Worked only for amounts under $50I’ve used this app for a few years to purchase books or movies so that I could then play them on ogle play. Never had a problem. When I recently moved to a rental and the landlord wanted he rent payment thru google pay I immediately began having problems. First the message failure was “try again in a few day or with a different payment method”. I may not be the norm, but I only have one payment method. After the 3rd attempt, each being 3-4 hours apart, I received a critical alert from google Pay that I now needed to go try the verification process to ensure it was really me using my information. OK, I can understand that. I was suddenly increasing the amount of what I normally spent. Did the verification. Waited the 48 hours. Did not ge the all clear email. Called google. Error on their part, had to wait another 48 hours before using. Tried to use and got the same error message of “try again in a few days or with a different payment method”. UGH!! Called google This started on August 31, 2020 and I am writing this on September 9, 2020 with NO RESOLUTION from Google. All I wanted to do is pay my rent..Version: 24.46.20081906024

If you need money right away don’t use this app!!!Google pay has got to be the worst money sending app I have ever used in my life. I have just about every other money sending app. It has never taken so long to get money transfer ever. My Bf sent me money to get something from the store on my way home. Thank god I had enough cash stashed in my car to cover it. Apps similar to this you get money in minutes. The estimate delivery on this app said June 19th the money was sent on the 5th!!! When I finally got to his house and told him it had 2-3 business days on his end. He ended up just canceling the transaction about 6days later because it was taking so long. 3 stars for ease of useThis app has got to be the best, alongside Apple’s Pay. I use it to send and receive money to my slightly tech adverse parents, and it just works. Until recently they decided to break functionality with iMessage. Now you have to hop into the app, and walk through the parents whenever they need to receive money. It’s such a pain now! Can’t use Apple Pay because they have a bank that isn’t yet compatible with the service (they live in a small town that only has a MERCO and a Yosemite bank) no BoA, No Chase or Wells Fargo. The closest one in 30 miles away. So it helped when you could just add a card in Google Pay and use it directly in iMessage. Now we have to maneuver around a clunky app that crashes when you try to send money. Please try to put back on iMessage!.Version: 24.43.20060210024

Still waiting.I will never use this app to send or receive money again. In an emergency, a friend sent some money. Nothing huge but enough. I set up a google pay account and hit accept.... money cannot be transferred due to unusual activity on your account. Wait? The account I’ve had for about 3 minutes? What activity? This leads to my first “live chat”. After finally getting the person to understand the issue I’m told there is no problem with the account and this is just a security measure. The money should transfer in 24 hours. 24hours?! This was an emergency! I asked several times how they could cancel it so money could be sent immediately, no answer. In fact I’m told they “get the point and I should be patient. The money will be there”. I end the chat. Hours later I receive an email, my money!!!! Yay!! Nope. I’m told it’s pending and I can expect it by April 1st. 10 DAYS LATER. I’ll end my story here. The most buggy app from GoogleI love all Google products; however, this is the first time when I was disappointed with a Google app. I’ve been using Venmo, Apple Pay, Cash App, for the past 2 years. Today, a friend of mine wanted to send me money using Google Pay, so I decided to set it up. Problems started when I opened the app. I received this alert “This payment profile can’t be used to send or receive money.” The reason that was given was that my account was either a business account, or it was in a unsupported country (I live in South Jordan, UT and never had a business account). Well, I pressed “OK” to close the error message hoping that it would let me proceed. To my surprise, the error message pop up again and I had to accept the exact same error message 10 times before it let me in. When I was trying to add Chase debit card, it rejected it saying that the provided information had to be corrected. I double checked all the information 3 times, and it was correct. 0 stars if I couldI was told this was a great app to accept payments. I accepted one payment from a customer for $325 for labor work since he insisted on using it. Well now it’s about 2 months later and he claimed it was a fraud transaction. Instead of contacting me because I have proof in text that he authorized the charge. They went ahead and charged it back. Gave him the $325 back and took it straight out of my bank account since it was linked to google pay. Unbelievable. People can just claim fraud to get a service for free and the work is for nothing. Of course they told me “it happens, people do this stuff all the time. Only way to get your money back now is to take him to civil court” SERIOUSLY. Won’t even get out of pop upWe downloaded this app on my husband’s iPhone XR and when we opened the app it immediately popped up a box saying “this profile can’t be used because it’s associated with a business or you’re in a country where sending or receiving money is not allowed” or something to that affect. You can see the home screen behind the pop up and at the top right it shows my husband’s little icon for himself he picked and other stuff. When I hit ok on the pop up because it says to try a different profile it immediately pops back up. I have tried everything and have searched everywhere for help but there is absolutely nothing or no one that can help. WTH??? Put out a product that can’t be used ever and with no way of helping people if there’s a problem??? So frustrating..Version: 24.30.19103003044

