Google Wifi for Negative User Reviews

No update possible! This is ridiculous! My iPad says to update Google Wifi app, but when I try to there is no update available, and a end up in an eternal loop. This means I cannot manage my in-home wifi!!!.Version: 2.9.7

App is shockingSays offline but I’m receiving 110 down and 10 up and it’s rock solid. So unprofessional to be able to put out a good all round package but with a stupid inferior app.Version: 2.12

Just showing offlineUsually works really well - great system with easy controls. Unfortunately recently it’s just showing that the network is offline (when the system is working fine and online) and we can’t do anything in the app... sounds like a few people have had the same issue. 😢.Version: 2.12

Needs iPad versionGoogle, it is 2018. Please optimize the app for iPad..Version: 2.8.1

Just atrociousThe hardware can’t manage to extend Wifi coverage beyond a single room, I have 3 pucks in a fairly ordinary 1930s terraced house and can’t get WiFi in the front room or upstairs. Some of the pucks randomly go offline sometimes and there’s no way to fix it, or know why they’re going offline, the app says nothing except to move the pucks closer together, but that would mean two pucks in the same small room! Crazy. Sometimes there’s internet even when the app says the network is down, it’s not even accurate when the network is working. Lots of money wasted..Version: 2.12

Great on the iPhone, needs an iPad appThis isn’t the end of the world but, it would be nice to have an interface for iPad that isn’t just a scaled iPhone version. As a bonus, it would then be easy to port the app so it can run on any desktop/laptop running macOS Mojave..Version: 2.9.14

Shows network as offline alwaysMy network is online. I can use it. The lights on the mesh are on, but the app says the network went offline. All the options are greyed out except factory reset. I don’t want to go through the pain of setting everything up again. Recently, my network keeps dropping out on my MacBook Pro despite being within a metre of one node and 5 metres of another..Version: 2.16.1

Need to be able to monitor ISPWould be great if it has a way to monitor your ISP. So is the connection drop google wifi or is it your internet service provider? Using google wifi does not let you use a lot of broadband monitoring sites so hard to get your isp support..Version: 2.28

Works well but why doesn’t it support iPhone X still??The iPhone X has been out for ages and yet this app still doesn’t support it. It’s sad because whenever I show friends how great Google Wifi is the first thing they notice is that the app doesn’t look right. I really love my Google Wifi devices but the app just needs a bit more love..Version: 2.8.1

One of the slowest, most infuriating apps you will ever useTo begin with, every action in this app is incredibly slow. Part of the reason is it constantly subjects you to long animations, even for actions as simple as opening a different menu. You have to sit there and watch the stupid material design swooshes and waves—no skipping! Worse, the app is riddled with bugs, so steps like adding a WiFi point will often simply fail. This means you will have to sit through these long sequences of steps, each with its own pointless un-skippable animation, several times to successfully complete an action..Version: 2.21

Internet on but app says it’s offlineWhat’s the point of the app when the app says your network is down but your Wifi is working perfectly? I have zero access to the app features, schedules etc. what happened in the last few weeks? Tried everything and nothing works..Version: 2.16.1

Going downhillThis used to work great. Now, when I disable my guest network, it completely removes it, forcing me to set it up all over again if I want to enable it. Also, devices connected to the guest network show up as “wired” devices. Where is the quality control! If stuff this basic is being missed, should we be worried about the more important things too, like security? Also, I once had a weird external IP address show up in my device list which should be technically impossible. I’m starting to lose trust in the quality of both the app and Google’s Wi-Fi devices..Version: 2.16.1

Crappy update Nov 2019I have had google Wi-Fi for a couple of years. It worked well for a long time. I have On-hub as the main point, one wired Google wi-fi point and 3 other wireless google Wi-Fi points. In November of 2019 the kept showing offline on the app. And some would flash red. After countless network resets I deleted the entire network and started over. Some of the points were difficult to add and took multiple tries. Eventually I got them all working and the app showed excellent mesh coverage and speed. The next day and ever since it shows all the google Wi-Fi points offline. Even the wired one shows offline. The network seems to be working fine most of the time but the app is not. We still have certain Wi-Fi points that periodically turn red for a few minutes then go back to blue. I have had to turn off the Wi-Fi on my phone several times and use cell data because the Wi-Fi connection is wonky. Come on google - get these issues fixed. I’m a couple weeks away from getting rid of the whole set up and going to a Ubiquiti system..Version: 2.15

Buggy firmwareI have 4 Google WiFi pucks since 2 years. It WAS the best mesh network available until the last firmware who now slowdown the entire network. A lot if people complained about the same thing on Reddit and Google support is not supportive. The problem is that a device is stuck into priority mode into their cloud services .. so even if you don’t have any prioritized devices into the app, you not get full download and upload speed of your internet connection. They are aware of the issue but they don’t have any solution .. if you put the device into priority list.. you get your full speed again but for 4 hours only. Google... wake up!!.Version: 2.28

Update please.IPhone X support required..Version: 2.8.1

A bit basic and still buggyThe bug I reported about speed test speeds not showing up when iOS is in dark mode still hasn’t been fixed. Could also do with more functionality around providing custom dns/dhcp.Version: 2.21

Not iPad optimisedAre you kidding me google, if this isn't a case of barely providing support. You couldn't optimise your app for an iPad....Version: 2.4.3

Once great, now uselessG-suite users can no longer be WiFi managers, making the app unusable..Version: 2.28

