Icewind Dale for Positive User Reviews

64 Bit readyAwesome Job DOG thanks!!!.Version: 2.4.71

Enjoyed an old game againI have not had any technical or other issues I see in some reviews. What I like most about this game is that it is one of the only games I can find that you can roll and design a multi character party. 6 characters of various classes. Nearly every game on IOS like this is one character only….i much prefer having my own characters making up a large party. Game is actually 3 “modules” in one. There are 2 larger adventures and one shorter one. Love everything about it..Version: 2.5.17

Few fixes.Bit disappointed in the videos as it looks grainy and bit dated. The naming on the iPad shift the screen so you can't see what you are typing in but apart from that and the sleep videos, again new ones could have been made. The game mind you is as enjoyable as it was the first time I played it. Have not reached the new content so looking forward to that..Version: 1.3.2058

ExcellentI love full sized games on my tablet.Version: 1.3.2058

Beyond excellent! This game is huge! Tons of places to explore, thousands of things to do. It's a solid AD&D game! It should have a manual though. Lots of it would be made easier with a nice manual, or even a lousy one. I've had no problems finding quests, shops, or dungeons to explore. I have had problems with storage objects. For example the container storing arrows and bolts. You can pack hundreds of arrows in there but can only remove them one at a time..Version: 1.3.2058

Delete unwanted charactersThe one issue I have with the game I cannot delete unwanted characters on iPad..Version: 2.5.17

Another enhanced classic RPGAn excellent port of an excellent game. It's an isometric RPG like Baldur's Gate, except it puts more emphasis on being a pure dungeon crawler. Most of the emphasis on story and character building that made BG2 such a rich experience is absent here, but don't let that deter you. If you just wanna grab an axe and some magic missiles & beat up on some orcs and giants, this game is a blast. Icewind Dale is now even better due to numerous graphical touch ups. The controls almost seem like they were made for a touch interface. You have many more options when composing your group (than you did in the original IWD) as the kits from the enhanced BG2 remake have been ported over. There have been many great ease-of-use tweaks which have been added into the game, such as the quick loot feature. Beam dog is getting better & better at these remakes. Bring on Planescape, guys. ...why are you still reading this? Get the game! :).Version: 1.3.2058

AwesomeRead the platform info. This is for iPhone 5 and above. Best played on an iPad for sure but still amazing they could get this to look and play great on this small a screen. You don't get that many great RPGs for iPhone so this a must have. Classic ISO-RPG. More depth, character building, story and challenge than any other iOS RPGs out there..Version: 1.4.0

We need Chinese on iosWe need Chinese on ios!!!! Chinese translations have been updated on steam.Version: 2.5.17

So happy!I've waited for this so long, glad it's totally been worth the wait, one of my fav RPGs ever masterfully recreated. It's play beautifully on the iPad. I think i put this as my best IPad game ever, Baldurs gate 1 and 2 are my second and third. It's worth a lot more than is being charged. Just buy it!.Version: 1.3.2058

Deep and deliciousLove the game. Putting these games on iphone in particular was a challenge. I think they did well. I just hope you have good eye sight, and a little bit of patience..Version: 1.4.0

Exceptional Hack n Slash RPGLike the title says; this is an exceptional hack n slash RPG with great ambiance, environment, flavour, story & fun. Worth it. Great job beamdog..Version: 2.5.17

AwesomeIn chapter 3 now I really like BG but I prefer this game. I like being able to create my whole team and pick class from the get go. The dungeons are challenging but fun game. Overall the game is great!.Version: 1.3.2058

Perfection for meThis is a beloved game for me. I spent countless hours playing this on my laptop when it first came out. It gave me so many hours of entertainment. To have this game on my phone is amazing, I love this game. It plays as great now as it did then, thank you..Version: 2.5.17

Excellent port, reallyFantastic job in remaking the game. Things are a little small on the iPhone, but it's not too bad. Great rpg, worth the price if you like real games with no gimmicks and dnd play style..Version: 1.3.2058

Where is the promised patch???Game is good and worthy of a download but there is a caveat - I don’t think the developer is supporting the game anymore. They promised a patch that never came and their support page no longer works. Hoping they’ll get around to it..Version: 2.5.17