Works well, could be betterI’ve been using this app for a few years now and I’ve seen some of the changes. The developers have added more and more features which is nice, but it gets more difficult to see and do the few basic things that I actually need. Upon opening it doesn’t automatically telling me my current balance. I have to scroll through several screens to find out that information. Warning!! Don’t Trust Your Money Is Not SecureSent Money to a friend who had never used google pay and had yet to set up her payment profile. Well when I sent the money it went to a MasterCard that she has never had and it was registered under her account. Spent countless hours on the phone to get this resolved and they couldn’t even tell us what financial institution this money went to. My friend only has had one account and the same card for over 10 years! I don’t know where the money is and google refused to give it back. Customer Service is very rude! Terrible app do not useI usually use venmo and love it. You download it and sign up and get money right away. A family member needed to send me money and they wanted to use google pay so i signed up. What a huge mistake!!! When i tried to claim the money it said there was unusual activity on the account which was impossible bc i had just signed up. I kept trying to claim the money even took The debit card and tried to reinstall. From the very first try it did not work. I desperately needed funds today. I called Google and was told bc i kept trying money was now in a loop and i gad to wait 24 hours even though new acct. Said small print mentions this in terms of service. Was great while it lastedAbsolutely loved using google pay, I was able to easily send and receive money from my dad and my roommate. I send money to my dad for my car payments and when I tried sending 1,500 they locked my account and made me give a lot of personal information, including a picture of my ID, which I provided and they still wouldn’t let me use my account. After emailing them, they asked me to send a photo of my social security, which I don’t understand why, because when it denied me from sending the money it asked me to manually give my social security which still wasn’t good enough for them, so why do they need pictures now? Stole my money..I would NOT recommend this app because it is not the best app to get! I have sent money by mistake and somehow the claimed they sent the refund back to my bank! My bank sent me a letter and told me in person that they never received any kind of payment within Google. Therefore, I called Google to get this issue resolved! And it was NOT successful. They kept making up stories and lies about they did sent the refund and but my bank says otherwise. Then hung up on me after trying to three way with my bank. Yeah! Stick with Venmo, Paypal or Square CashThe incompetence of the Google Pay team I’ve been dealing with is unbelievable. I used the service once with no issues, but for over 10 DAYS I have been unable to claim $ sent to me due to an “unusual activity” error. No less than 5 times have I been assured that there is no hold or error with my account, and that the problem has been fixed. I am not even able to transfer the funds to the in-app balance nor my secondary checking account. I’ve attempted to ask if I needed to verify my identity, provide a checking account, to no avail. The money will automatically be returned to the sender in 3 days if this is not resolved. It is absolutely inexcusable that their CSR team blatantly lies and has absolutely no idea what to do when their service has hiccups. Horrible Customer ServiceTried my first transfer w them. The recipient of the money called and said it was going to take 10 days for her to receive money. So I cancelled the transfer and sent the money to her on Venmo which she got the next day. Of course it has been 3 days since my cancellation and I called today only to find out it would take a total of 10 days to get the refund. I am guessing Google is enjoying the use of my money in the interim. Talking with customer service for Google Pay was painful. The initial agent could not provide me with an explanation for this delay so I then was transferred to the supervisor Marcel. His condescending attitude made the conversation very uncomfortable and apparently Google is unable to assist me in accelerating my refund. Broken, stuck in boot-up loopI haven’t been able to use the app for over a year, I’ve offloaded the data from my iPhone and deleted the app and re downloaded only a million freaking times, and it still won’t work. It just displays two error messages over and over and over and over and over—I think you get the point. “Your current session has ended please log in again” and then “there doesn’t seem to be an internet connection” even tho I definitely have cellular data on and working in addition to uninhibited WiFi, but you could just keep clicking okay to each message and it will just continue jumping back n forth between the same two error messages for the rest of millennia. DO NOT USE!I’ve been using this app for years to send money to my boyfriend and sister and I’ve never had an issue until last week. My boyfriend asked me to send him $50 and I did but it wasn’t showing on his account so I sent it a second time and the same happened. He did not receive the money and I contacted them to see what was the issue and they told me everything was fine on my end but that he should contact them. He did and they told him the same thing and according to them they show everything is fine on his end as well and both payments show complete! They act so stupid when we tried reaching out and we even called our bank since we have the same bank and they told us that the funds were declined by the bank. They need an updateThis app isn’t bad. Makes it super easy to send money back and forth with friends. However, the app does not allow you to send money to yourself between two bank account you have. Maybe if I made two different account and just switched back and forth, but that’s a lot of steps. I know there is an app called Zelle that will allow you to do that, but it’s only for the large banks and I use credit unions. They should update and let you send money between different bank accounts you have..Version: 21.7.52