App only good when it decides to workWe have had Google WiFi for about a few weeks now and it seems to work most of the time. We had a hell of a time getting it set up for reasons unknown. We were getting at least 20 mbps from our ISP. After many frustrated attempts, wr finally go it set up. Anyways, when connected to WiFi with great speeds, the app just doesn’t want to open. it’s useless. Just a spinning red and blue circle. We have to use our phone data to manage our home WiFi because this app just plan out will not load will on our house network. Please fix this app Google. It’s terrible!.Version: 2.5.1

What a POSDon’t waste your money on these. They are useless. They slow down all traffic, they are buggy when you try to reset and are generally the most annoying to even set up the first time. Seriously the worst of the worst out there..Version: 2.23

What a shame!Still no support for iPhone X. What a shame....Version: 2.8.1

I try to love it, impossibleThe app is designed by someone that never use it. 1. Impossible change/custom the language 2. Not stable at all, goes randomly to offline and nothing change app mind 3. Customer support, don’t exist. Don’t try, no one answer, so why is a feedback option? 4. Time to time says that one of the devices is not connected to the mesh but is not true. 5. One time shows what devices are I guest and what in regular network, other times all show as in regular. Thinking seriously to put in trash and change to other solution that works.Version: 2.9.16

BrickedLocked out of my OnHub because the iOS 9.x version of the Google Wifi app is no longer supported. Unable to update the app because Apple no longer supports this generation of the iPad mini. #doublefail.Version: 2.9.7

Can’t believe I paid this much moneyI find it incredible that the global leader in technology, yes, Google, can bring out such an incredibly inferior product. Have committed myself to the idea the product would be reliable and worth purchasing, however I soon found that Google WiFi is infact an incredibly flawed system to switch to. Am currently using WiFi right now to make this post and still the app won’t load for me to check my devices connectivity. In the other room my Netflix is being streamed to my ChromeCast, via a router in another building (3 walls and 3-4 meters away) and yet my phone cannot connect to the Google WiFi Control panel app (not web based, only App) and provide me any data to help understand why the furtherest WiFi point refuses to connect (Flashing Blue Light). If you want an incredibly over priced Ice blue light constantly flashing over your household, purchase 6 like I did and see what your money gets you. If the app they built is so hopelessly unreliable, how much can you actually depend on the hardware itself?.Version: 2.9.0

Time limits. Please add time limits (not just schedule limits) per device..Version: 2.9.2

Google wifi works greatBut the app on the iPhone keeps showing as offline. Reset my network and the app worked for a few days but now it's showing as offline again.Version: 2.9.14

Crashed when want to change DNSI can’t change DNS server, is this a wanted thing or a bug? Either way this is making my wifi su*ks.Version: 2.16.1

Good product, terrible appThis review is for the Google WiFi app only, not the mesh system. Using this app feels like very little work has gone into it. For a company of Google’s stature and resources, it is embarrassing. Navigation is not intuitive. It takes a lot of hunting around for basic tasks such as sharing passwords and running system tests. On the topic of system tests, the tests seem to run forever and provide very no information until the test is complete. While running a speed test, it would be nice to see the speeds while the test is running just like every other speed test app shows. Instead, we are stuck staring at the goofy little animations. As a ower of several Pixel phones and Google’s WiFi mesh system, I really wanted to be a Google fanboy, but Google leaves a lot to be desired for the user experience— especially considering their pricepoint is in league with Apple..Version: 2.28

Was working fine....Was working fine but yet again they ‘fiddle’ with it and now it keeps saying ‘can’t find network’ even though I’m connected to it (it’s the only network available) If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!!.Version: 2.9.14

No iPhone X supportAlso, internet over WiFi can go through slow spells despite Ethernet tests showing great speeds..Version: 2.6.0

Good Idea, bad designedThe app itself can be good, however it’s not been updated to suit the iPhone Xs bigger screen size, which needs sorting if the roll out of similar screens goes across the majority of Apples lineup. I feel the app could be presented much better, commonly used features are hidden in sub menus and can be difficult to locate if you’re not seasoned on this sort of tech.Version: 2.8.1

Need ability to have different name for 2.4 vs 5 ghz bandEarly adopter. Preordered before it’s even released. The biggest problem is the inability to have different names for the two WiFi frequencies. Google said their approach is better with having the same name for both and each device can automatically pick the the strongest signal. Great in theory. In reality, a lot of my devices end up constantly hopping back and forth between the 2.4 and 5 ghz bands. This includes another google product Nest. My new Nest Doorbell Cam, another preorder, is constantly dropping connections because it is hopping back and forth between the two bands like crazy. I was told to buy another WiFi router with 5 ghz band turned off in order to maurice the Nest work..Version: 2.9.7

TerribleNo control over ports or filtering. Just entering the section to pause devices pauses everything! And half the time you pause a device it doesn’t change anything! The device continues to access the internet just fine!.Version: 2.25

Worked great, until it didn’t :-(Change is the only constant in life, they say. Oh Google WiFi, why did you change? We had our network set up and working well. Connectivity all over the house. And then you decided to drop off the network at the drop of a hat. I stopped wearing hats, but realized that was not it. Blamed my ISP. Thought it couldn’t be my beloved Google WiFi. You were the chosen one! But no, the ISP router was connected. Devices plugged in or connected wirelessly to the ISP router were fine. Yet Google WiFi was unhappy. I guess it was too good to last. Thanks for the memories. I will probably try Eero - maybe that won’t break my heart..Version: 2.9.14