AbsorbingThis is a fine implementation of an old game. It's very tough to beat, taking me a month or more to play with lots of reloads but great atmosphere, tactical combat which makes you think and looks fabulous on the iPad. The games is perfectly playable on iPhone 6 too. Getting to grips with the opaque rules is time consuming but ultimately rewarding. There aren't nearly enough deep and rich games like this on iOS unfortunately. One of my faves..Version: 1.3.2058

Great game👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.Version: 2.5.17

Sublime.Hours and hours of incredible dungeon crawling. More titles please!.Version: 1.4.0

SolidMy favorite game for sure, goes way back for me..Version: 2.5.16

Very good portWhile I still prefer the two baldur's gates, this is a very good game. It plays flawlessly on an iPhone 6 (don't stack arrows in containers though). I found the story of the main game too linear and not that entertaining. I enjoyed more the expansions (with some side events in how and the riddles of trial of the luremaster). However game mechanics rocks and optimizing the characters is a lot of fun. Lot of combats in the game with a few of them really challenging..Version: 1.4.0

Excellent port of a great dungeon crawlerBeamdog have done brilliant work on this. I don't get why some players are criticising the game for being a faithful enhanced version of the original. This is excellent, and it's great to hear the the team are going to work on fixing up BG2's bugs next. This is a fantasy role playing game that is heavier on combat than it is story, and with more character classes and races than the PC original, it's now got even more replayability. I played it on an iPad mini, and found everything to be a perfect size. Can see this all being a bit small on a phone, though..Version: 1.3.2058

IPhone 7 compatibleWorks great even on a small screen. You can turn ‘details’ on to show lootables and with a few auto-pause settings, the game works even better on mobile than on PC..Version: 2.5.17

Fantastic, an early Xmas present!I could only hope for this conversion until now, thank you so much and very well done. But please can you make the text larger - am playing on both iPad and iPhone 6 plus and it's just not readable on the phone, even after adjusting the text size in options..Version: 1.3.2058

Excellently doneWell done - fixed some of the issues that Baldur's Gate shipped with, including selecting the intended conversation option every time - very much loving this port. People with no nostalgia about these will find some of the game mechanics frustrating - I'd advise save often, and set difficulty down a notch, and don't worry about the "perfect party". It's an awesome, epic game, and I love the port. :-).Version: 1.3.2058

Great Adventure RPGThis game is just terrific! Just like the old D&D PC games from the 90's. Running a party of varied characters is the best. Great spell graphics and character building. My son has also purchased the PC version so, he can play at home on the big screen. Now, if only Icewind Dale II comes out or Return to The Temple of Elemental Evil or other 3rd ed or more recent rules set behind the game... Wow!.Version: 1.4.0

OutstandingI’m on such a nostalgia high. These old point and click games were made to be played on a touchscreen. So cool. Can you guys make the original Fallout for the iPad/iPhone as well? That would be sick..Version: 2.5.17

Amazing gameI’ve played the entire series many years ago and I was really excited when it was rebooted for iOS/Android. The app works well, it’s quick on the iPad Pro - can’t wait to see more titles come out soon..Version: 2.5.17

Very good.No tutorial and straight into the first town. Not as story driven which suits me. Get the base D&D mechanics, roll your 6 characters and time to adventure. The interface has been improved and I find moving between characters and their interface slicker than Balders Gate. The choices on character creation is extensive. Not just a Mage but can choose the likes of a necromancer. gives you the ability to create the perfect party. I didn't bother with dual classing and stuck with 2 fighters, paladin, ranger, Mage and a cleric, but gave me a starting party with enough cash to buy the gear I needed. Only criticism are the character models are not that sharp and would like date and time on saves. Other than that, I like it. Playing on Ipad3.Version: 1.3.2058

Dozens of hours of classic RPG gameplay- best played on iPad - stable and not buggy - great interface with touch controls - dozens of hours of classic computer RPG gameplay - similar to Baldur's Gate 2 - incredible writing.Version: 1.4.0

Thanks for releasing these games for tabletsThese games are a little dated now, but in comparison to other tablet games they are amazing. Perfect for bus travel, or when you don't want to turn on a gaming console. If you liked the Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale series and you regularly keep an iPad with you, I can't recommend these games enough..Version: 1.3.2058

Wow!One day in and very impressed. A lot of care has been taken and so far this works seamlessly on my iPad Air. Controls, graphics, music, storyline, character development and customization are all top notch. Excellent old school RPG brought fluidly into a new era. A+.Version: 1.3.2058