First time user & it's a big hassle when your first setting up to get verifiedIf you need the money tomorrow & it's your first time don't bother expecting good solutions, I tried to make an account from my business, they held the money for 2 days & told me to verify, i sent them everything & in the 2 days still couldn't access the money because they said my names were different so I made an account with my original email & name & now I'm trying to send money & i can't even send money even though I sent them my ID & now I have to wait an additional 24 hrs for them to verify my ID just to send money, I've used every other payment app & had no issues verifying & being able to use my account, it's been a week & i haven't been able to access 2 different accounts even tho I gave them my social & everything, customer service is quick but they don't even help, I called 4 times & they all say the same exact wording every single time with no actual help being provided over the phone, never even left a review but this is ridiculous..Version: 24.18.19041704014

Do not use Google Wallet in the Messages app.It took me an hour to get to the bottom of this. I’m a tech-savvy person, and this is utter madness. I got an email from my bank that $500 had been transferred out, but there was no transaction history in Google Wallet, and when I contacted the recipient (luckily a friendly client whom I had requested money from, NOT sent money to) they said they never received any notification or accepted any payments from me. So basically Google took money out of my account without my authorization, and it will take TWO DAYS for the transfer to reverse. Google couldn’t even provide me with a confirmation of the reversal, and neither could my bank. So I just have to trust the $500 appears back in my bank account within two days. Stopped working - Customer Service uselessI had been using this app frequently, but almost 6 months ago when I tried to send money I got an error that there had been “unusual activity” on my account and my transaction could not be processed. This was alarming, but I didn’t find any odd transactions in any of my bank accounts or Google Pay. I contacted Google Pay and they were not only unhelpful, but, told me Differ t lies about why it wasn’t working. Every conversation/email/chat ended with “our specialist have resolved your issue. Please wait 24 hours before using Google Pay”. But it never has worked since then even though I keep bugging them. Sketched me outSo I have used google pay for a while now and really hadn’t had any problems until recently. For some reason the app wanted me to verify my identity even though I had been using it for about a year now. This is all well and good except that to verify my identity it wanted me to send in a photo of my social security card(not just enter it, send in a photo)....maybe it’s just me but sending a photo of my social to an app just doesn’t seem safe or secure. I wish it had offered me a different option but unfortunately this appears to be the only way to unlock my account to allow me transfer money. Need s little Web Care on your SiteSo I clicked on the 3 lines upper left...get 3/4 choices...clicked SETTINGS & then GENERAL...says “EDIT ACCT INFO” “You can update your name and account information in The payment center.” But where is Payment Center??? It’s nowhere! Also on the send/receive Payment some of my contacts are at the top ( must be people who use Google Pay ) how do I delete them off my top page I click on them and it says to send or receive money there’s no ax to delete them off that page! I don’t want them there...maybe my kids, but not my Realtor from two years ago 😒 so please get some excess next to each name so we can delete them. Terrible, Stick with PayPal or VenmoOnly use this if you’re doing debit to debit. If you’re using a bank account it’s terrible. I still have a pending transaction going on 5 business days now which is now 8 days total. Customer service is incompetent and can’t explain anything that occurs within their system and each customer service rep says something different. They’re supervisor was completely unhelpful as well to resolve the pending transaction. If I knew google wallet would be terrible to work with I would have just stuck with another app. Avoid this like the plague. Avoid!!! Please read:I thought Google Wallet was great. It was pretty fast, free, and I was able to pay my old roommate by the flick of a finger. It wasn't too bad of an app. Until I came across a problem. I sent my significant other money to pay some of our bills. He had set up his bank account, verified it, and set his bank account to his primary method of sending and receiving money. When he got a confirmation email, it told him it was being sent to his "MasterCard." (He doesn't have a MasterCard.) We called customer service, got talked over and HUNG UP ON. The second CSR also talked over him and raised his voice. Turns out, that MasterCard was MY debit card. They tried to use the excuse that my card was the oldest method of payment (it wasn't, he had another debit card on there far older than mine), so the system chose that over his primary. The CSR argued with us. Literally argued with us about this. The funny thing is! We never physically added my card! Once, we had used my card to pay a bill within his browser. (Google Chrome.) Chrome took it upon itself to save my card info and add it to his Google Wallet account. We tried on both ends to stop the transfer, but Wallet told us it was impossible. So, I have $2,250 going out of my account for a few days to *hopefully* be returned in a timely manner BACK INTO my OWN account. How stupid is that!?.Version: 20.12.6

