like ammo stacks in containers 10/10 update, I couldn't be happier. But the biggest part of the update that I had no idea was coming, the one thing that blew my mind and completely caught me off guard... the ability to customize my characters color sets to any of them including the unique ones. ✓ A great RPG that everyone should play (granted that they have free time)Just bought this game after being on an RPG crave with a need for a deep combat system, story, and characters. This game is all that and more, seriously I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the game and I’ve already spent hours on mere side quests. My only qualms is that trying to get to the description of items while in the character menu is a tad frustrating and that sometimes trying to get downstairs, open doors, walk into rooms through said doors, tapping on ?’s sometimes just makes your party go there and not activate the function. If pressure touch was put into the game to allow easier access to description/use menus for items that would be perfect. Other than those things I am enjoying this game thoroughly..Version: 2.4.71

✓ Game breaking bugThis is a great rpg. The gameplay and top down view are similar to dragon age, so too is the ability to pursue a romance. Baldurs gate 2 has numerous side quests, expansive customer creation (including what appears to be approximately 50 different classes), a morality counter, the ability to own a stronghold (house) as well as a unique and creative style. This can be clearly seen in various parts of the game (including the demon realm). For all these reasons and more I recommend purchasing this great game..Version: 1.2

Not perfect, but considering I play it on an iPad Air, the commands and user controls are the best they can be considering. An unforgivable bug through: come on guys. ✓ Glad for the 64 bit update!!I am able to play this on iOS 11 on an iPad Pro and the extra screen space is very nice!! There are a few bugs here and there, but nothing major. That said I have had a few NPCs spawn all over the place and in small to large numbers. The head Priest of Helm was everywhere and I killed a couple because I was sick of looking at 15 of the one and only High Priest of Helm and now all of Helm is against me if I walk in their temple!!!!! No quest for the ore you need to augment the mace of disruption because of that. I’ve also had the Master of Combat from Rasaad’s quest, and Pheasants appear everywhere and anywhere. No major flaws with the update so far. I’m about to end Shadow of Amn, but finishing up Watcher’s Keep first..Version: 2.4.71

When your player and the rest of your groups characters hit level 11 they start getting only 1 hp each time they level up. This is a real problem for your “tanks.” By the time you get to Firkrag the dragon your melee fighters don’t have enough hit points to win the battle. ✓ One of the best RPGs ever!I played the original BG series to TOB series on PC many years back and to this day this still is my favorite RPG. I was excited to see the mobile port as well as the SOD and wanted to try taking a character through all 3 games. Still the best RPG experience imo. Great port. I played the entire series on an iPhone 8plus. Screen size is fine and very playable once you increase the font size. The only 3 suggestions I have to make this even better 1. Make some connection to the characters relationship between SOD and BG2. For example, make a quest in BG2 to recover the soul taker dagger to prove your innocence or have people like Viconia or Neera acknowledge the SOD events. 2. I’d like to see Corwin added to BG2. 3. There are some events like Dorn’s TOB quest where half the party loads off screen and can’t be accessed. Minor bug, pocket plane back and forth fixes it..Version: 2.5.16

✓ Not a casual game. Worth every penny. Play for years.If you are reading this having never heard of this game, know that it is considered by many to be the best RPG of all time. Like, in the realm that Dark Side of the Moon and Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is to rock albums. It is deep, challenging and complex, and it invented the concept of "your actions determine the ending" and "non-player characters have feelings too" seen on so many games today. It was this game that made Bioware into a serious game developer. (Dragon Age was made to be the "spiritual successor" of this game.) It originally came out in the late nineties, which may make you think it's too old to be good. It does have some old schoolness, and there has been a lot of innovations since. But the Mona Lisa is from the renaissance. Is it too old to be good? If you want a game that has meat and will give you years of fun, don't pass on the Mona Lisa. ✓ Bug, yes, but with this game you can work aroundThe Aerie/circus bug does exist, but it is testament to the sheer brilliance of this game that you can work around what would be a game killer for any other game. Three dispel magic spells, carefully placed, and bug sidestepped. This has always been the glory of BG2 - you can work out some superb ways to defeat something which looks at first blush to be unbeatable. This is a spectacular game - and as with all spectacular games, don't expect it to be gifted to you - you gotta work to beat this one ! :-).Version: 1.2