:)This game is amazing and it play really well on the iPad.I didn't try whit the iPhone but I discourage you to use your phone whit this game because some people say it laggy. But otherwise it's an amazing game. (if you could make a fallout 1&2 version for iOS it would be awesome).Version: 1.4.0

Best iOS gamesBGEE on iPhone was such a pleasant surprise, perfect for the touch screen. IWD has even better sound and visuals. Only real games on iOS. Must have..Version: 1.3.2058

No soundThe game works fine, but I have no sound after installing and cannot find any fixes for it. Disappointed because I know this game is good.Version: 2.5.17

If you liked Baldur's Gate...... then you'll probably like this. More of the same really, which you may take how you like..Version: 1.4.0

A fantastic revisit to the Forgotten RealmBeamdog has brought us an undistilled Icewind Dale experience. Everything I remember and loved from the original PC masterpiece is here in all its enhanced glory. The touch controls are very intuitive. Those complaining about playing on their iPhone, get real; the developers did the absolute best they could, but the game simply wasn’t designed to be played on a small screen..Version: 2.5.17

Just like the originalAlmost better on the iPad runs super fast.Version: 1.3.2058

Still as great as everI own all the games on my pc and I always play still today. Then finding it again on the App Store is fantastic. It’s workable on an iPhone 8, but playable. If you know the Icewind dale series and Baldurs Gate please purchase! I’m upgrading to an iPad to play the rest..Version: 2.5.17

A great port! This was such a good buy at $6.49, I can understand why people might hesitate to buy this at the full price. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Icewind Dale are classic computer RPGs, I personally spent countless hours playing them in the years between 1999-2002. I'm playing this again after all these years, and I honestly believe that these classic D&D games are better than most games on the App Store. Thanks Beamdog for the enhanced versions, I'm blown away that I can play this on MY PHONE when in the past I'd need a desktop PC..Version: 1.4.0

Old School Dungeon Crawl at it's Best!!!It is literally my favorite game ever, at this point. The spacious atmosphere. The random items. The portraits and voice acting. Customizing parties to one's liking. On an iPad!!! Say what!!! For this gen-xer, this game is my Solitaire, my Mahjong, my Tetris, my go to when I want to chill. Thanks Beamdog!!! Rufff!!.Version: 2.5.17

Great portBest dnd game best played on iPad 6 or higher..Version: 2.5.17

Great RPG on iPadFor RPG fans this is the real thing. Controls are well executed. Ability to pause combat makes it a natural for iPad. Brilliantly well done..Version: 2.4.71

AmazingI absolutely love this game, great for people with a heart for classic RPGs! 11/10.Version: 1.3.2058

Downloading itLooks promising, cant wait to play it. Download time taking sometime. Game is big..Version: 1.3.2058

It’s worth the $10I love this game because the controls are easy. There’s actual strategy to take out enemy’s. It’s also challenging. I have one question though, how to you delete old imported characters?.Version: 2.5.17

Just how I remember itLots of nostalgia playing this game, still love it..Version: 2.5.17

A Classic, PerfectedThis is less a review of Icewind Dale itself than it is a review of the port. The game, in brief, is a classic for good reason; it's challenging, engaging, and infinitely replayable. If you've never played it, you're in for a treat. If you have played it already... You're still in for a treat! The ports of the two Baldur's Gate games were frankly problematic, and doubly so on iOS. They have improved with patches, but the initial releases were fiddly and imprecise to control by touch and were riddled with bugs. The Icewind Dale port, on the other hand, is nearly flawless. Overhaul have finally nailed the porting process, and I haven't had a problem yet. You'll need glasses to play it on anything smaller than an iPhone 6, but even there it's smooth. On the iPad, it sings. Bottom line, buy this game. I can't wait for the previous two releases to be patched to this level of quality! [Edit: for what it's worth, the Baldur's Gate ports are now equally polished. Do yourself a favor and pick them up as well!].Version: 1.4.0

Playable on iPhone 4sIf you are familiar with the platform having played the original BG, BG2 or Icewind dale on the PC you will have no problem playing it on an iPhone. Excellent game!.Version: 1.3.2058

Inaugural game on new iPadReliving the greatest of games on the iPad.what can be better. Nothing!.Version: 1.3.2058