Wow, impressively awfulI can’t believe how confusing and unintuitive this app is to use. The money transaction part of it (which is the primary purpose of the old app but a less prominent purpose of the new app) is buried under promotions and is riddled with problems. Basic information is missing. For example, I can’t tell if a transaction is a request from someone else or a payment I made and I don’t know what I have to do to make sure a payment is received. The old app is still around, apparently causing many problems with transactions. (Google documentation says that if someone sends money with the old Pay and you’re using the new Pay, you have to find the automatic email to accept the transaction.) One of my transactions have been processing, undelivered, for weeks despite having been deducted from my account. Until they figure things out, I would use the old app. If you have the new app, I would opt to use another app to transfer money..Version: 24.51.20111901014

STAY AWAY!! USE PAYPAL FRIENDS & FAMILY!!If I could give Google Pay negative stars I would. I decided to give them a try instead of using the trustee old Venmo or PayPal. Our transfer would not work, so I contacted the Google Pay tech support. After wasting a ton of time while they investigated everything, they assured me that it would be corrected within 24 hours. 24 hours later, it’s still didn’t work... I then wasted more time going back and forth with support. They then guaranteed me (for the second time) that the transfer would go through within two hours. Three hours later, it still didn’t work... We ended up cancelling the transaction and using PayPal Friends and Family, for free. It worked instantly. I whole heartedly disapprove of Google Pay. Weird VerificationI’ve been using Google Pay for over a year now. But today when I tried send money to a family member, it wouldn’t allow me to until I verified my identity. I called google to find out if this was something new and was told this is something they’ve implemented the past few months. Why am I randomly being chosen when I’ve used this plenty of times in the past? I just don’t trust this new system. It requested my social, a photo of my government id as well a photo copy of either a bank statement, credit card statement, or utility bill as proof of residency. With all the hacking going on in the world I just opted out of this app. I refuse to share any of that information. Use at your own risk..Version: 21.7.52

Does not take accountability for fraudI will never use google pay again and recommend that others use another platform. I recently experienced fraud where another person hacked into my account and transferred several hundred dollars into their account...as I was changing my password they tried to transfer 900 more which I was able to cancel because I was in the account...I contacted google pay immediately and literally while I was on the phone, after I had already changed my password, the person who had accessed my account was trying to request my password...I filed a claim and they claimed they had investigated it and the transaction was valid because that’s how it appears on my account...google pay takes no accountability for fraud and in my opinions does not look into claims appropriately...I’m sure if they checked the location on where it was sent from they would of seen it was nowhere I live.