Typical Google Ignorance for the Wrong ProductJust to name a few: 1) force you to wait 3 minutes between restarted . Of course google knows this is ridiculous. Restart time depends on your device (modem) and would it take 1 min to fully start up? No. Google just want to make sure you hit the highest possible threshold for restarts so if you had further issues , it must not be a restart problem (to help their customer services) But come on, P99 of users should finish their restarts in 10 seconds . It is wasting everyone’s time if I need to re-setup the device due to other settings issues (not related to restarts) Basically, google it thinking that we are all idiots who can not even properly restart their devices. 2) can not activate Xfinity through the WiFi router. In the worst case , a typical WiFi router allows you to connect to it with your laptop via its default SSID and password . There you can change settings and even activate services like Xfinity. Google WiFi, on the other hand, can not. It assumes you somehow setup the internet connection without it and just use it to expand your WiFi coverage . So, even if I got google WiFi, I can not connect to it. You can only interact it with the app. And if Xfinty asks first time users to activate its service , google WiFi would simply fail to setup. I need to get back my old Ethernet desktop to set the entire thing up, even if WiFi and modem are properly connected. What a useless toy it is ??.Version: 2.8.1

Ok most of the timeThis app does everything I need most of the time. There are, however, occasions when the app insists my setup is offline when it clearly is not..Version: 2.2.8

Easy set-up, but poor bandwidth managementShould be able to control priority also bandwidth caps for more than 1 device. I have multiple Google wifi units, should be able to force use of a particular access point for non-mobile devices (google doesn’t always connect to the fastest and you can’t do much to control other than moving wifi units around and hoping for the best).Version: 2.9.14

Not what it was.Goggle Wifi was great when I first got it but recently it’s seems to be getting bad. I have 5 pucks and never had an issue. If anything, my unit in my garage was weak but still good. Now nothing has changed and I try to run the mesh test and all points are failing. I ran a WiFi scan using another app and found that google Wifi is locking into channels that are in use around me as opposed to locking to an open channel. The app and system does not allow you to change the Wifi channel so this is not good and really creating an issue as it is now knocking my cameras offline. I am hoping this is just a software bug that is fixed soon and my system will go back to normal. I hate to think that I may have to go to a competitor and spend more money after spending plenty on google Wifi..Version: 2.10.0

IPad?The majority of us spending well over $400 on a wifi mesh system are looking for full fledged support across all platforms. I use an IPad as a hub to control my fleet of smart home tech, I should be able to control my wifi? Great app though, really helps you feel in control of your internet..Version: 2.9.7

Error not very usefulIssues constantly when setting up mesh. Error just send you to help desk. Where I felt like it was a definition of madness doing same thing again and again and expecting a different out come..Version: 2.10.0

You guys may wanna update this appAt least update the email support in the app so when customers email you guys won’t bounce! Plus, can you add the option of forcing the router to connect to 2.4ghz or 5ghz?.Version: 2.25

Too expensive for the featuresI choose Google WiFi expecting security and a great product. But considering how much it costs I was expecting more. Not sure why I need an app to configure it. Most of the routers use a web interface. Internet down = Wifi down. Why?! I cannot split 2.4GHz and 5GHz in 2 networks... I understand wanting to make things simple except that it is impossible doing what a $40 router let you do easily. I also think the app itself it is not very intuitive. Not clear how to update the firmware. Not clear how to find the setting for the light. Not possible to turn on SafeSearch by default on the whole network..Version: 2.9.2

IPad Support?!Why is there no iPad support? The iPad is arguably the most convenient device for home control, I am somewhat disappointed considering Google is usually very good at this kind of thing. Please consider updating for iPads asap..Version: 2.9.10

Needs an iPad appLet me start of by saying that the google Wifi unit itself is amazing and has solved all of my internet problems. (I have virgin media with a 200mbps package but the router is terrible). I always get top speeds and the ability to prioritise devices is great. However, I am shocked that there is still no iPad version of the app..Version: 2.9.16

No iPad appWhy no iPad app? These sets are so expensive so to not bother designing an app for the iPad is criminal! Come on Google - how are we suppose to use this when you get those stupid bars around the app on the iPad and it won’t rotate because you can’t be bothered? Also blocking a device amongst other things is too complicated and so many simple things are just not intuative enough..Version: 2.9.7

UnreliableNice when it works, absolute garbage when it doesn’t. Every couple of months the app says my Wifi network went offline, but all my devices still get internet without interruption. It’s just the app that says it’s offline and thus the app will not connect or allow me to control any of the WiFi points. It happens every couple months and it fixes itself randomly after days or weeks, whenever it feels like it. Deleting the app and reinstalling does nothing. Trying to reset the routers and reinstall doesn’t work. It’s just a stupid app. The routers are fine when they work but this problem has happened half a dozen times since I’ve owned the routers over the past year and a half. I’ll never buy another google router again..Version: 2.9.14

Needs IPAD SupportCome on google how can you not have IPad support.Version: 2.15

Mesh works, App doesn’tThe mesh WiFi seems to be working fine, and seems stable. But the app says access points offline when they aren’t. Problem is, the app is the only way to configure and monitor the mesh. Google support tells you this is a head scratcher, they’ve never seen this before, whereas it’s all over the internet, and has been going on for months. So not only do they not fix their system, they lie to you about the problem, and have you spin your wheels wasting a lot of time, when they already know it’s an issue..Version: 2.9.14