Great game but Angaar, I hate you.So, I have played these games for over twenty years, this has all the fun, customisation and enjoyment of the original, it has two issues, the Party AI is as poor as it always was, multiple clicks to access building etc. However it had a game stopping bug, if you kill Angaar the gate guard, the game is over, you can’t finish Heart of winter and can’t get back to the main game, but, the devs sorted out a clean save for me the very next day, fantastic!.Version: 2.5.16

Fantastic UpgradeThe definitive version of Icewind Dale. Leaves the spirit and style of the game intact but imports a lot of the changes and features from the Baldur’s Gate series including new classes (which makes picking those 6 adventuring buddies all that harder) and spells as well as quashing tons of bugs and updating a lot of the dialogue and script to react to your characters possible kits (choose Barbarian to get a lot of unique dialogue). A bit less story focused and more combat focused which works quite well playing portable in short bursts. Comes with all expansions included and works incredibly well on phones. Another old school classic perfected!.Version: 2.5.16

Don't listen to the ppl who say it's to hard for average pplI hate that so much. All that does is make people fearful thus not playing the best game-s (I personally like baldurs gate the best) ever. I have a learning disability so trying to remember all the spells and their icons and what dispels certain spells is very hard. I forget the sentence I read as I read it over and over again. BUT these games are the only games I would put so much effort into because it's just so beautiful I personally enjoy reading and I just keep pushing through and eventually it falls into place. Over time you pretty much know the basis of all spells and counter spells and it's pure enjoyment. So the point is if you have trouble learning things that average people can grasp very easily don't be put off by all these comments. Just read a tiny bit online the game does all the d&d work for you it's just knowing what the stats mean really. If you want a hack and slash type get icewind if you want more quests and storyline get baldurs gate. I started with icewind actually and it's great Just do it dude.Version: 1.4.0

Awesome game - ignore the hatersAs someone who played this game on its original release - I can understand the complaints that have been levelled against it, but this (and the Baldurs Gate games) are some of the most rewarding games I've ever played. There's no two ways around it, you have to understand at a very high level how the Dungeons and Dragons system works, but again I never played D&D and managed to understand this just fine. In terms of this games itself - and for anyone struggling with progression - you need to pause the game! In the options set your auto-pause up so it'll stop when you see an enemy etc and the plan your attacks; it really isn't that complicated at all. Basically - this is a nostalgic game - but it stands up REALLY well and providing you're going to take the time to get to know it (seriously just google for the original instruction booklet) - you will be engrossed for weeks!.Version: 1.4.0

Well Adapted to iPhone/iPadThis is one of my favorite classic RPG’s and it was incredibly well adapted to the mobile platform. I play whenever I’m waiting around somewhere with nothing to do. Worth every penny..Version: 2.5.16

Tv App PleasePlease put this on Apple tv.Version: 2.5.16

Excellent job! This is a pretty amazing port (for those unfamiliar, this gem is originally a PC game). As a game now touch/tap-centered, they did a great job. It's actually comfortable as compared to the point-and-click original. My only complaint are a couple of inventory problems.. For example, if you place multiples of an item inside of bags or things of that nature, and you have say 10 of that same item, you have to manually add each one as opposed to select a quantity or all at the same time. It's pretty horrible if you've picked up a decent collection. Other than that, I'm very happy. I'm a die-hard fan of the original..Version: 1.4.0

Great RPGGreat game, if you like Baulders Gate you will like this! You can create all 6 of your characters at the start of the game, more of a dungeon crawler, but at £3.99 it's great value.Version: 1.4.0

A real game, a real gemThis is what a real game looks like. No timers, no stamina, no premium currency. Be prepared to play for more than 2 minutes at a time to get the most out of this true classic..Version: 1.3.2058

Great gameGood overhaul but nothing that makes the it super adaptable to the iOS system. Add a mechanic that does this and I will give five stars.Version: 2.4.71

Great on IPadPlays great, the touch controls work well. I love most of this type of games (baldur’s gate 1 and 2, divinity original sin, planescape, etc...) and this one does not disappoint. Got it for 5$, and not disappointed whatsoever. I didn’t play the expansion content during my main story play through, and regretted it, since that would leave you higher level and with great items for the main quest. It still played well after, though..Version: 2.5.17