✓ Classic game, horribly buggy multiplayerThis is a classic RPG, one of the best of the old school (though, like all Black Isle RPGs, can be unfairly hard or unbalanced at times). Still, great interface, good story and a classic. Updating my review to remove the complaints about the multiplayer experience - it’s MUCH more stable now, disconnects are very rare and usually involve one of the players task switching or using the control panel for more than a moment. Still leaving off 1 star for some minor UI annoyances and some leftover frustrating elements of the original game design (enemies that require extremely specific counters, for example), not something Beamdog would be expected to “fix”. Overall, a fantastic updated version of a classic game, highly recommended!.Version: 2.5.16
✓ BugMy favorite game of all time. So glad to run through it again. I noticed what I think might be a bug. In ToB I am running a mage/thief. I have boots of haste which make me run fast. I just finished the flail of the ages and when I equip it my character slows down; as though I’m no longer wearing the boots. When I unequip the flail of ages I am back to normal speed. ✓ One of the all time great gamesUpdated for V2.5 I gave this another play through with a newer device and an updated version. I think there were a 2 crashes but overall it was excellent! Back up to 5 stars! Updated for V2.4.71 My previous glowing review holds up but I reduced a star because the recent update has caused changes. The game has a new interface which looks pretty good and the character resolutions have been increased. The downside is I have found the game to crash fairly often which is extremely frustrating. The game also seems to run slower which is also disappointing. If the crashing is fixed with subsequent update it is a 5 Star game This game is simply excellent. It has a huge world, deep combat, a good story and memorable characters. I played the old PC version several times through and I enjoy the enhanced content. The game really needed more neutral and evil characters because there was no choices to make an evil party. The two new evil characters flesh it out nicely. Another neutral character is nice for variety and a monk is cool because I like monks and female characters needed a romance option that wasn't condescending. I completely recommend this title IF: you have an iPad (the phone is just too small); you are willing to take some time to learn the game mechanics (it can take a bit to get going); you can accept a RPG where some choices are "wrong" ones (you can be evil but there will be consequences).Version: 2.5.16

I have purchased this game many many times over over the years, and this was no disappointment... save ONE annoying bug and of course, the ridiculously small and hard to read text/user interface/icons The bug. It’s multiplayer only. Create a party of more than one and watch from the beginning that your ‘party leader’ (in the top position on the right side of the screen) comes in 4th position when moving your party with all members selected. It follows all the different selectable party orientations and is VERY annoying. Your party leader in the 1st position on the left should always be the FIRST in line when moving your party around. But alas, this is the issue. To have a workaround, you have to put your party order on the right side to have the one you want in ‘front’ to be in the 4th position to have him actually be in ‘front’... but then he isn’t your party leader anymore I hope they patch this. I love this game. Even though I have to hold it inches from my face to pick out one red coloured spell icon from the next, let alone dare an attempt to READ a journal entry Recommended? Absolutely! ✓ Best iOS game I've playedThis is easily the best game I’ve played on iOS. This series is new to me, as I never played on PC. To new players: 1) This is a fairly complex and time-consuming game. 2) I recommend playing BG1 first, as it was too overwhelming for me starting with BG2. BG1 is simpler and has a nice tutorial for new players, which BG2 doesn’t have. (On the downside, BG1 maps tend to have a lot of “empty” space in their outdoor maps, so using online maps with BG1 are nice in order to see where the interesting points are.) The most frustrating part of this game is the spell system, as there are so many spells to potentially learn and understand. BUT, you really can delve as much or as little into it as you want, as using a fighter heavy groups is totally viable (the Inquisitor and Berserker classes can help in certain ways here), and you can always adjust the difficult setting as easy or as hard as you want at any time. So, if you want a top-quality Role Playing Game and don’t mind some complexity and putting in a little time, I expect you’ll have a great experience playing Baulder’s Gate..Version: 2.4.71

✓ Best Sequel on IOSJust as Baldur’s Gate 1 EE is amazing in every right then so is the sequel. The original BG2 expanded on the first and was critically considered much improved then so is the EE. The Black Pits II returns as a unique campaign that lets you test high level characters but this version has a much more involved story which is pretty interesting. There are quests with multiple ways to approach, a unique antagonist and colorful bunch of characters. Really very involved and a great surprise. Really stellar stuff was the original game so this is now ‘Improved really stellar stuff’. Without a doubt the best version to play and great compatibility with phones that doesn’t suffer the curse of low effort IOS ports. Must have for any RPG fan..Version: 2.5.16
✓ Even better than i rememberThe graphics are admittedly dated, however after a short time you wont notice. The writing and gameplay of BG2 easily exceeds a many of newer games. Battles are extremely tactical, and your choice of actions , spells and characters strongly affects your success. My only criticism is that the touch controls can be a little awkward on occasion, and there are some minor bugs, but this is easily forgiven. You will need to download the manual if you are new to BG, which is available on the publishers website..Version: 1.2