Google you can do better than thisWhile the app generally works to set things up, it really needs some actual quality of life enhancements, as suggested by many other reviews. Make a dedicated iPad version, there's no excuse not to have one is a bit ridiculous. It needs more options to bring it more in line with others on the market. It works. That's all that can be said. Expected a lot more from Google though..Version: 2.9.14

Does not support IPV6I’ve had my Google WiFi for a while now. It’s a very good system and this app more then makes it! It’s like the future of home routers done right! But since last November they updated the system and it no longer supports IPV6 over PPOE which most U.K. providers use, so as long as you don’t need that your fine. Hopefully the new Nest WiFi brings the support back?.Version: 2.12

App shows incorrect speed resultsThis needs fixing!.Version: 2.8.1

Network is OfflineWiFi works fine but the app always displays ‘Network is Offline’ which means you can’t do anything in the app.Version: 2.23

The Google Wifi app used to work so well...The Google Wifi app used to work very well, but now frequently indicates my (Xfinity) wi-fi is down when it’s not. Deleting and reinstalling the app does fix the problem. We certainly are not doing anything differently than we were before when the app was working well. Very disappointing, since I can no longer count on this app to let me know the status of my network. My iPhone is on iOS 12.3..Version: 2.16.1

Doesn’t workMy Google Wifi mesh system works, but the app says it’s offline. After trying to problem shoot (rebooting, reinstalling, attaching my account again), none of the features still work. The online forums have raised this issue for years, and there is still no clear working solution. The Google responses have been inadequate..Version: 2.23

Losing customI have had these not cheap WiFi boxes for a while. They was amazing when we first got them, the schedule happened when it supposed to do they found all the connections that was connected. Now it rubbish, I’m thinking of getting rid of them and employ another make that does the job that I have paid for them to do. I found my daughter on her Xbox at 1am the other morning although it was saying paused, and also the Alexa hub was running when was not meant to do. Do I get help NO I have asked for help, I’ve Trang the support team nothing even email nothing. I’d try something else now they have forgotten about this system. Shame on you ..........Version: 2.25

Rubbish AppTells falsehoods - apparently all my google points were working, only each one was turned off at wall. Cant control if they are mesh or ethernet. App matches the hardware - poor..Version: 2.9.14

Needs an update ??Despite deleting and reinstalling it, the app still sees my “NETWORK OFFLINE” even though all three pods are online and working... So the app is currently useless.Version: 2.16.1

Cannot use on WLANThis app is utterly useless 90% of the time. When you need it most it will fail you. If your internet goes down and you are in the house the app will cease to work. It needs an internet connection to work and CAN NOT just work on acting to the Wifi points directly. If you live in an area with little to no cellular connection that means when your internet goes down or WiFi needs restarting you will still need to go restart it manually. Except in my case every time the WiFi needs to be restarted, it MUST be restarted again from the app in order to work. So I need to drive to a coffee shop or something to restart my WiFi. Ridiculous..Version: 2.10.0

Great hardware - poor appReplaced my capable wireless router and 2 repeaters with absolute minimum fuss, which is great. Signal is good and strong. However, app lies. Pausing my daughters devices says successful but lies..Version: 2.9.2

Expected more from GoogleExpected a lot more from Google software. Coming from the latest Apple Time Capsule, I thought it was time to move onto Mesh, and Google WiFi came highly recommended. When I was on Apple, yes the router was old but it never once dropped connection, the app was flawless and the signal was consistently strong. The Google WiFi hardware looks nice, but the connection completely cuts out a few times a week. And I mean completely cut out. Needs to add the following desperately: 1. The ability to kick an unrecognised device off the network. Even basic routers have this feature. 2. The ability to have another Home added, for example, home and office. 3. Add an “all time” usage stat. Currently it’s 1 day, 7 days or 30 days. Maybe add some graphs and make it visually pleasing? 4. The ability to set priority for device for an indefinite period. Currently the maximum is 1 hour. 5. Look at Netgear’s Orbi app, and copy that..Version: 2.10.0

Had issues with 13.1.3IOS 13.1.3 would not connect to pucks. I did a full factory reset and could not get the mesh network up, not one puck connected. I used my wife's phone on iOS 12, And was able to get the network up. Scares me that if it goes down again and I need to set up the system, I may not be able to if my wife upgrades her phone to the latest iOS..Version: 2.12

Typical google crap wareGoogle makes good stuff but their ability to interface with users is abysmal. App is poorly designed, icons are so small they require reading glasses to see and space around them is enormous. Layout looks as if designed by high school kid trained at a microsoft coding camp over a weekend. Nothing is laid out efficiently. Although I’ve used this app a dozen or more times over the past week, I still find myself cycling through all the buttons trying to find something I’ve used before. Graphics are annoying and silly- rooms blinking on and off is trite. Once a seek process is started there is no way to cancel it. You have to reboot the app. Network test does not work, press the button and nothing happens. Was there any qc at all for this thing? No. The app is just plain garbage, but the WiFi seems to work well..Version: 2.9.16

I hated itDum.Version: 2.16.1

Connection issuesFIrmware version 11895.108.11 is a big failure. Please fix the connection issues this created. Was working fine before, now I need to reboot the two pucks twice a day to get a good connection that doesn’t last long No issues with the app..Version: 2.12

App just doesn’t workThe Google Nest WiFi is, in concept, freaking awesome. Problem is, they have short shrift to iOS users. To use parental controls, you need to toggle back and forth between the Google WiFi and Google Home apps. Neither is really intuitive to use on its own, and it’s a nightmare to have to stitch the features together to manage your network. The WiFi is great, but it’s infuriating to not know why the app just isn’t saving changes only to figure out an hour later that you could have saved it if you used the other app, which no one rational would have actually expected, and the apps don’t even have similar interfaces It’s like the hardware, software, and app development teams all got their assignments, got drunk, went their separate ways, never communicated or collaborated, completed their tasks, turned them in, and no one ever tested for compatibility.Version: 2.23

Pause function is not intuitive at all and still can’t figure it outThe main issue I have is that Google WiFi’s pause vs schedule features make no sense at all. I can’t distinguish between the two - do I need to pause the devices that I then want the schedules pause to impact? It seems like in user videos the scheduling feature allowed you to select what devices the scheduled pause will impact - that does not seem to exist anymore? When i test the schedule pause, nothing is paused actually and it isn’t until I manually go in and pause certain devices that the WiFi stops for those devices. But then you can’t schedule pausing of those devices...so, basically the scheduler is useless...please help!!!!.Version: 2.16.1

Glitchy and disappointingApp gives false information. Keeps saying the my google WiFi is offline, and renames points. App crashes and takes ages to load. Very disappointing..Version: 2.16.1

Poor appI shouldn’t buy 3 of those and all of them are junk. No web hi, just a damned app from mobile devices. Very limited functions. Do not buy any of those..Version: 2.16.1

Recently Updated?Your recent upgrade was to improve performance? Wow, far from that, it’s terribly slow and some portions of the app no longer even open? Fix this ASAP!!!.Version: 2.10.0

The reason the wifi is outThis app used to be great. Now you have to open the app just to get the wifi working. Oh and 5 minutes later. You have to remind the app you’re still using the internet. I have fast speeds coming to the house but this app is the reason the wifi is out. Do not recommend.Version: 2.28

IPadPro and iPhone connection dropsI had this prob since I installed. At least once a day ipadpro connection drops. Need to WiFi on/off then it works. My iPhone started doing this too problem is I don’t realize it and have been using my cell data :-$. Other none iOS devices are stable. And my iPad and iPhone are ok with other networks. Please address this it’s annoying..Version: 2.8.1

Functionality is good. UX is awful. As the title says. Love the WiFi. But the ux looks like it was done by an engineer. Basic stuff requires hunting in various sections to see where they’ve hidden it. E.g. Try removing a device from a group. Good luck..Version: 2.10.0

Needs worksWhile the app does what is intended, there are several glaring omissions: * no iPad support * no time limits per device or label * a device can be attached to a single label only * scheduling by label only * no reporting or monitoring It has given me more control than not having it, but I don’t think it was designed by a parent that wants to control device access for their child..Version: 2.9.14

Doesn’t workAll 3 of my Google WiFi devices have worked great now for a year. This garbage app has said all three WiFi points have been offline for months now, despite them all being on and working great. So I guess I have to live with the bright lights being on all the time because this app is horrendous..Version: 2.9.16

Unbelievably badly designedBought 15 google mesh devices to cover my house (range is not good through concrete walls), hooked each device to my cat6 lan. Configuration is a nightmare, app returns errors again and again. Finally got the whole system working after a full day configuring and retrying, and two weeks later the main device starts failing causing the whole network to be unstable. There is no simple way to replace the main device, you have to factory reset the entire network of mesh devices and reinstall a main and each one again. The telco contractor didnt want to do the work as it would take too long. Now i have done a factory reset i am back to getting nothing but errors trying to recreate a network through the app. Tons of design flaws in this system and devices...buy something else..Version: 2.28

Needs Work and where’s the iPad version? This app needs work. I recently had an internet outage with my modem and the app said it it lost the connection when I was away from home, which is what it’s supposed to do. When I came home however my phone connected to the Google Wi Fi right away but the app stopped working and the checking status just kept spinning. I could not check the router status or reboot it from this app. I had to do a hard reset of both my modem and the Google WiFi for it to work again..Version: 2.9.10

Don't buy itStuck in using a mobile device. More convicted than any other router. Just give us a simple web page to set up and configure like everyone else. I don't want it attached to anyone's account, don't want to use someone's phone or tablet. How stupid..Version: 2.9.7

Lack featuresTurns out if you adjust your settings NOT to send details to google you loose half your features. Why can’t I do thing on device rather thank sharing my information? Also, lacks features like broadcasting a 2.4/5ghz (unless you enable guest mode) will give them away and upgrade.Version: 2.23

Stuck at looking for device foreverStuck at looking for device forever I had this issue few years ago. And still not fixed..Version: 2.16.1

WiFi is working but with no management web page I have to rely on hopeI am surprised there is no direct management UI web page for the router. This scares me for the day where I have to troubleshoot or fix a connectivity problem. I wish I could filter out even devices connected by wire, by MAC address, instead of only WiFi devices. Not a lot of thought for wired devices, as they don’t even show up in the app. So far things are working okay and setup with the app worked fine... but if I knew there was no direct management page, I would not have purchased this. Now I feel I spent too much and instead of enjoying the product, I feel like I was duped..Version: 2.28

Dark Mode PLEASE 🙏🏻😎‼️Die hard Apple fan here so buying a google product took some self convincing but I took the plunge, only bought 1 unit to try before adding more, hardware is great but App certainly needs some work..Version: 2.12