There are a couple of minor bugs (nothing game breaking, though don't click on Boo!), and you need to make sure you save before minimising, but OMG, it's the best RPG ever, and it's on iPad! In terms of DLC: yes, there are in-app purchases. It's $12 for everything, not an indefinite amount of micro transactions. This allows people who want to play the original to do so without the new characters; it also allows people to buy the game for $15 and not $25. In terms of gameplay: it is stable for as long as you don't switch apps on an iPad air, and it runs as smoothly as silk. I assume most people reading this know how awesome the game is, so I don't need to mention 200 hours and more of gameplay, and some of the deepest npc's written for an RPG? There are improvements that can be made. The dialogue us sometimes difficult to select - if the developers could implement something similar to KOTOR's system, that would help. It's also quite difficult to buy or sell stacks of items at once - improving the double click would help, here. But these are minor issues, and the game is great. Hope this review is helpful to someone. I would strongly recommend this game if you like true role playing games :-).Version: 1.2

✓ Buy it - This is one of the greatest games ever madeIf you’ve stumbled upon this game at random, without having played the PC version when it came out long ago, you’re in for a treat. This is not just some random indie game developed for iOS. In fact, you’ve stumbled upon what is widely regarded as one of the greatest, if not the greatest,computer RPGs of all time. It came out originally in the early 2000s, but is still ranked as one of the best of all time on Metacritic. Even with its dated graphics it holds up to the likes of Skyrim, etc., with ease. The game is complex, rich, and colorful. And for a first-time player it will be quite challenging, which is a good thing. If you can get past the somewhat dated graphics, you will be addicted. And frankly, even though the graphics are somewhat dated, they still provide a strong overall aesthetic that in my opinion provides players with a much greater impression of them places the graphics represent than MANY games with far more advanced and modern graphical engines. Many new games just don’t give you the vibe. So don’t let that stop you from diving in. Enjoy..Version: 2.5.16
✓ So much nostalgia.Beamdog has yet again done a terrific job in porting this classic game from PC to iPad. There are a few minor issues with touch control response (for example, after loading a quick save I had trouble targeting the shadow dragon before zooming in a bit) but the game otherwise feels like it could have been made for tablets in the first place. I've wanted to get back into these games for years and now Beamdog had given me the opportunity. Thanks guys. 2017 update: new additions from patches have been mostly welcome. The character outlines took some getting used to, but they ultimately made the sprites look much cleaner and more defined against the game’s beautiful backgrounds. The ability to create an entire party outside of single player is also welcome. One problem I have is with certain balance changes, especially regarding the Cleric/Ranger losing Druid spells past 3rd level. I know that technically in PnP it’s supposed to be this way, but the old way made a C/R a more spell-oriented alternative to a Fighter/Cleric. Now there’s almost no reason to play a C/R over a F/C unless you really like stealth and a racial enemy... but grandmastery and faster level progression tops that in my books, plus the ability to dual-class from Berserker. I respect that the developers have attempted to bring some balance to the game, but I think they could go further. Certain kits like Shapeshifter, Beast Master and Wizard Slayer are still so much worse than the alternatives that you would only pick one for novelty reasons which is a real shame. As a last note, I’ve decided that I’m not a huge fan of some of the writing surrounding the new NPCs. The characters are fine, but the stories surrounding them come off more like fan fiction than anything. And the dialogue choices you get don’t fit with the rest of the game thematically... most of them boil down to yes, no(t right now), or a sarcastic over-the-top yes. The humour in the base game was more nuanced (Minsc aside) and these dialogue options are so silly that they’re almost immersion-breaking. In any case, it’s a modernized BG2. An absolute steal for the price, Baldur's Gate 2 remains the finest example of RPG gameplay and strong, fantasy narrative. This was the pinnacle of Black Isle's collective career and Beam Dog have more assuredly stepped forward to add content in as much the same vein as possible. Game writing does not come finer and gameplay is not more technical or more satisfying. Take the time to read and learn and put aside that desire for instant gratification.