Needs iPad support!Good app, needs iPad support though!.Version: 2.8.1

Great at firstExcited to install my new network and download the app to take advantage of its features. Unfortunately after rose colored glasses wore off the app just shows offline all the time. Even though the WiFi is working. Really annoying because I thought I was having internet problems. Tried to delete the app and factory reset. Still some issues. Hopefully whatever it is, gets corrected and soon! Update: did a factory reset and started to add all 19 of my devices and halfway through the same issue. This is just unbelievably dumb..Version: 2.16.1

Expected more from GoogleI’m running latest iOS on iPhone XR. The app used to work seamlessly but over the last few updates someone messed it up. I can not create a schedule for kids devices or even add kids devices for family WiFi. Then other times I go into the app and all my devices are paused. Someone really messed up..Version: 2.16.1

Not acceptable GooglePeople pay good money for separate routers and expect Google to provide the full suite of features to maximise the value of router. This app is unacceptable, and needs to be updated asap.Version: 2.28

Lots of Features lackingProvides a mesh network as advertised. However significantly underperforms with features. Lacks the ability to limit bandwidth to individual devices. You can only prioritize speed for one device. Once device is connected, you are unable to remove it from the network, a feature that is desperately needed. You have to change the WiFi password and then reconnect all devices. Imagine have multiple Nest thermostats or cameras, smart device and having to do this. Makes me want to avoid Google devices in the future..Version: 2.9.14

Why is half the features here? For some reason Google thought it would be a good idea to have half of the features here and the other half in Google home app. I often find myself going back to the other app to do what I need. Would rate 5 stars if this did more..Version: 2.23

Great product, terrible appI think Google WiFi is great: easy to setup, great performance, lots of features (there’s a lot I wish they would still add, but it’s already pretty great). But the app itself is terrible, so I’m only giving it one star. First off, the UI seems simple at first, but it turns out you have to click A LOT to get anything done. Want to delay a schedule after it’s already started? You have to switch to the third tab, then go into Family, then click on schedules, then.... Actually, most of my complaints are around schedules. Why can you only delay a schedule by 30 minutes? How come when you delay a schedule that repeats the following night it causes the schedule to automatically start 30 minutes later the next night? Instead of (or in addition to) just setting start & stop times, why can’t you also limit the total amount of time spent online per device per day (or per schedule)? There’s a lot of potential here, but I’ve had this long enough now and I can’t say I’ve seen any real momentum behind this app. Is this just another 20% time project that escaped the Googleplex only for ongoing development to be abandoned quickly thereafter?.Version: 2.9.7

Offline!Works great when working but my app is saying it’s offline when the wifi points are working fine. It’s not the first time this has happened to me. Had to reset all points to fix. Please fix this Google!.Version: 2.16.1

Sonos and google wifi not syncingNot sure what happened but sonos is seeing the 3 hubs as different networks even though they are all on the same network with the same name. 5 speakers are together working on 2 mesh hubs and 1 speaker is only seeing the main google wifi hub. Not sure what’s going on google..Version: 2.15

Keeps getting worseThis app used to work well, but now it wants you to be connected to the wifi to be able to do anything with your network. It used to be you could log in and reset your network if there was an issue, which was very useful. Now, if you connect while the internet connection is down, it won't let you do anything. So you can only restart your network if everything is already working....Version: 2.16.1

This app lies...I have wrote to google twice about this issue. I have 3 wireless webcams connected. I have out them in a group. If I pause the devices, the app shows them as paused and shows that no traffic is passing. Yet if I go to my webcam app to view my webcams they are all streaming away perfectly whilst Google WiFi app pretends they are paused and not passing any traffic. In general I find the app usage very vague and inaccurate on all devices! I guess as long as the user thinks it's right then they are happy and think the app is amazing. Dong always believe what you see!.Version: 2.6.0

Doesn’t workFirst asked me to turn on Bluetooth (why?!) then said looking for my device? I was using my device (my iPhone) and that was it! It didn’t find a thing! Waste of time..Version: 2.16.1

When’s the update, Google?Just bought a Nest Hub, and this is part of the interface that I have to deal with? Really poor. Also needs iPad version as a lot of people including myself use my iPad as a home hub..Version: 2.23

Wifi greatNo problems with Wifi, super strong signal around the house. BUT app is terrible, needs iPad optimisation, app doesn’t load and says no signal when I’m watching live football over WiFi. I got these for the great things you can do using the app. APP is useless. Please fix as these ain’t cheap..Version: 2.9.16

App constantly shows network offlineThe network is working fine but the app shows it is consistently offline..Version: 2.9.14

Weak QOSMissing a real QOS to allow prioritizing protocols such as VOIP. Also we should be able to prioritize multiple devices. At the moment, only one device can be prioritized..Version: 2.9.7

App not workingWe have had our pucks for over 2 yrs and everything was great. Went to change our password and the app has suddenly crashed. I can’t do anything. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it and it comes back up the exact same way. All’s it wants to do is set up 🤷‍♀️ everything is already set up. Not sure what to do now 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️.Version: 2.28

Still not optimized for the iPhone XCan we please optimize this for the iPhone X?.Version: 2.8.1

Used to be good.. not so much anymoreI wish I knew what happened. Initial install was easy last year and my coverage seemed great for a few months. But then the app would report the system offline and it really wasn’t. Then the app would prompt for a retest which I did. This happened randomly every other month or so- inconvenient but acceptable. Now the worst has happened. I upgraded my iphone 7 to an iphone 11. When I tried to login to the app on the new phone, it would not recognize the new phone. It asked me to reenter my email and password. Still no recognition. I asked to reset the password. Google emailed me that there was no account associated with my email. I called and spoke to support. There is no product associated with my email-HUH?? I have been using the mesh network for over a year- this is my only email. So now I am literally locked out of the app with no way back in. When the system goes down there will be no way to reestablish it, unless maybe if I unplug and restart the whole thing from scratch with a NEW email address. GARBAGE!!!!!!.Version: 2.15

It's so JANKYI'm a college student so the google wifi seemed like a pretty good option. It was cheap and easy to use. However, a lot of the time on the app it will say my network is offline although i'm on the network. Another problem you can run into is the wifi point just disconnecting from the internet while you're in the middle of something. Also if you plan on my playing games on it from your xbox you're more than likely to have to setup a guest network and play on that connection instead of youre main one as for some reason the guest wifi is 100% of the time a stronger connection..Version: 2.15

IPhone X SupportHey Google! Time to extend the screen real estate! The iPhone X has been here a while now - get at ‘er.Version: 2.8.1

Basic networking fail, very frustratingGoogle wifi node/device assignment sucks! I've got 4 of them through the house and it always connects my point to the access point that's furthest away. 🤦‍♂️ They don't let you open settings & force the device to use a closer node either - basic networking fail. Google, let me force my device to connect to a closer node when I'm on the opposite side of the house! Why is this not a feature in the app. Your automatic network/device assignment sucks for devices that move around the house!.Version: 2.10.0

Broken speaker groupsLooks like an update to Wifi broke casting to Google Home speaker groups. Not been fixed for days.Version: 2.15

Good but requesting a featureGood app, but please let me specify the period to calculate monthly usage. Eg. 21st of each month..Version: 2.6.0

App can not find google wifiCould not find device to even be able to use the app.Version: 2.25

Cmon Google. You can do better. This should be amazing, but it’s very glitchy. I have a primary google wifi point and 2 mesh network points but for it occasionally renames my points, right now it’s showing one of the mesh points as being a wired connection, and various other odd things can happen. The Family Wifi feature should be great but the menu is difficult to navigate and unnecessarily complicated. You have to create a “label” to group the devices you’d like to schedule breaks for, then create a “schedule” for that particular “label” of grouped devices..? Then when you go back into it later, you’ve got all your labels and then all their schedules listed behind another menu. It’s messy, confusing even when you understand it, and difficult to alter. Plus, if you want your kids’ laptops restricted at a certain time on school night and another time on the weekend, you have to create 2 different schedules! So that’s 1 label, plus 2 schedules per child! Why?? Ridiculous. It should be so much simpler to use..Version: 2.9.14

Waste of timeThe setup fails, when is not doesn’t can’t find the last mash.Version: 2.12

Ios 13 dark modeCan u please add dark mode to this app.Version: 2.12

Shows offlineThe app used to be great 5 starts, but recently keeps coming up as network offline so none of the app functions can be used but the network is working fine. Delete app and reinstall doesn’t work. Turned off and unplugged everything for 10 doesn’t work. The only thing that seems to work is unplugging for at least an hour which is getting really annoying. Please hurry up and fix as it seems I’m not the only one having this problem..Version: 2.16.1

Never change your setupSo much time has been spent making this work for easy first time setup if you ever change anything may as well delete your whole google account and buy a new device. Give me a proper router and AP anyday. Must have about 0.5 junior devs working on it.Version: 2.28

Great productIt solved my issue with weak WiFi signal at home. However, the app still lacks iPhone X support..Version: 2.8.1

AwfulDelete this app.Version: 2.25

Works great, but standard features require reduction of privacyThe router works as advertised, but in order to get device reporting on your network, family controls, or QoS, you have to enable cloud services which shares device info with Google. Considering routers have done such features locally for years, I have to assume this is a dark pattern specifically designed to force folks to reduce their privacy if they wish to use their router with those features which are table stakes for any router these days. If those features are important to you and you do not wish to share info with google about the devices on your network, I’d suggest you get a different router. Lucky for us, using the basic functions of wifi and guest networking are all we need..Version: 2.23

Login with Google account? LolSo they want your every data now? Why would you have to login with Google account to control your own network? Pathetic attempt to get into your privacy..Version: 2.9.0

5 Star on Face Value, 1 Star on UseI have come to expect so much more from Google. An app that should be easy to use, Google have found a way to find a complicated way to do things - NOT AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE!!.Version: 2.12

Needs QoS ControlsWe live in an area with extremely poor cellular reception and depend upon WiFi calling to make phone calls at home on our mobile phones. Unfortunately, you can only prioritize a single device for up to four hours, which only guarantees a connection to WiFi calling for that single device for that set period of time. Otherwise, the three adults in our home who need a dependable connection to WiFi calling are sometimes not connected to that service while the kids' phones are (the kids almost never make phone calls, so WiFi calling is not as important). There is no way to prioritize the adults' phones permanently, and we sometimes miss important phone calls because Google WiFi randomly assigns priority to other devices. It is so frustrating that I am actively searching for other systems that allow me more control over device prioritization. Too bad, too, as the system is great in all other areas..Version: 2.9.2

Good ideaWorks OK once you’ve managed to setup the hardware, a little more information during the set up process would be appreciated... like why it’s failing if there are problems, and some tips to help resolve issues. For me it was a complete factory reset of my 2 puck’s, but disconnected from the internet and with no way to find guidance the software does a poor job..Version: 2.28

I wanted to love it...The app simply doesn’t work on iOS. I have tried 4 different devices but cannot set up a new network. I spent several days on the phone w tech support who concluded that there is an iOS issue. I was able to connect every device in my home to the puck by logging on to it’s default network. So the WiFi point is working and is getting the signal from my cable modem. However since the app is not working I have no way of accessing my network and more importantly no way to link the two additional Wifi points I purchased. Packing it up and sending it back..Version: 2.10.0

Very basic app, needs updates! This app is very basic and is missing many important functions. Just one example is that you can setup a guest wifi, but you can’t actually see what devices are connected to that vs to your main wifi...Version: 2.9.14

IPhone X screen support?Good app but after 6 months still no iPhone X screen support..Version: 2.8.1

Lacks of Options e.g. Turn off WiFi signalLots of routers support scheduled on/off WiFi signal, please add this feature..Version: 2.23

TerribleThis is legitimately the worst WiFi system I have ever used. (1) It’s impossible to change your service username and password without factory resetting the entire system, which can take up to an hour to re-setup with a 4 AP mesh. (2) My devices will frequently connect to an AP with low signal instead of a nearby AP with better signal and a wired connection to the primary AP - and there is no way to prioritise an AP or tell the mesh to always use a particular AP for certain devices (ie. my desktop computer which never moves). (3) And lately the app will claim my network is down despite the device I’m using the app on being connected to that same network, and there seems to be no way of fixing this. Restarting the network does not fix it, reinstalling the app does not fix it, and I’m worried if I try to reset the network I won’t be able to reconfigure it again. It’s ridiculous and frustrating. Google WiFi is absolutely, honestly, legitimately a horrible, terrible, frustratingly poor excuse for a wireless network solution. I would 100% discourage anybody from investing in deploying this in your home (or anywhere else for that matter)..Version: 2.9.10

Need to login with google ID??Avoid. This makes you log in with your google id. Presumably so that Google can monitor everything you look at for their own commercial reasons. This is scary/dodgy beyond belief!.Version: 2.9.14

Definitely needs work!It works, sort of. Every node I installed had to be done several times before it “took”. Also, it seems that the app needs to be connected to the cellular system in order to install the nodes properly. Not sure about that, but seems to be the case. This seems to explain the variations in reviews of the app. If you have a good cellular connection everything works fine if you don’t you’ve got problems! My cellular connection is marginal. Overall, the mesh network works very well, but the app needs improvement! Added: Works well. Only persistent issue that’s driving us crazy.... regularly looses connection to our printer causing our computers to assume “printer is offline”! Really irritating! Did not have this problem prior to google mesh network. Have set IP address to “fixed” but that did not work. Right now have to reboot the printer for almost any use. Note that google “support” is mostly about sales... for example click on “developer website” and see if you can find help. But the mesh works well... 🥴.Version: 2.15

HorribleProbably the worst experience I have a ever had with a tech product. The WiFi is very sensitive and if you change one thing the entire network falls apart. I got a new router and that did it - the mesh network fails and I have been on with google help for a couple of weekends - if you learn anything from reading this, then you will know to steer clear of this product- will leave you extremely frustrated and out about $300. On the positive side, when it does work it makes a difference; the problem- it is offline more than it is online..Version: 2.23

Worked fine until latest version updateMy Google Wifi has been working fine until this latest update. It wants to set up the mesh system again however the app will not connect to any of the wifi points and the internal network is not working....many resets later....still no luck with the new app!!!.Version: 2.28

Show passwordWould be great if the Show password option could be deactivated due to kids bypassing this option if using the same Apple ID. Recommend an App password like Telstra offer for their App. My son seems to be able to log out and log in again and get a different MAC address bypassing the schedules. Not Ideal..Version: 2.9.16

Now a Useless AppIt seems that Google has let this app die a slow and painful death. It used to be an easy to use app to access your Google wifi mesh system - now it does nothing..Version: 2.28

App layout is not optimized for iPhone XApp generally works fine, but there is a lot of wasted space at the top and bottom part of the screen on the iPhone X..Version: 2.5.1

Terrible! Stay away.Requires regular phone restarts to get through the setup process. Provides no feedback during the setup process, just hangs. Gets confused about the status of the mesh network..Version: 2.9.16

Hardware is ace, app not so muchFirst of all, there is still no iPhone X app so you have silly black bars at the top and bottoms of screen. It’s also not very intuitive if you want to simply unpause a schedule for a brief period. I can never seem to find that. Otherwise, it’s a much better app than most Wifi solutions, and the router itself is excellent..Version: 2.8.1

Needs to be Optimised.Good app but it needs to be optimised for the IPhone X..Version: 2.6.0

Family WiFi very poorly implementedFamily WiFi is a great idea but very poorly implemented. Schedules don’t seem to work at the correct time and also block the ability to quickly turn on /off internet access for devices. Could be so much better. The rest of the app seems ok..Version: 2.16.1

Just want to check my wifi speedWent to google to see the best way to check Wi-Fi speed in various area of my house. Google search indicates this can be done with their app. Turns out you can’t check your speed unless you purchase and set up Google equipment..Version: 2.28

App crashThe app crash alot. I cant change wan setting.Version: 2.0.1
